This study is conserned with the optimization of reinforced concrete frames using limit state design theory. Formulations of the optimal design for reinforced concrete frame based on the limit state theory turn out to be the nonlinear programming problems which have to deal with the required steel area, the width and effective height of the beam and column section and the moment reduction factor as the design variables. The objective function is formulated as the total construction cost which considers the costs of steel, concrete and forming for the reinforced concrete frames, and the basic constraints are imposed upon both ultimate and serviciability limit state concepts. Also, the stress blocks assumpted in CP110 and Hognestad et al. theory are applied to analysis an ultimate resistant section force for the ultimate limit state and only the criteria of CP110 are used for serviciability limit state. The optimized technique which is applied to solve the nonlinear programming problems for the optimization of reinforced concrete frames is SUMT utilizing the modified Newton-Raphson method. This algorithm is used to test for the two reinforced concrete frames, and then is compared and analysized with the numerical results of reference(10) to examine its convergence, applicability and stability under the same conditions. The results of this study are discussed about the economy comparision of the optimal values for CP110 and Hognestad et al., and the applicability, stability, convergence and validity of this algorithm used herein through the numerical analyses.

In this study, Hunt's analytical solution and Ward & Lough's analytical solution for two-layered leaky aquifer system were used to estimate stream depletions due to shallow and deep groundwater pumping, and their differences were compared. Depending on the combination of the separation distance between the stream and the well, the transmissivity and the storage coefficient of the aquifer, and the leakage coefficient between the upper and lower layers, the stream depletion, which is the amount of stream water reduction compared to the amount of groundwater pumping, for each of 45,000 cases was calculated for both shallow and deep groundwater pumping, and the differences were analyzed quantitatively. When the leakage coefficient was very small, with a value of 10-61/d, the difference in the average five-year stream depletion due to the pumping of shallow and deep groundwater showed a large deviation of up to 0.9 depending on the given hydraulic characteristics; this value exponentially decreased as the stream depletion factor (SDF) increased. This exponential relationship gradually weakened as the leakage coefficient increased due to interaction effects between layers, resulting in a small difference of up to 0.2 when the leakage coefficient reached 10-31/d. Under the condition of greater interlayer hydraulic connectivity, there was little influence of the depth of groundwater pumping on the stream water reduction.
High price equipment is one of the major factors that increases national health expenditure in developed countries. Computerized Tomography(CT), one of the important high price equipment, has been concerns of health service researchers and policy makers in many countries. In Korea, CT, first introduced in 1984, have spreaded nationwide with rapid speed. Though the Committee for Approving Import of High Price Medical Equipment, founded in 1981, tried to regulate the introduction of high price medical equipment including CT, the effort resulted in failure. The exact situation of diffusion of the high price equipment, however, was not yet investigated. We aimed at the description of the diffusion of CT in Korea and analysis of influencing factors on hospitals for the adoption of CT. We mainly used the database of CT, made in 1996 by the National Federation of Medical Insurance for the purpose of insurance payment for CT. Also characteristics of hospitals were gathered from yearbooks published by the central and local governments and by the Korean Hospital Association. We calculated the cumulative number of the CT per one million population year by year. In turn, multiple linear logistic regression was done to find out the contributing factors for the adoption of CT by each hospital. In the logistic regression model, it is regarded as dependent factor whether a hospital retained CT or not in 1988 and 1993. The major categories of the independent factors were hospital characteristics, environmental factors and competitive conditions of hospitals at the period of the adoption. The results are as follows: Number of CT scanners per one million persons in Korea marked more higher level compared with those of most OECD countries. Major influencing factors on the adoption of CT scanners were hospital characteristics, such as hospital referral level, and competitive condition of hospitals, such as number of CT scanners per 10,000 persons in each district where the hospital was located. In Korea, CT diffused with rather rapid speed, comparable with those of the United States and Japan. The major factors contributing on the adoption of CT for hospitals were competitive condition and hospital characteristics rather than regional health care need for CT. In conclusion, a kind of regulating mechanism would be necessary for the prevention of the indiscreet adoption and inefficient use of high price equipment including CT.
Street Trees is an important object for urban environment improvement. Especially the height of the trees needs to be precisely measured as a factor that greatly influences the removal of air pollutants in the Urban Street Canyons. In this study, we extracted the height of the tree based on the stereo image using the precisely adjusted UAV Images of the target area. The adjustment of UAV image was applied photogrammetric SfM (Structure from motion) based on the collinear condition. We measured the height of the trees on the Street Canyon using stereoscopic vision on stereo plotting system. We also acquired the height of the building adjacent to the street trees and the average height of the road surface was calculated for accurate measurement of the height of each object. Through the visual analysis with the plotting operation system, it was possible to measure height of the tree and to calculate the relative height difference value with building quickly. This means that the height of buildings and trees can be calculated without making a 3D point cloud of UAV and it has the advantage of being able to utilize non-experts. In the future, further studies for semiautomatic/automation of this technique should be performed. The development and research of these technologies is expected to help to understand the current status of environmental policies and roadside trees in urban areas.

Soil erosion is an natural phenomenon. However accelerated soil erosion has caused many environmental problems. To reduce soil loss from a watershed, many management practices have been proposed worldwide. To develop proper and efficient soil erosion best management practices, soil erosion rates should be estimated spatially and temporarily. The Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) and USLE-based soil erosion and sediment modelling systems have been developed and tested in many countries. The Sediment Assessment Tool for Effective Erosion Control (SATEEC) system has been developed and enhanced to provide ease-of-use interface to the USLE users. However many researchers and decision makers have requested to enhance the SATEEC system for simulation of soil erosion and sediment reflecting effects of single storm event. Thus, the SATEEC R factors were estimated based on 5 day antecedent rainfall data. The SATEEC 2.1 daily R factor was applied to the study watershed and it was found that the R2 and EI values (0.776 and 0.776 for calibration and 0.927 and 0.911 for validation) with the daily R were greater than those (0.721 and 0.720 for calibration and 0.906 and 0.881 for validation) with monthly R, which was available in the SATEEC 2.0 system. As shown in this study, the SATEEC with daily R can be used to estimate soil erosion and sediment yield at a watershed scale with higher accuracy. Thus the SATEEC with daily R can be efficiently used to develop site-specific soil erosion best management practices based on spatial and temporal analysis of soil erosion and sediment yield at a daily-time step, which was not possible with USLE-based soil erosion modeling system.
In greenhouse, data on evapotranspiration or water consumption is important for the rational water management, irrigation planning, thermal environment analysis, and watering automation. But little investigations have been attempted to make clear the characteristics of water consumption in greenhouse. In this paper, evapotransplrations of lettuce and cucumber by cropping systems were investigated. And the correlations among evapotranspiration, pan evaporation, solar radiation, mean air temperature, and minimum relative humidity were analyzed. Experimental cropping systems of lettuce were soil culture and NFT system. Those of cucumber were soil culture, perlite culture, and rockwool culture. Total water consumption of lettuce was 2.62$\ell$/plant in soil culture and 1.71$\ell$/plant in NFT system. That of cucumber was 45.22$\ell$/plant in soil culture, 27.45$\ell$/plant in rockwool culture and 29.06$\ell$/plant in perlite culture. Therefore total water consumption of soil culture showed higher than soilless culture.
This work was conducted to investigate the important rooting factors through comparative analysis of a physiological differentiation after layering treatment using four apple rootstocks of different rooting abilities; M.26, M.9, O.3, and Mo.84. Mo.84 showed the highest rooting rate in from rootstocks, while O.3 was the lowest. Mo.84 also found to have the highest indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) content, although the fluctuation of IAA contents was not consistent with layering treatment. In contrast, abscisic acid (ABA) content of Mo.84 which showed highest rooting was lowest among rootstocks regardless of layering treatment. And ABA contents of all rootstocks were decreased after layering treatment than before layering treatment. O.3 which showed poor rooting rate revealed lowest in boron content. Carbohydrate/nitrogen (C/N) ratio of Mo.84 was the highest in all rootstocks. Therefor, we assumed that he IAA contents in layering treated rootstocks were not seemed to be a major rooting factor, but the changes in ABA contents and boron levels limit rooting in dwarf apple rootstocks.
This study was performed to develop a model to predict landslides and determine the variable importance of landslides susceptibility factors based on the probabilistic prediction of landslides occurring on slopes along the road. Field survey data of 30,615 slopes from 2007 to 2020 in Korea were analyzed to develop a landslide prediction model. Of the total 131 variable factors, 17 topographic factors and 114 geological factors (including 89 bedrocks) were used to predict landslides. Automated machine learning (AutoML) was used to classify landslides and non-landslides. The verification results revealed that the best model, an extremely randomized tree (XRT) with excellent predictive performance, yielded 83.977% of prediction rates on test data. As a result of the analysis to determine the variable importance of the landslide susceptibility factors, it was composed of 10 topographic factors and 9 geological factors, which was presented as a percentage for each factor. This model was evaluated probabilistically and quantitatively for the likelihood of landslide occurrence by deriving the ranking of variable importance using only on-site survey data. It is considered that this model can provide a reliable basis for slope safety assessment through field surveys to decision-makers in the future.
Launched in August, 2016, the online public benefit project ANT FOREST has planted more than one hundred million trees in desertification areas and is currently continuing on with its activities. It is a fruit of online communications network development, and the public benefit project based on this puts more emphasis on the spirits of public interest rather than the investments of public services, unlike traditional public benefit activities. Hence the purpose of this study is to figure out the interaction between the users supporting the online public benefit and the public benefit progress online. The study was divided into 4 stages in order to find out the interaction, key factors for users to continue to support online public interest. First, preceeding studies on online public benefit will be reviewed to understand the characteristics of online public benefit. Second, determine the public benefit nature of ANT FOREST and investigate the project progress. Third, review the usage rate of ANT FOREST and categorize the properties of users. Fourth, interview was conducted to direct the interaction between the online public benefit project and the user. In conclusion, the online public benefit project completes the public benefit process through the user, the operator, and the supporter, the important factor connecting the energy connecting the process in cyber space and the public benefit activity in reality is the sense of participation, and the user continues the public benefit project through this sense of participation.
Concentration of hormones and blood components at the last fatting stage was changed before slaughter in Hanwoo steers and bulls. Two months before slaughter and shipment, concentration of cortisol and creatinine was increased, but that of calcium was decreased. Concentration of insulin growth factor-1 (IGF-1) was decreased after shipment, and inorganic phosphorus (IP) was decreased at slaughter. It is unclear that changes of concentration in between 2 months before slaughter and shipment were either caused by aging or stresses (abstinence, environmental change, blood drawing, and shipment). Changes of blood concentration between shipment and slaughter may be accounted for overall responses from abstinence, shipment, and unfamiliar environment. A positive correlation between 2 months before slaughter and before shipment was detected for IGF-1, total protein (TP), albumin, creatinine, high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDLC), and globulin in steers, and creatinine and globulin in bulls. A positive correlation between 2 month before slaughter and slaughter was detected for IGF-1, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), IP and HDLC in steers, and creatinine in bulls. A positive correlation between before shipment and slaughter was detected for testosterone, IGF-1, creatinine, triglyceride, HDLC and globulin in steers, and TP, creatinine, HDLC and globulin in bulls.
