Environmental downtime produces a significant cost to organizations and makes them unable to do business because what happens in the data center affects everyone. In addition, the amount of electrical energy consumed by data centers increases with the amount of computing power installed. Installation of physical Information Technology and facilities related to environmental concerns, such as monitoring temperature, humidity, power, flood, smoke, air flow, and room entry, is the most proactive way to reduce the unnecessary costs of expensive hardware replacement or unplanned downtime and decrease energy consumed by servers. In this paper, we present remote system for monitoring datacenter implementing using open-source hardware platforms; Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and the Gobetwino. The sensed data displayed through Arduino are transferred using Gobetwino to the nearest host server such as temperature, humidity and distance every time an object hitting another object or a person coming in entrance. The raspberry Pi records the sensed data at the remote location. The objective of collecting temperature and humidity data allows monitoring of the server's health and getting alerts if things start to go wrong. When the temperature hits $50^{\circ}C$, the supervisor at remote headquarters would get a SMS, and then they would take appropriate actions to reduce electrical costs and preserve functionality of servers in data centers.
The objectives of this study are to develop a real-time drought monitoring and prediction system on the East Asia domain and to evaluate the performance of the system by using past historical drought records. The system is mainly composed of two parts: drought monitoring for providing current drought indices with meteorological and hydrological conditions; drought outlooks for suggesting future drought indices and future hydrometeorological conditions. Both parts represent the drought conditions on the East Asia domain (latitude $21.15{\sim}50.15^{\circ}$, longitude $104.40{\sim}149.65^{\circ}$), Korea domain (latitude $30.40{\sim}43.15^{\circ}$, longitude $118.65{\sim}135.65^{\circ}$) and South Korea domain (latitude $30.40{\sim}43.15^{\circ}$, longitude $118.65{\sim}135.65^{\circ}$), respectively. The observed meteorological data from ASOS (Automated Surface Observing System) and AWS (Automatic Weather System) of KMA (Korean Meteorological Administration) and model-driven hydrological data from LSM (Land Surface model) are used for the real-time drought monitoring, while the monthly and seasonal weather forecast information from UM (Unified Model) of KMA are utilized for drought outlooks. For the evaluation of the system, past historical drought records occurred in Korea are surveyed and are compared with the application results of the system. The results demonstrated that the selected drought indices such as KMA drought index, SPI (3), SPI (6), PDSI, SRI and SSI are reasonable, especially, the performance of SRI and SSI provides higher accuracy that the others.
Environmental Impact Assessment(EIA) was first formally established in the Korea in 1981. Subsequently there has been a rapid growth in EIA activity, and over one hundred fifty environmental impact statements are now published in Korea each year. Although EIA now has almost 20 years of history in the Korea, elsewhere the development of roles and practice is more recent. Development is moving apace in many countries, including the Japan and the EU Member States. Such progress has not been without its problems, and a number of the current issues in EIA-scope of the assessment, the relative roles, the quality of assessment and monitoring and auditing after decision, and so on- are highlighted. So the purpose of this article is to reform the EIA roles and process, in extending the scope of activity, and assessing effectiveness. This article suggested improving the effectiveness of project assessment, widening the scope: stretegic environmental assessment, and extending EIA to project design process, environmental monitoring and feedback system.

This study focuses on building an effective environmental control system for the ubiquitous housing environment. In order to build an effective environmental control system that will provide a comfortable, pleasant, and convenient environment for residents, information on how people cognize the indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, information on human beings, and information of the space should be studied. Also more studies need to be done in which method would be the best way to integrate these informations that would affect the users in the most positive way. The current environmental control system only carries the information on providing separate information of environmental factors such as light, temperature, humidity, heat, and sound. However, it is difficult to understand the energy efficiency of an architectural element through this system. Therefore, this study proposes an energy monitoring system utilizing spatial information.
In this study, determination methods of monitoring location in water distribution system were suggested and applied to real test bed. Small block of Gwangtan water distribution system is consisted of 582 pipes, 564 junctions, 1 reservoir, and 1 pump station. Small block of Ho Chi Minh water distribution system is consisted of 162 pipes, 148 junctions, and 1 reservoir. Two small block water distribution systems were analyzed by pressure contribution analysis method to determine the optimum monitoring locations. The pressure change was estimated at each junctions by the additional demand at a junction. From the results, the optimum monitoring location can be determined by rank of pressure contribution index at each junctions due to demand change at a junction.

The seoul metropolitan subway has installed 8 lines and about 500 stations to transport 5 million passengers everyday. The underground air pollution level in the subway stations is very severe status, which is very harmful to the commutators and its personals. Although subway roles as such a massive and huge transportation system, the subway doesn't adapt yet any real-time air monitoring system. They have only some hand-held type detector equipments for monitoring air pollution. Therefore subway passengers are exposed to the harmful air pollution environment. The most harmful environmental parameters among the air pollution are known as the dust and sound noise dB level in the subway station. Because the dust is consisted of very small particles, we can't see them easily in dark condition on the platform, but it is very harmful. The monitoring system for air pollution is developed using embedded system attached with 6 different environmental sensors. This system monitors air pollution of dust sound noise, gas, temperature, humidity, inflammable gas, toxic gas in the subway ?station. The sensor unit of the ARM-CPU board and sensor transmits real time environmental data to the main server using Zigbee wireless communication module and TCP/IP network. The main control server receives and displays the real-time environmental data, and it send alarms to the personals when high level value.
Environmental impact assessment is a regulation that is implemented to reduce harmful environmental impacts of development projects. However, The environmental value is difficult to quantify and the uncertainty, There is a problem of objectivity and reliability of the system is consistently pointed out. Therefore, the necessity of the data-based environmental impact assessment system is gradually increasing. Especially, environmental impact assessment is highly applicable to environmental spatial information because it contains about the development of a particular area. Also with the introduction of EIA Follow-up management system, there is a demand for a system for providing and utilizing environmental information in a time series. This study derives the necessity of information provision system and analyz existing environmental information utilization system based on the institutional characteristics of environmental impact assessment. And suggest ways to provide environmental spatial information to find policy implications for improving the limit of environmental impact assessment system.

Microplastics have arisen as a worldwide environmental concern, becoming ubiquitous in all marine compartments, and various researches on monitoring marine microplastics are being actively conducted worldwide. Recently, application of a remote detection technology that enables large-scale real-time observation to marine plastic monitoring has been conducted overseas. However, in South Korea, there is little information linking remote detection to marine microplastics and some field studies have demonstrated remote detection of medium- and large-sized marine plastics. This study introduces research cases with remote detection of marine plastics in South Korea and overseas, investigates potential feasibility of using the remote detection technology to marine microplastic monitoring, and suggests some future works to monitor marine microplastics with the remote detection.

As the development of total management systems for sites along with site environmental information is becoming standard, the system known as the Site Information and Total Environmental database management System (SITES) has been developed over the last two years. The first result was a database management system for storing data obtained from facilities, and a site characterization in addition to an environmental assessment of a site. The SITES database is designed to be effective and practical for use with facility management and safety assessment in relation to Geographic Information Systems. SITES is a total management program, which includes its database, its data analysis system required for site characterization, a safety assessment modeling system and an environment monitoring system. It can contribute to the institutional management of the facility and to its safety reassessment. SITES is composed of two main modules: the SITES Database module (SDM) and the Monitoring & Assessment (M&A) module [1]. The M&A module is subdivided into two sub-modules: the Safety Assessment System (SAS) and the Site Environmental Monitoring System (SEMS). SAS controls the data (input and output) from the SITES DB for the site safety assessment, whereas SEMS controls the data obtained from the records of the measuring sensors and facilities. The on-line site and environmental monitoring data is managed in SEMS. The present paper introduces the procedure and function of the M&A modules.
To install and operate the Automatic Noise Monitoring Networks reasonably, which able to monitoring environmental noise continually, is an important issue for making decision to urban environment. Noise level is determined by regional environmental factors, that affected by complex urban environment. Therefore, accurate measurement of environmental noise level has top priority to establish and promote appropriate environmental policies. Currently, Automatic Noise Monitoring System is installed for grasping the environmental noise level and preparing basic data for constructing noise-reduction policies. However, this measurement data is recognized not to be able to reflect a sensory noise. The main reason is the lack of reliable measurement data and unreasonable installation site. The main point of this research ought to be the analysis of installed site of noise monitoring system in Busan.
