In order to examine the in-reactor performance of very-high-density dispersion fuels for high flux performance research reactors, U-l0wt.%Mo microplates containing centrifugally atomized powder were irradiated at low temperature. The U-l0wt.%Mo dispersion fuels show stable in- reactor irradiation behaviors even at high burn-up, similar to U$_3$Si$_2$ dispersion fuels. The atomized U-l0wt.%Mo fuel particles have a fine and a relatively uniform fission gas bubble size distribution. Moreover, only one of third of the area of the atomized fuel cross-sections at 70a1.% burn-up shows fission gas bubble-free zones, This appears to be the result of segregation into high Mo and low Mo.
The design model and key parameters of the material design for the control of induced magnetic flux at the near-field and efficient power transfer in a modified wireless power transfer (WPT) system with a large air gap of wireless electric vehicles were investigated through analytical simulations for magnetic vector and time-domain transient analysis. Higher saturation magnetic core with low core loss induced a stronger vertical magnetic field by the W-type primary coil in the WPT system with a gap of 20 cm at 20 kHz, which is shown from the vector potentials of the magnetic induction. The transient analysis shows that the higher magnetic fluxes through the pick-up cores lead to a linear increment of the alternating voltage with a sinusoidal waveform in the non-contact energy transfer system.
Without scrutinizing reflection, the plasma comprising a coronal loop is usually regarded to reside within a flux rope. This picture seems to have been adopted from laboratory plasma pinches, in which a plasma of high density and pressure is confined in the vicinity of the flux rope axis by magnetic tension and magnetic pressure of the concave inward magnetic field. Such a configuration, in which the plasma pressure gradient and the field line curvature vector are almost parallel, however, is known to be vulnerable to ballooning instabilities (to which belong interchange instabilities as a subset). In coronal loops, however, ideal MHD (magnetohydrodynamic) ballooning instabilities are impeded by a very small field line curvature and the line-tying condition. We, therefore, focus on non-ideal (resistive) effects in this study. The footpoints of coronal loops are constantly under random motions of convective scales, which twist individual loop strands quite randomly. The loop strands with the axial current of the same direction tend to coalesce by magnetic reconnection. In this reconnection process, the plasma in the loop system is redistributed in such a way that a smaller potential energy of the system is attained. We have performed numerical MHD simulations to investigate the plasma redistribution in coalescence of many small flux ropes. Our results clearly show that the redistributed plasma is more accumulated between flux ropes rather than near the magnetic axes of flux ropes. The Joule heating, however, creates a different temperature distribution than the density distribution. Our study may give a hint of which part of magnetic field we are looking to in an observation.
In this study, the characteristic equation of a double sided short stator linear induction motor, referred to as LIM excited by equivalent current sheet having linear current density was derived using Maxwell's electromagnetic field theory with its entry and exit, end effects taken into consideration. According to the treatment of several physical phenomena in the air-gap i.e. the magnetic flux density distributions, thrust-force, forward and backward travelling wave with decay, normal field, the fundamental data in this study are made reference to improve the characteristics of LIM, effectual electro-magnetic energy conversion devices.

The performance of two designs of permanent magnet brushless motor, by having self-shielding magnetized magnets or sinusoidally shaped parallel-magnetized magnets with essentially sinusoidal airgap flux distributions, are compared. It is shown that the parallel-magnetized motor with shaped sintered NdFeB magnets can result in a higher airgap flux density and torque density than that of a self-shielding magnetized motor equipped with an anisotropic injection moulded NdFeB ring magnet.

Recent development in the field of RE-Ba-Cu-O (REBCO, RE: Y or rare earth elements) bulk high-Tc superconductors (HTS) is reviewed in the present paper. After the fatal weak link problem of sintered REBCO superconductors has been overcome by melt processing, this field has been greatly advanced during last ten years. The critical current density $J_c$ at 77 K has been enhanced by introducing effective flux pinning sites into the $REBa_2Cu_3O_y$ (RE123) superconducting matrix. Large melt-textured REBCO bulk crystals have been fabricated with the TSMG(top-seeded melt growth) technique. Mechanical properties of REBCO bulks have been improved by using the Ag additive or epoxy resin. Real bulk applications such as current lead, fault current limiter, flywheel energy storage system, magnetic field source, magnetic separation system, and etc., surely come true near future.
An electromagnetic excitation force is caused by the air-gap flux density, which greatly influences the noise and vibration of the motor. In many real projects, skewed slot technology is widely used to reduce the harmonic components of the air-gap flux density to reduce the noise and vibration of the motor. However, a skewed slot has several side effects such as a transverse current and axial drifting. Thus, a double skewed slot rotor is selected with the aim of eliminating these side effects. This paper presents the exact structure of the double skewed slot rotor and the mechanism whereby the electromagnetic excitation force can be reduced. A multi-slice method is adopted to model the special structure. Finite element simulation is used to verify the theory.
In this paper, Computer Aided Optimum Design Technique for Three-Phase Induction Motors is proposed. In the technique, reference magnetic flux, specific electric loading factor, specific magnetic loading factor(magnetic flux density) and current density are adopted as design parameters, and minimum total cost including material cost and loss power cost is adopted as a objective function which has to satisfy output condition too. As a result of application to the existing motor, it is proved that this technique is very effective in view of gradually increasing energy costs.

Up to now, DC-biased magnetic properties have been measured in one dimension (scalar). However, scalar magnetic properties are insufficient to clarify DC-biased magnetic properties because scalar magnetic properties can only impossibly consider the phase difference between the magnetic flux density B vector and the magnetic field strength H vector. Thus the magnetic field strength H and magnetic flux density B in magnetic materials must be directly measured as a vector quantity (two-dimensional). This paper presents measurement system to clarify the two-dimensional DC-biased magnetic properties.
