A gas mechanical pulsator is developed for the study of combustion instabilities in various combustors such as LRE combustor. First, it shows that the mass flow rates and the perturbation frequencies can be successively controlled by the inlet pressure and the rotating speed of a rotating disk with many holes. Second, the device is used as an acoustic amplification source as a substitute for the speaker in the previous acoustic tests and its results show almost the same resonant frequency and damping characteristics compared with the previous results. In conclusion, the result shows that it can be used as a substitute for a speaker in the studies of LRE combustion instabilities, which has a flow and no limitation of amplification, and a device for making a perturbation source in gas flow.

A Vertex Shader is designed to show more 3D graphics expressions, and to increase flexibility of the fixed function T&L (Transform and Lighting) engine. Design of this Shader is based on Vertex Shader 1.1 of DirectX 8.1 and OpenGL ARB. The Vertex Shader consists of four floating point ALUs for vectors operation. The previous 32bits floating point data type is replaced to 24bits floating point data type in order to design the Vertex Shader that consume low-power and occupy small area. A Xilinx Virtex2 300M gate module is used to verify behaviour of the core. The result of Synopsys synthesis shows that the proposed Vertex Shader performs 115MHz speed at the TSMC 0.13um process and it can operate as the rate of 12.5M Polygons/sec. It shows the complexity of 110,000 gates in the same process.

Leakage trouble on the sea water pipeline in engine room is often resulted from a localized corrosion due to severe corrosive environment caused by both high speed and high pressure of sea water flowing through the inner pipe. In addition, when the ship is in stand-by or emergency condition, underwater welding to control the leakage of sea water from a hole of its pipe is very important in an industrial safety point of view. In this study possibility of underwater welding to control leakage of sea water and corrosion property of its welding zone were investigated with the electrochemical methods by parameters of welding methods and welding electrodes when underwater welding is achieved with a such case that sea water is being leaked out with a height at 50mm from a hole of $2.5mm{\emptyset}$ of test pipe. Corrosion resistance of weld metal zone is better than the base metal and its hardness is higher than that of the base metal. However corrosion potential of weld metal zone showed a negative value than that of the base metal, therefore weld metal zone is preferentially corroded rather than the base metal by performance of galvanic cell due to difference of corrosion potential between weld metal zone and base metal. Eventually it is suggested that leakage of sea water is successfully controlled by underwater welding,

In developing a multistage compressor, the stage matching is one of the critical design issues. The mismatching can be often observed even if each stage has been proven good and then used as part of a compression system. A good matching among the stages can be achieved by changing various design parameters (i.e., passage cross sectional areas, blades angles, stagger angles, curvature, solidity, etc.). Therefore, designers need to find out what parameters must be changed and how much. In this study, a method to search the design parameters for optimum stage matching has been used based on an 1-D mathematical model of a compressor, which uses the data obtained from the preliminary test to identify the design parameters. This methodology is applied with a two-stage axial compressor, which was originally designed for a helicopter gas turbine engine. After identifying design parameters using preliminary test data, an optimization process has been employed to achieve the best matching between the stages (i.e., maximum efficiency of the compressor at its operation modes within a given range of the rotor speed under given restrictions for required stall margins and mass flow). 3-D flow calculations have been performed to confirm the usefulness of the corrections based on the 1-D mathematical model. Calculational results agree well with the experimental data in view of the performance characteristics. Some promising results were produced through the methodology proposed in this paper in conjunction with flow calculations.

In this paper, the instrument flight certification process and flight test results of Korean Utility Helicopter (KUH) are presented. For the instrument flight certification, the suitability of installed equipments and instruments have been reviewed and verified by ground and flight tests. Next, static and dynamic stability test are conducted in accordance with FAR-29 Appendix B. The static stability is determined by the change of speed and attitude according to control inputs. The dynamic stability is evaluated by how quickly the response of the helicopter due to long and short period control inputs are decreased. The pilot workload evaluation are also carried out by simulated IMC flight tests. This paper presents the workload assessment results when some failures are occurred at cockpit instruments, engine or flight control systems as well as the normal situation. After the simulated IMC flight test is completed, actual instrument flight test are conducted in a real IMC environment according to the air traffic controls.

A cylindrical constant volume combustion chamber was used to investigate the flow characteristics at the spark electrode gap and the combustion characteristics of a homogeneous charged methane-air mixture under various overall charge pressures, excess air ratios and ignition times. The flow characteristics, including the mean velocity and turbulence intensity, were analyzed with a hot wire anemometer. Combustion pressure development measured by piezoelectric pressure transducer, a flame propagation image acquired by ICCD camera and exhaust emissions measured by 2-valve gas chromatography were used to investigate effects of initial pressures, excess air ratios and ignition times on the combustion characteristics. It was found that the mean velocity and turbulence intensity had the maximum value around 200-300 ms and then decreased gradually to a near-zero value after 3000 ms and that the combustion duration was shorten and the flame speed and laminar burning velocity had the highest value under the condition of an excess air ratio of 1.1, an overall charge pressure of 0.15 MPa and an ignition time of 300 ms in the present study. The $CO_2$ concentration was proportional to the ignition time and overall charge pressure, the $CO_2$ concentration was proportional to the excess air ratio, and the UHC concentration was inversely proportional to the ignition time and overall charge pressure.

Today, reduction of $CO_2$ exhaustion gas for global-warming prevention becomes important issues in all industrial fields. Hydraulic systems have been widely used in industrial applications due to high power density and so on. However hydraulic pump is always being operated by engine or electric motor in the conventional hydraulic system. Therefore most of the conventional hydraulic system is not efficient system. Recently, an electro-hydraulic hybrid system, which combines electric and hydraulic technology in a compact unit, can be adapted to a wide variety of force, speed and torque requirements. In the electro-hydraulic hybrid system, hydraulic pump is operated by electric motor only when hydraulic power is needed. Therefore the electro-hydraulic system can reduce the energy consumption drastically when compared to the conventional hydraulic systems. This paper presents a new kind of hydraulic load simulator which is composed of electro-hydraulic hybrid system. Disturbances in the real working condition make the control performance decrease or go bad. QFT controller is designed to eliminate or reduce the disturbance and improve the control performance of the electro-hydraulic load simulator. Experimental results show that the proposed controller is verified to apply for electro-hydraulic hybrid system with varied external disturbances.
An investigation was carried out to compare the pulp responses against a few type of composite and streptococcus mutans contamination under the zinc oxide eugenol cement, and also confirmed pulpal responses of various composites with or without base. Seventy eight teeth from 6 dogs were employed and divided into 6 groups. Class V cavities were prepared on each tooth routinely with low speed dental engine. Paper disc about 0.3mm thick was immersed in the BHI broth in which streptococcus mutans had been enriched and the disc was inserted on the cavity floor prior to filling. Scotch bond puls Silux as Bis-GMA system composite resin and Helimolar as urethane system composite resin were adopted. Control group: Zinc-Oxide Eugenol cement filling Experimental groups: Group 1. Scotch bond + Silux filling with Dycal base Group 2. Heliomolar filling with Dycal base Group 3. Scotch bond + Silux filling without base Group 4. Heliomolar filling without base Group 5. Streptococcus mutans application. All cavities were sealed with thick ZOE cement to avoid marginal leakage. Postoperative intervals of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 weeks teeth were carefully extracted, processed and stained with Hematoxylin and Eosin. The results were as follows: 1. S. mutans application group and composites without any base showed more severe pupal response than control group and dyca based groups. 2. The experimental group of S. mutans application showed severe response in the early stage compared to the two groups of composite resin without base, but no significant difference was found following periods. 3. The difference of pulpal response is not significant between Bis-GMA system and urethane system. 4. Streptococcus mutans application group and composites without base groups showed the evidence of histologic recovery at the six week cases and the large amount of reparative dentin was the prominent feature. 5. Pulp responses against every material were inclined to normal according to the time elapsed.

In this paper, the intelligent smart monitor system is implemented for the next generation vehicle. to mitigate the numerous effects of distractions within the vehicle, it is vital to put critical information where the driver can use it without affection focus on the road ahead. Audible alarms are useful supplements when used in conjunction with visual displays. But driving is an overwhelmingly visual task. To optimize a vehicle's active safety systems, more than just audible alarms are necessary. The driver needs a visual interface that focuses his or her attention on the road ahead. The most commonly viewed information in a vehicle is from the instrument cluster, where speed, tachometer, fuel, engine temperature, fuel gauge, turn indicators and warning lights provide the driver with an array of fundamental information. TFT LCD, LCD Back light led, plane mirror, lens and controllers parts were designed to intelligent integrated smart monitor system. Finally, in this paper, we analyze intelligent integrated smart monitor system for driver safety vehicles.
