Solar cells, converting abundant solar energy into electrical energy, are considered crucial for sustainable energy generation. Recent advancements focus on nanoparticle-enhanced solar cells to overcome limitations and improve efficiency. These cells offer two potential efficiency enhancements. Firstly, plasmonic effects through nanoparticles can improve optical performance by enhancing absorption. Secondly, nanoparticles can improve charge transport and reduce recombination losses, enhancing electrical performance. However, factors like nanoparticle size, placement, and solar cell structure influence the overall performance. This study evaluates the performance of silver nanoparticles incorporated in a p-i-n structure of perovskite solar cells, generated via aerosol state by the evaporation and condensation system. The silver nanoparticles deposited between the hole transport layer and transparent electrode form nanoparticle embedded transport layer (NETL). The evaluation of the optoelectronic properties of perovskite devices using NETL demonstrates their potential for improving efficiency. The findings highlight the possibility of nanoparticle incorporation in perovskite solar cells, providing insights for sustainable energy generation.
The building construction sector has been blamed as the main culprit of environmental contamination worldwide. So, there shall be some constructive alternatives in architectural engineering. As one of the alternatives, the LEED ("Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design") has been introduced since 1990s and has been well recognized in saving the resources and energy. "LEED" has also been introduced in Korea since 2002 but it has not put priority on the eco-friendliness of indoor space. In this study, the international and domestic green systems were analyzed and compared in order to restructure the checklist for indoor space. Using the restructured checklists, the questionnaire were sent to 180 people using 6 office buildings which passed the domestic "LEED" certification. LEED certification system put priority on the air quality and heating/cooling environment in its evaluation section and items. However, according to the results of the study, it was found that the people using the buildings were not satisfied enough with the air environment of buildings along with their other indoor environment items. This shows that even though the office buildings are designed according to the requirements of LEED, the buildings do not meet the occupier's needs. In addition, it showed that the evaluation items should be improved so that they are useful to enhance the satisfaction of the occupiers' needs. The paper could be useful in establishing standard for eco friendliness of indoor space of office buildings which pass the LEED certification as the basic data for increasing energy efficiency and working efficiency of occupiers of the buildings.
This Hydrokinetic energy system is the process of extracting energy from rivers, canals and others sources to generate small scale electrical energy for decentralized usage. This study investigates the application of Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) in Geographical Information System (GIS) environment to evaluate the theoretical hydrokinetic energy potentials of selected Rivers (Asa, Awun and Oyun) all in Asa watershed, Kwara state, Nigeria. SWAT was interfaced with an open source GIS system to predict the flow and other hydrological parameters of the sub-basins. The model was calibrated and validated using observed stream flow data. Calibrated flow results were used in conjunction with other parameters to compute the theoretical hydrokinetic energy potentials of the Rivers. Results showed a good correlation between the observed flow and the simulated flow, indicated by ash Sutcliffe Efficiency (NSE) and R2 of 0.76 and 0.85, respectively for calibration period, and NSE and R2 of 0.70 and 0.74, respectively for the validation period. Also, it was observed that highest potential of 154.82 MW was obtained along River Awun while the lowest potential of 41.63 MW was obtained along River Asa. The energy potentials obtained could be harnessed and deployed to the communities around the watershed for their energy needs.
Recently design standard for energy-saving in apartment buildings has been consolidated gradually on the basis of evaluation and certification standards of energy efficiency of buildings, the energy-saving policy of building at home and abroad. Performance criteria for thennal insulation as well as fenestration has been progressively enhanced, and performance criteria for ventilation and airtightness of the building have also been re-developed. Therefore, heating and cooling load characteristics of the apartment building can be changed. For the design of the upcoming heating and cooling equipment in apartment buildings, it is necessary to evaluate the heating and cooling load characteristics according to the design strategies for energy saving in apartment buildings. As a result, in this study, it is intended to use as a resource for analyzing the impact that the adoption of energy-saving design variables for each of the apartment buildings, to predict the heating and cooling load characteristics in the apartment building.
Undercutting using an actuated disc cutter (ADC) involves more complex cutting mechanism than traditional rock cutting does, requiring the application of various new cutting parameters, such as eccentricity, cutter inclination angle, and axis rotational speed. This study presents cutting-edge laboratory-scale testing equipment that allows performing ADC tests. ADC tests were carried out on a concrete block with a specified strength of 20 MPa, using a variety of cutting settings that included penetration depth (p), eccentricity (e), and linear velocity (v). ADC, unlike pick and disc cutting, has a non-linear cutting path with a dynamic cutting direction, requiring the development of a new method for predicting cutting force and specific energy. The influence of cutting parameters to the cutter forces were discussed. The ratio of eccentricity to the penetration depth (e/p) was proposed to evaluate the optimal cutting condition. Specific energy varies with e/p ratio, and exhibits optimum values in particular cases. In general, actuated undercutting may potentially give a more efficient cutting than conventional pick and disc cutting by demonstrating reasonably lower specific energy in a comparable cutting environment.
In this century, scientists realized that carbon dioxide gas in the atmosphere cause a greenhouse effect which affects the planet's temperature. Therefore lots of attempts have carried out to decrease the discharge of carbon dioxide gas in the field. The dissolved carbon dioxide flotation (DCF) process was developed as an alternative of DAF process to decrease the discharge and reuse of carbon dioxide as well as to save energy consumption. To investigate the particle separation characteristics and the flotation efficiency of carbon dioxide, SCC model was employed in the DCF process which has been applied extensively for the evaluation and simulation in the DAF process. The simulation results by the SCC model revealed the predicted curve of flotation efficiency became decreased gradually over the optimal pressure range of saturator about 1.6 atm in accordance with the experiment results of the DCF pilot plant and the size distribution and the bubble volume concentration of $CO_{2}$ bubbles depending on the operation pressure of saturator. The findings through the simulation results led to the conclusion that there was no significant difference between $CO_{2}$ bubbles and air bubbles, affecting on the practical flotation efficiency, in terms of the initial collision and attachment efficiency.

Recently, the crude oil price per one barrel in 2005 cost 49.4 dollars. But the value of crude oil in 2007 had ascended 68.4 dollars which was skyrocketed 38.5[%] owing to the sudden rise of energy price. As it has been growing the necessity of energy efficiency, energy intentive companies actively try to implement energy management system It has been studied to improve the energy saving for household sector using the smart metering system which can give the information of energy prices, pattern on real time to energy consumers and voluntarily lead the activities of energy saving. In this paper, we estimated potential benefits and value of smart metering system through california test.

In this paper, we implement the SIFT(Scale-Invariant Feature Transform) algorithm for feature point extraction using a many-core processor, and analyze the performance, area efficiency, and system area efficiency of the many-core processor. In addition, we demonstrate the potential of the proposed many-core processor by comparing the performance of the many-core processor with that of high-performance CPU and GPU(Graphics Processing Unit). Experimental results indicate that the accuracy result of the SIFT algorithm using the many-core processor was same as that of OpenCV. In addition, the many-core processor outperforms CPU and GPU in terms of execution time. Moreover, this paper proposed an optimal model of the SIFT algorithm on the many-core processor by analyzing energy efficiency and area efficiency for different octave sizes.

In this paper, Gas engine was tested for the energy of synthesis gas. As excess air ratio increase 1, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.6 in 1800 rpm and synthesis gas, thermal efficiency generally decrease and power generation was 34 kWm at λ 1.4. And excess air ratio increase 1, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 in power generation 34 kWm, thermal efficiency generally increase 34.2%, 36.9%, 37.2%, 37.4%, 38.1%. Total efficiency through power generation consumes 38.7 kg/h of fuel at 30 kWe load and recovers 57.3% of waste heat by recovering 57.3 kW of waste heat through 32.1% power generation efficiency and heat recovery from cooling water and exhaust gas. The total efficiency was 85.8%.
This study examines building's power consumption unit cost and Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV)'s generation efficiency and load rate with the subjects of university dormitory buildings in order to suggest foundational data for new and recycled energy use and management to plan and operate university dormitories afterwards. Thereby, this research gained the following findings. 1. The quantity of solar radiation and efficiency change in the BIPV system applied to the research subject buildings after the lapse of time was averagely 8.7%, and it is thought that temperature increase determines conversion efficiency with the influence of surrounding outside temperature and the module's temperature. 2. The generation efficiency of the BIPV system in the research subject buildings was averagely 10.9%. In May, it was 13.9%, and in January, it was the lowest as 10.25%. Considering the fact that power consumption reduces during an intermediate period, it will be necessary to establish measures for equipment and power consumption load balancing. 3. The monthly load rate of the BIPV system was averagely 4.09%. In May, it was the highest as 4.94%, and in July, it was the lowest as 3.24%. 4. It is intended to conduct constant follow-up research on estimating university dormitory building's power consumption unit cost and examining the generation efficiency and load rate of the BIPV system.
