Reformation of Engineering Education and Asian-Pacific Network

  • Recently, engineering work become very important for the leaders of the information society for the future knowledge in the 21st century and the goal of engineering education is to prepare people to practice engineering as a profession and also to spread technological literacy, increase student interest in technical careers through science and math education. The College of Engineering (COE) of Korea Maritime University (KMU) aims to be the center of both IT-related high industrial technology and the industries related to port, shipbuilding and the ocean. Especially COE focuses on the educational principles to contribute to the development of the country and the regional communities by educating specialists that have international competitiveness. With the need to expand international collaboration in terms of engineering work, it is proposed to initiate a new state of the Asian-Pacific body of engineering conference. To the extent possible the basic discussion was made to expose elements and supports as full-scale illustration of the engineering conference. The result is a body that evokes multi agreement and joint declaration among members.

  • When exchanging user data between nodes in a hierarchical conference system using the endpoint mixing scheme, the hierarchical structure may cause extra delay. The algorithm[1] was proposed for minimizing the media delay between the number of the neighboring nodes. In this paper, we implement a hierarchical conference with SIP protocol based on the algorithm.

  • 현재 지식 기반 시스템의 한 분야로 회의시스템이 있으며 멀티미디어적 접근방식의 회의에 대한 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 그러나 멀티미디어적인 관점에서 연구되는 회의시스템의 경우 기존의 오프라인 회의의 장단점을 그대로 온라인으로 가져왔을 뿐 정작 중요한 회의 내용 및 방식에 대한 지식화 방안에 대해 고려하지 않고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 기존의 멀티미디어적인 측면에서 회의 시스템을 구성하는 방식을 탈피해 회의 내용과 방식에 초점을 맞추어 기존 시스템들을 포함찬 수 있는 지식기반 회의관리 시스템 아키텍처를 제안하였다.

  • In order to promptly cope with the various requirements of consumers, the environment of product development is being globalized in manufacturing industrials. For this reason, it is necessary to build up an efficient collaborative system for communication between remote area designers. Specially, while Internet and information technologies were merged with the manufacturing or business process, the research for collaborative system has become an important issue. Therefore, we propose a Web-based Engineering Collaboration Framework using SPS(SharePoint Portal Server) which is an enterprise business solution that integrates information from various system into one solution through single sign-on and enterprise application integration capabilities, with flexible deployment options and management tool. Through a Web-based Engineering Collaboration Framework, designers can share knowledge assets and have a remote conference with others via web.

  • UFC(Ubiquitous Fashionable Computer) is a human oriented fashionable computer with which we exploit the ubiquitous computing environment by our intuitive interface[1]. The multipoint conference in the UFC is expected to be one of the leading applications in the ubiquitous environments. In this paper, we introduce GUI for multipoint conference system in UFC.
