This article explores the ways Charles Dickens's roles as novelist and journal editor overlapped and influenced one another in the serial publication of A Tale of Two Cities (1859) and complicates recent historicist readings, which situate the novel in relation to the Indian Mutiny (1857-59), by calling attention to a double imperial logic used to construct British subjectivity not only against forms of Eastern Otherness but, moreover, against forms of Southern Otherness associated with the European South, especially Italy. Analyzing Dickens's historical representation of the French Revolution in relation to its contemporary international political context, this essay examines how the novel's serial publication draws upon political discourse from contemporary articles on the Second Italian War of Independence (1859-61) appearing concurrently in Dickens's journal, All the Year Round. Orientalism circulates simultaneously in the novel as a distant and exotic as well as a provincial and parochial representation of racial and cultural Otherness.

This study evaluates the accuracy of corrective feedback from Grammarly, an online grammar checker, on essays written by cyber university learners in terms of detected errors, suggested replacement forms, and false alarms.The results indicate that Grammarly has a high overall error detection rate of over 65%, being particularly strong at catching errors related to articles and prepositions. In addition, on the detected errors, Grammarly mostly provide accurate replacement forms and very rarely make false alarms. These findings suggest that Grammarly has high potential as a useful educational tool to complement the drawbacks of teacher feedback and to help learnersimprove grammatical accuracy in their written work. However, it is still premature to conclude that Grammarly can completely replace teacher feedback because it has the possibility (approximately 35%) of failing to detect errors and the limitationsin detecting errors in certain categories. Since the feedback from Grammarly is not entirely reliable, caution should be taken for successful integration of Grammarly in English writing classes. Teachers should make judicious decisions on when and how to use Grammarly, based on a keen awareness of Grammarly's strengths and limitations.

The aim of this essay is to discuss the relationship between Korean literature and Korean intellectual scenes. Since its first introduction to the local context, literature as a genre has served as a field in which colonial and post-colonial intellectuals have attempted to win the accreditation of Western enlightenment. Literature has been regarded as a crucial instrument of liberal arts and education in Korea. Literature has functioned as a social movement in Korea since its inception. During the colonial period, radical intellectuals and literary writers published essays and articles in literary journals. This status as a social movement is still a distinctive characteristic of Korean literature. From the outset, Korean literature has functioned as an enlightenment project for cultural development. As such, Korean literature retains a political meaning of "literariness," which reshuffles the hierarchy of the sensible and creates novelty against given aesthetic regimes. As a result, in the process these regimes are thereby de-purified of their status as purely aesthetic movements; their perspectives thereby come into contact with other discourses and practices outside the art world. This essay argues that as a genre, Korean literature always functions as "world literature" in Korean intellectual scenes.

본 연구는 영어 교과에서의 전략 지도의 효과를 메타분석을 통해 종합하여 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 총 46개 연구에 포함된 55개의 개별 연구 사례를 선정하여 메타분석을 실시하였고, 전략 지도에 대한 평균 효과크기를 산출하여 전략 지도가 영어 능력과 정의적 영역 등 영어 학습에 미치는 효과를 살펴보았다. 또한 연구대상, 처치 기간을 포함한 조절변인과 영어능력, 정의적 영역 등의 종속변인을 설정하여 변인별로 평균 효과크기에 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있는지 검증하였다. 분석 결과 전략 지도의 중간 효과보다 조금 큰 수준을 나타내었으며(d=.536, p=.000), 조절변인과 종속변인별로 산출한 평균 효과크기 사이에는 통계적으로 유의한 수준의 차이가 없었다. 마지막으로 연구 결과를 근거로 영어교육 분야에서의 전략 지도와 관련한 후속 연구를 위한 제언을 논의하였다.

The purpose of the present study is to compare Korean EFL learners' speech corpus (i.e. oral productions) with their composition corpus (i.e. written productions). Four college students participated in the study. The composition corpus was collected through a writing assignment, and the speech corpus was gathered by audio-taping their oral presentations. The results of the data analysis indicate that (i) As for error frequency, young adult low-intermediate Korean EFL learners showed high frequency in determiners (mostly, indefinite articles), vocabulary (mostly, semantic errors), and prepositions. The frequency order did not show much difference between the speech corpus and the composition corpus; and (ii) When comparing the oral productions with the written productions, there were not many differences between them in terms of the contents, a style (i.e., colloquial vs. literary), vocabulary selection, and error types and frequency. Therefore, it is assumed that the proficiency in oral presentation of EFL learners at this learning stage heavily depends on how much/how well they are able to write. In other words, EFL learners' writing and speaking skills are closely co-related. It implies that the teacher does not need to separate teaching how to speak from teaching how to write. The teacher may use the same methods or strategies to help the learners improve their English speaking and writing skills. Furthermore, it will be more effective to teach writing before speaking since they have more opportunities to write than speak in the EFL contexts.

Purpose: The purpose of this literature review was to describe the roles of advanced practice nurses related to advance directives. Methods: A comprehensive literature review was conducted utilizing Pubmed, Ovid, and CINAHL. The key words for search were 'advance directives', 'living wills', 'durable power of attorney', 'advanced practice nursing', 'advanced practice nurse', 'nurse practitioner', and 'nurse specialist'. Research articles published between January 1990 and September 2010 and written in English were included. Review papers and expert's opinion were excluded. Results: Five articles were yielded and analyzed. Among them, two focused on the advanced practice nurses' role during the process of advance directives. The other three presented the outcomes depending on the type of nurses' involvement in each health care delivery system. Conclusion: Recently, Korea established advance directives and expanded to diverse sites. Advanced practice nurses' role in the advance directive decision-making process should be examined and developed in research and practice.

In order to establish a relationship between sleep related breathing disorder (SBD) and temporomandibular disorders (TMDs), a literature review was performed. A researching was performed based on PubMed, including english languages. Any clinical study identified relationship between SBD and TMD were selected in this review. 13 studies were analyzed in this review. According to SBD diagnosis, articles were grouped as follows: polysomnographic diagnosis (n=7), clinical diagnosis (n=2) and survey/self-report (n=4). 12 articles established a positive relation between SBD and TMD and 1 did not. SBD would be associated with protrusion/retrusion degree, myofascial pain, muscular and joint pathology, and other orofacial findings. It was analyzed that the retrusion of the mandible had the significant influence on the severity of the SBD.

Idiopathic scoliosis is a complex three-dimensional deformity of the spine. There is two ways in treatment of scoliosis, normally. In order to prevent a progressive course of the disorder, conservative treatment is started in selected patients. And sometimes, operation is performed to severe patients. But, application standard is vague. So We reviewed the latest medical theses. English language articles in Medline database between 2003 and 2005. 8. 31. were reviewed. The searching words was Idiopathic scoliosis, conservative treatment, brace. exercise. We classified 27 articles. The results of this research demonstrate that conservative treatment is more effective than observation until operation.

The purpose of this research is to identify topics discussed by Korean mathematics education studies and examine research trends for 15 years. I applied latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA) to the original text datasets including English abstracts of 3,157 articles published in eight journals indexed by the Korean Citation Index (KCI) from 1997 to 2019. I identified an LDA model with 60 topics, then research trends in 2,884 articles between 2002 and 2018 were as follows; mathematics educators have paid most attention to teacher education through 2010 to 2015 and curriculum analysis after 2016. The findings in this research can contribute to understand what have been discussed in Korean mathematics education society as well as what will and need to be emphasized more in the future compared to the global research trends. In addition, LDA has potentials to identify topics and keywords of manuscripts newly written and submitted to any journals in addition to information provided by authors.

Purpose: This study aimed to review the recent scientific literature regarding nursing care of arteriovenous fistula (AVF) for the patients with Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) undergoing hemodialysis. Methods: An integrative review was conducted and articles were searched from Cochrane library, Medline, PubMed, Science direct and CINAHL databases by using the terms "nursing", 'Chronic Renal Failure', 'Haemodialysis', renal failure', 'or 'AV Fistula' nursing care', 'self-care'. The inclusion criteria were articles published in English in the year of 2015-2020 with availability of free full text. Reviewed data were carefully analyzed and charted regard to the nursing care of the patient with AVF. Results: 12 articles papers met the inclusion criteria. Three themes were derived from the data: (a) Intervention (b). Patient and nurse education (c) KPA Assessment of (Knowledge, Practice and Attitude) Conclusions: This review indicates the challenges that nursing care of AVF patients undergoing hemodialysis. The identified themes can be used in the development of more effective educational- programs. Future studies should focus on the development and evaluation of educational programs that include these selected themes.
