Crawler-type hydraulic devices facilitate forward and backward driving of construction equipment by converting power into mechanical energy. The existing hydraulic device performance test process is time- and labor-intensive. This study aims to improve efficiency and productivity by automating the hydraulic device production performance test processes, which have been separately conducted so far. We also used SolidWorksⓇ, a 3D modeling program, and ANSYSⓇ, a structural analysis tool, for structural analysis and to verify the suitability of fixing pins required for connecting a hydraulic device to performance test equipment. Our results that employing an automated hydraulic device performance test process improves efficiency.
CO2 electroreduction is considered as a means to overcome climate change by converting CO2 into value-added chemicals and liquid fuels. Although numerous researchers have screened versatile metal for the use of electrodes, and looked into the reaction mechanism, it is still required to develop highly enhanced electrocatalyst for CO2 reduction to reach beyond lab-scale. Plasma treatment applying onto the surface of meal electrodes could improve activity, selectivity and stability of the electrocatalysts. This review highlights the effect of plasma pretreatment, and provides insight to design suitable CO2 electrocatalyst.
The high costs for ethanol production with lignocellulosic biomass as a second generation energy materials currently deter commercialization of lignocellulosic biomass, especially wood biomass which is considered as the most recalcitrant material for enzymatic hydrolysis mainly due to the high lignified structure and the nature of the lignin component. Therefore, overcoming recalcitrance of lignocellulosic biomass for converting carbohydrates into sugar that can subsequently be converted into biobased fuels and biobased products is the primary technical and economic challenge for bioconversion process. This study was mainly reviewed on the research trend of the enhancement of enzymatic hydrolysis for lignocellulosic biomass after pretreatment in bioethanol production process.
This study assessed the removal efficiency of NOM which is known as the precursors of DBPs in advanced water treatment using the ceramic membrane filtration, introduced the first in the nation at the Y water treatment plant (WTP). It is generally well-known that the removal of NOM by MF Membrane is very low in water treatment process. But, the result of investigation on removal efficiency of NOM in advanced water treatment using the ceramic membrane was different as follows. The removal rate of organic contaminant by the ceramic membrane advanced water treatment was determined to be 65.5% for the DOC, 85.8% for UV254, and 77 to 86% for DBPFP. The removal rate of pre-ozonation was found to be 6 to 15% more effective compared with the pre-chlorination. The removal rate of DOC and $UV_{254}$ in biological activated carbon(BAC) process was over 50% and 75%, respectively although the rate was decreased 10 ~ 20% according to analysis items in converting from GAC to BAC.
This study was conducted to investigate instant coffee-mix intakes and its relations with anthropometric measurements, nutrient intake, and blood lipid in Gangneung and Samcheok residents. Coffee-mix is a mixture of instant coffee, sugar and coffee-creamer. It is a standardized convenience food in Korea. Recently, Koreans appear to consume too much of instant coffee-mix. The respondents of this study were 218 Koreans (Gangneung region 133, Samcheok region 85). The average age was 56.0 years (male), 57.5 years (female). They were divided into 2 groups, the instant coffee-mix drinkers and the non-drinkers. The nutrient intake and anthropometric measurements and their relations with coffee-mix intakes were analyzed (nutrient intakes were calculated by converting per 1,000 kcal and adjusted by age, region). As for male, body fat was significantly higher in coffee-mix drinkers (18.1 kg, 25.0%) than in non-drinkers (17.1 kg, 23.8%). In the case of females, serum triglyceride was significantly higher in coffee-mix drinkers (109.1 mg/dL) than in nondrinkers (102.9 mg/dL). Coffee-mix intakes and coffee-mix's contributions to energy were higher for participants from Samcheok (21.2 g, 4.7%) than those from Gangneung (16.6 g, 3.4%). In addition, for Samcheok, coffee-mix's contribution to energy was significantly higher in male (5.6%) than in female (4.2%). Coffee-mix intakes and energy contribution of coffee-mix were not significantly correlated with anthropometric measurements. Only HDL-cholestrol showed significantly negative correlation with coffee-mix's contributions to energy. Based on the above results, we conclude that usual instant coffee-mix intake may increase intakes of sugar and fat and exert negative effects on serum lipids. Therefore, it is needed to control too much instant coffee-mix intake in the dietary management of rural residents.
Infrared multiphoton dissociation (IRMPD) spectra of various protonated 1,2-diaminoethane-water clusters DAE-$H^+-(H_2O)_n$ (n = 1-6) were measured in the wavelength range of 3000-3800 $cm^{-1}$. The IRMPD spectra of the well separated ionic clusters were simulated by the MP2 method employing various basis sets. Comparison of the IRMPD spectra with the theory indicates that each cluster may exist as several low-lying conformers, and the sum spectra of the various conformers reveal almost one to one correspondence between theory and experiment. Free N-H and O-H stretches are observed in the ranges of 3400-3500 and 3600-3800 $cm^{-1}$, respectively. The $O-H{\cdots}N$ and $N-H{\cdots}O$ stretches are, however, observed in the broad region of 3000-3600 $cm^{-1}$. The theoretical calculations on DAE-$H^+-(H_2O)_n$ (n = 1-4) show gradual decrease of the average binding energy between DAE-$H^+$ and $H_2O$ as the cluster size increases, attaining the lowest value of 55 kJ/mol when n = 4. We found a low energy barrier of 21 kJ/mol to the isomerization converting the lowest energy cluster of DAE-$H^+-(H_2O)_n$ to the second lowest one.
Dimethyl ether (DME) is a new clean fuel as an environmentally-benign energy resource. DME can be manufactured from various energy sources including natural gas, coal, and biomass. In addition to its environmentally friendly properties, DME has similar characteristics to those of LPG. The aim of this article is to represent the development of new DME process with KOGAS's own technologies. KOGAS has investigated and developed new innovative DME synthesis process from synthesis gas in gaseous phase fixed bed reactor. DME has been traditionally produced by the dehydration of methanol which is produced from syngas, a product of natural gas reforming. This traditional process is thus called the two-step method of preparing DME. However, DME can also be manufactured directly from syngas (single-step). The single-step method needs only one reactor for the synthesis of DME, instead of two for the two-step process. It can also alleviate the thermodynamic limitations associated with the synthesis of methanol, by converting the produced methanol into DME, thereby potentially enhancing the overall conversion of syngas into DME. KOGAS had launched the 10 ton/day DME demonstration plant project in 2004 at Incheon KOGAS LNG terminal. In the mid of 2008, KOGAS had finished the construction of this plant and has successively finished the demonstration plant operation. And since 2008, we have established the basic design of commercial plant which can produce 3,000 ton/day DME.

Recent advances in radio frequency (RF) power transfer provide a promising technology to power sensor nodes. Adoption of mobile chargers to replenish the nodes' energy has recently attracted a lot of attention and the mobility assisted energy replenishment provides predictable and sustained power service. In this paper, we study the joint optimization of mobile charging and data gathering in sensor networks. A wireless multi-functional vehicle (WMV) is employed and periodically moves along specified trajectories, charge the sensors and gather the sensed data via one-hop communication. The objective of this paper is to maximize the uplink throughput by optimally allocating the time for the downlink wireless energy transfer by the WMV and the uplink transmissions of different sensors. We consider two scenarios where the WMV moves in a straight line and around a circle. By time discretization, the optimization problem is formulated as a 0-1 programming problem. We obtain the upper and lower bounds of the problem by converting the original 0-1 programming problem into a linear programming problem and then obtain the optimal solution by using branch and bound algorithm. We further prove that the network throughput is independent of the WMV's velocity under certain conditions. Performance of our proposed algorithm is evaluated through extensive simulations. The results validate the correctness of our proposed theorems and demonstrate that our algorithm outperforms two baseline algorithms in achieved throughput under different settings.
Solar energy harvesting is practiced by various nations for the purpose of energy security and environment preservation in order to reduce overdependence on oil. Converting solar energy into electrical energy through Photovoltaic (PV) module can take place either in on-grid or off-grid applications. In recent time Lithium battery is exhibiting its presence in on-grid applications but its role in off-grid application is rarely discussed in the literature. The preliminary capacity and Peukert's study indicated that the battery quality is good and can be subjected for life cycle test. The capacity of the battery was 10.82 Ah at 1 A discharge current and the slope of 1.0117 in the Peukert's study indicated the reaction is very fast and independent on rate of discharge. In this study Lithium Iron Phosphate battery (LFP) after initial characterization was subjected to life cycle test which is specific to solar off-grid application as defined in IEC standard. The battery has delivered just 6 endurance units at room temperature before its capacity reached 75% of rated value. The low life of LFP battery in off-grid application is discussed based on State of Charge (SOC) operating window. The battery was operated both in high and low SOC's in off-grid application and both are detrimental to life of lithium battery. High SOC operation resulted in cell-to-cell variation and low SOC operation resulted in lithium plating on negative electrode. It is suggested that to make it more suitable for off-grid applications the battery by default has to be overdesigned by nearly 40% of its rated capacity.
