Flight Envelope Load Factor Limit Logic Design for Helicopter Fly-By-Wire Controller (전자식 조정장치 헬리콥터의 하중 비행영역 제한 로직 설계)

  • This paper reports the load factor logic design for a fly-by-wire helicopter flight envelope protection. As a helicopter is very complex system with a rotor, fuselage, engine, etc., there are many constraints on the flight region. Because of these constraints, pilots should consider them carefully and have a heavy workload, which causes controllability degradation. In this respect, automatic logic is needed to free the pilot from these considerations. As one of these logics, the flight envelope protection logic for the load factor of a FBW helicopter was designed. The flight to exceed the load factor is caused by an abrupt pitch cyclic stick change. In this scheme, the load factor limit logic was added between the pilot stick command block and pitch attitude command block. From the current load value, the available attitude range was calculated dynamically and simulated on the helicopter simulator model to verify the performance. A comparison of the simulation results at the hovering and forward speed region with and without applying the load limiting logic showed that the load factor limit was exceeded more than 20% when the logic was not applied, whereas with the load factor limit logic the load factor was within the limit. In conclusion, a dynamically allocated limitation logic to helicopter FBW controller was verified by simulation.

The Construction Method for Virtual Drone System (가상 드론 시뮬레이터 구축을 위한 시스템 구성)

  • Recently, drone is extending its range of usability. For example, the delivery, agriculture, industry, and entertainment area take advantage of drone mobilities. To control real drones, it needs huge amount of drone control training steps. However, it is risky; falling down, missing, destroying. The virtual drone system can avoid such risks. We reason that what kinds of technologies are required for building the virtual drone system. First, it needs that the virtual drone authoring tool that can assemble drones with the physical restriction in the virtual environment. We suggest that the drone assembly method that can fulfill physical restrictions in the virtual environment. Next, we introduce the virtual drone simulator that can simulate the assembled drone moves physically right in the virtual environment. The simulator produces a high quality rendering results more than 60 frames per second. In addition, we develop the physics engine based on SILS(Software in the loop simulation) framework to perform more realistic drone movement. Last, we suggest the virtual drone controller that can interact with real drone controllers which are commonly used to control real drones. Our virtual drone system earns 7.64/10.0 user satisfaction points on human test: the test is done by one hundred persons.

  • The continuously variable transmission (CVT) of which speed ratio can change continuously in a fixed range has the benefits of low fuel consumption and exhaust gas because it enables the engine of a vehicle to operate in a high efficiency range regardless of vehicle speed. The speed ratio of belt type CVT is controlled by adjusting line pressure. The one of the line pressure control methods, mechanical-hydraulic control is usually adopting VDT's control method, in which the secondary solenoid valve has two functions both a regulator and a line pressure controller. However, this control method could not show the high performance of CVT with optimal driving capability because of the limitation of simple control algorithm, and it could not gain market share sufficiently in spite of the advantage of CVT with low fuel consumption. On the other hand, the electro-hydraulic control method gives the enhancement of power performance and low fuel consumption by implementing various driving mode using the proportional control or PWM control. The key of CVT technique is to develop a control algorithm of the electro-hydraulic solenoid valve in order to implement the speed ratio efficiently. In this paper, the line pressure control algorithm is proposed and the hydraulic system is controlled using metal belt type CVT test rig and the embedded ECU platform.

  • The interest in reducing the emissions and increasing the fuel economy of ICE vehicles has prompted research on hybrid vehicles, which come in the series, parallel, and power-split types. This study focuses on the series-type hybrid electric vehicle, which has a simple structure. Because each component of a series hybrid vehicle is larger than the corresponding component of the parallel type, the sizing of the vehicle is very important. This is because the performance may be greater or less than what is required. Thus, in this research, the optimal fuel economy was determined and simulated in a real-world system. The optimal sizing was achieved based on the motor, engine/generator, and battery for 13 cycles, where DP was used. The model was developed using ASCET or a Simulink-Amisim Co-simulation platform on the rapid controller prototype, ES-1000.

  • In this study, a SCR system is employed to selectively reduce $NO_X$, which is a major cause of environmental pollution and issues in diesel engines. In particular, this paper focuses on the combination of feedforward injection strategies, depending on the NO/$NO_X$ ratio, and feedback injection control, using $NH_3$ coverage ratio, based on a SCR model. A 2.2 L passenger diesel engine, which is equipped with a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and a diesel particle filter (DPF), was used in the experiments. The developed control algorithm is implemented on a real-time computer with injection control algorithm. By analyzing the $NO_X$ emission measurement, the performance of the proposed injection control algorithm is verified.

  • The degradation of durability and increase of fatigue on the ship are mainly caused by vibration of the engine and rotating machineries. The damper to minimize the influence from vibration is usually attached between the machineries and its base. General damper applied on the vessel is passive damper which is designed to attenuate specified frequency signals, i.e, high frequency vibration signals. But it is hard to anticipate its performance for low frequency signals. In this research, active vibration isolator using VCM is developed to suppress wide band vibration signals. Routh-Huritz's stable condition, ultimate sensitivity method and parameter tuning are applied to derive PID parameters and 2 and 4 phase choppers are also adapted to drive VCM. Simulation and experiments are executed to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed control schemes.

  • Buzz margin scheduling and control technique which are suitable to regulate stable and high pressure air in wide range of Mach number are suggested for fixed geometry of a supersonic intake. From the analysis of preceding study, most effective control variable is induced and scheduling law is newly suggested in a real application point of view. The appropriateness of the control law in wide range of Mach number is addressed by numerical simulation of controlled propulsion system. Also, the simulation for stabilization and tracking performances of the controller are studied to investigate the phenomena under flight maneuver and disturbances.

  • The most of virtual reality headset have the separated controllers while they put on the headset; so the users may feel the discomfort and burden for the operation. In this paper, a novel virtual reality headset system using the EOG (electro-oculogram) is proposed and it has a distinguished feature that the user does not need to control the virtual reality headset by the hands, but the displayed contents are controllable by the electrical activity of the user's brain. The proposed system consist of the mobile device, a virtual reality headset, and an EOG headset for data acquisition. The system is implemented by using the Unity3D engine for the signal processing and controller, and the concept is confirmed through the implementation that it is more interesting and easier to control the virtual reality headset.

  • Distributing the routing path over the entire network is an important factor to maintain the lifetime of wireless sensor network as long as possible. This paper proposes a fuzzy routing protocol that decides a routing path based on the fuzzy control rules. The fuzzy controller receives the energy values, distances, and hop counts of possible route paths as input, and the inference engine produces the contribution factors for each of route paths. The route path with the largest contribution factor is elected as the final routing path. The nodes contained in the routing path reduce their energy after transmitting a data packet so as to prevent the same route path from being selected repeatedly. It makes the network traffic spreaded over the network resulting longer network lifetime. The computer simulations on TinyOS have shown that the fuzzy routing protocol is more energy efficient and has longer network lifetime compared to the existing routing protocols.

Design and Performance Evaluation for VPNs based (MPLS 기반 VPN 제공을 위한 설계 및 성능 분석)

  • This paper proposes that an efficient routing entry sending method between routing controller FE. based on this method, we organize IP VPN support method based on MPLS network and design MPLS-VPN service control module, MPLS-VPN processing, VPN group configuration and LSP setup processing. We evaluate the performance about the VPN based on proposed MPLS, at the result of evaluation. We figure out that based on proposed IPC method, lost packets number reduces and delay increases more slowly in case of VPN based on MPLS comparing with the VPN based on ATM which has rapid delay increasement. Therefore we confirm that the VPN based on MPLS has high speed of packet processing and high utilization of buffers through the performance evaluation.
