A Study on the Development of Capacitor Exchange Type GDU of Propulsion Control Device of Electric Railway Vehicle Capable of Life Diagnosis (수명진단이 가능한 전기철도차량 추진제어장치의 커패시터 교환 형 GDU 개발에 관한 연구)

  • The propulsion control device of an electric railway vehicle is a key main component corresponding to an engine of an automobile, and a device for controlling this is a device called a GDU (Gate Drive Unit). Also, when the frequency of failure of the propulsion control system was analyzed, the nonconformity ratio of GDU was the highest. GDU was not able to access core technologies due to the introduction of foreign products, and there were general problems with overall maintenance activities due to discontinuation of GDU of the manufacturer. The GDU has reached the end of its life with 23 to 14 years of long-term use.In order to solve these problems, this study was designed to identify the proper life span by analyzing compatible GDU's acquisition and failure, and to improve the existing system of maintenance focusing on health inspection. Maintenance of the components with a short life span compared to the entire service life is essential. Most foreign parts introduced at the beginning of the construction are not replaced due to technical problems or long-term operation. However, due to the characteristics of railway vehicles with a long life span of more than 25 years, it is necessary to maintain them for a long period of time. The study should be more concrete and empirical. The replacement type GDU of capacitors was able to easily measure the life of the capacitance by removing the capacitor modules, measure the life span of each unit test, and accurately perform preventive maintenance of the capacitor.

  • Seoul Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporation - which is operating the subway lines No. 5, 6, 7 and 8 of Seoul's subway - has been operating a variety of motor cars and rail inspection vehicles to transport workers and materials into the tunnel at night after the daily revenue service for the maintenance of tunnel structure and track. However, the air quality in tunnels has been contaminated due to the operation of diesel engine cars, and rail inspection vehicles are now having higher chances of risks since the lightweight vehicles made with aluminum bogie became too obsolete. In this study, MRT type eco-friendly electric multi-inspection car has been elaborated for the purpose of improvement of tunnel environment and replacement of motor cars and rail inspection vehicles.

  • 기관고장에 의한 해양사고는 지속적으로 증가추세에 있으며, 특히 100톤 미만의 소형선박에 설치된 고속기관의 기관사고가 전체 기관사고의 많은 부분을 차지하고 있다. 이러한 원인은 선박운용자의 직무와 관련된 정비점검불량에서 기인하는 사례로 나타나며 특히 소형선박 선원의 고속기관에 대한 전문지식 부족으로 일상 점검 및 정비 능력이 부족한 것이 주요 원인으로 파악 되고 있다. 본 연구개발 과제는 이와 같은 기관사고의 줄이기 위하여 선박운항자 등 고속기관 취급인 등을 대상으로 하는 고속기관에 대한 안전점검 요령 및 정비요령에 대한 시청각 교재를 개발 보급할 목적으로 추진되었다.

  • This study provide Car driver with car sensor information which is car trouble code in engine and many sensors. This provide car manager with many information of car sensors when we go to vehicle maintenance. This system consist of embedded linux system which uses RS232 and EML327 for CAN communication of car system. Finally this is a lot of application for embedded linux system which get sensor informations of car control sensor system.

  • The worldwide economy has been changing to global and it's going to be put together as one market day by day. In addition the issue of industry has been advanced to automatic and unmanned systems by integration. Thus it is absolutely necessary to be develope and possess high-end technologies to survive in an age of unlimited competition. This development is the core technology of ship unmanned operating system that is very useful and applicable in many fields in addition to ship equipments. Thus it is required to design and develope our own systems which are more reliable compared with foreign products and easy to use and maintenance. We will make an progress of international competitive and contribute to the state economy.

Air Pollution by Automobiles and Ways of Reduction (자동차가 대기오염에 미치는 영향과 저감방안)

  • Due to the rapid increase of automobiles and daily driving distances, air pollution by automobiles is still dominant problem of large city in spite of strict emission refutation and development of reduction technologies. Among the air pollution resources of automobile , industry. electricity generation and heating. automobile keeps 51% of total nationwide air pollution in 1998 and this proportion Is increasing in large cities from 65% to 85%. To reduce these air pollution. catalytic converter and electronic engine control, exhaust gas re-circulation and evaporative emission control system have continuously developed and applied to automobiles since 1987. Also strong emission standards and emission durability warranty have enforced and monitored annually by sampling several vehicle models. But technologies and regulations are incomplete, driver should participate in reducing air pollution for himself by planning driving, avoiding unnecessary idle and air conditioning, keeping periodic maintenance and using mass transportation.

  • A numerical simulation was performed to investigate the internal flow characteristics in gas turbine nozzle by the variation of flow area of the nozzle. In general the area of turbine nozzle is chosen by the most substantial factor on performance improvement of turbine at the first stage. In the performances test through CFD analysis for three types of nozzle with conventional, enlarged and reduced area, reduced one with effective flow area (EFA) was the most efficient. That is the minimum effective value within EFA limit defined by the manual of technical order had a good performance. It is useful to avoid the low power problem in the test of performance after maintenance and overhaul of turbine engine.

Life-Cost-Cycle Evaluation Analysis of the Shunting Locomotive (입환기관차의 LCC 평가분석)

  • The deterioration of a shunting locomotive was characterized for the lifetime assessment. The locomotive has been used for shunting works in steel making processes, and in this investigation, various types of technical evaluation methods for the locomotive parts were employed to assess the current deterioration status and to provide important clue for lifetime prediction. Unlike other rolling stocks in railway applications, the diesel shunting locomotive is composed of major components such as diesel engine, transmission, gear box, brake system, electronic devices, etc., which cover more than 70 percent of the total price of the locomotive. Therefore, in this paper, each part of major components in the diesel locomotive was analyzed in terms of the degree of deterioration. The lift-cycle-cost (LCC) analysis was performed based on the maintenance and repair history as compared with economical cost to provide the cost-effective prediction, i.e., to assess either repair for reuse or putting the locomotive out of service based on cost-effective calculation.

  • Recently, integrated electric propulsion system has been vigorously adopted into naval vessels. To enhance effectiveness and efficiency of power management in these propulsion systems, this paper investigates necessity of energy storage devices and their operation strategies. By introducing the energy storage devices, engine can operate at higher efficiency point and accordingly costs for fuel and maintenance are significantly reduced. In addition, transient performance can also be improved with support of the devices and it leads to stable operation of shipboard power bus. To validate the proposal of this paper, computer simulation has been conducted with real load data of existing electric propulsion system.
