As a result, the first, nutrient is what is originated from water and food at middle energizer and circulated in meridian vessel by control of spleen. The second, blood is what is originated from qi of water and food and circulated in blood vessel by control of heart and its color is red. The third, nutrient blood is what is originated from water and food or qi of water and food and circulated in meridian or blood vessel by control of spleen and heart. • In our review, the conclusions on the concept and principle of perspiration are as follows. 1. It is the physiological perspiration that Qingyang(淸陽) from Jing(精), Qi(氣), Xie(血) synthesized by digestion of food and drink(水穀), is increased and secreted from pores on the skin(腠理). 2. The main center to control perspiration is heart(心), but lver(肝), stomach(胃), spleen(脾), lung(肺), bladder(膀胱), kidney(腎) and triple energizer(三焦) can be also related to perspiration indirectly. 3. As Weiqi(衛氣) make the body warm and keep the body temperature constant by controlling perspiration, it is very important to make a diagnosis of Weiqi(衛氣) Xushi(虛實) by skin temperature. 4. We guess that perspiration can be secreted by the control of BiaoLi-YinYang(表裏陰陽) such as centrifugal(氣) and centrifetal force(形) of Qi(氣). 5. Sweating therapy can make the level of Biaoyang(表陽) correct and control the balance between centrifugal(氣) and centrifetal force(形) of Qi(氣).

  • In order to propose a fundamental and appliable theories for balancing therapy of temporomandibular joint (TMBT), evolutionary proofs and up-down theories in evolutionary biology and Korean medicine were investigated. Balancing therapy of temporomandibular joint treats disorder and diseases of the whole body through straightening of the abnormal linking between temporomandibular joint and axis. Although the mechanism of this therapy contains many merits like multicellular integrity and coadjustment, ease of balance and alert forward mobility by the bipedal stepping and evolution to Homo sapiens, increasing disadvantages of balancing pressure of right and left in the lengthened perpendicular axis and the balancing load of temporomandibular joint and axis following the reactional change of dental occlusion are deeply related and considered in this therapy. As for up-down theory, crossing of heavenly qi and earth qi centering on cervical joint is presented as the first mechanism for TMBT, and the other ones like in-out and up-down qi activity of tripple energizer, up-down of essence-qi-spirit in the three backbone barrier and three cinnabar field, up-down of yin-yang-water-fire of viscera and bowels can be related too.

  • Objectives : In the meridian pathway system, 5 yang meridians excluding bladder meridian pass ST12. In this study, we tried to find out why 5 yang meridians pass ST12. Methods : 15 classics of acupuncture and moxibustion literature - 『Huangdimingtangjingjixiao』, 『Zhenjiujiayijing』, 『Huangdineijingtaisu』, 『Beijiqianjinyaofang』, 『Waitaimiyaofang』, 『Ishimpo』, 『Taipingshenghuifang』, 『Tongrenshuxue-zhenjiutujing』, 『Zhenjiuzishengjing』, 『Shisijingfahui』, 『Zhenjiujuying』, 『Yixuerumen』, 『Zhenjiudacheng』, 『Leijing』, and 『Leijingtuyi』- were reviewed and compared. Results : Five yang meridians passed ST12, and large intestine meridian and triple energizer meridian were closely related to ST12 in divergent channels. Stomach meridian and gall bladder meridian were related to ST12 in meridian muscles. ST12 was related to small intestine meridian in main cure effect. ST12 is in the best position to enter the body cavity. Conclusions : It can be seen that ST12 is closely related to all internal organs through the characteristics of stomach meridian. Therefore, it is thought that ST12's various characteristics largely explains a pathway to enter the body cavity in the hand and foot three yang meridians.

  • Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate Ryodoraku diagnosis and evaluation of low back pain reported in Korean, Japanese, Chinese and English. Methods: Using web search on five Korean databases, two Japanese, one Chinese and one English, we selected studies on Ryodoraku diagnosis and evaluation of low back pain. Results: Our initial search returned 26 Korean studies, 17 Japanese, 2 Chinese and 1 English. From them, we found 14 studies suitable for the purpose of this study. In general low back pain, studies showed that F4 (bladder) was the most frequently suggested abnormal Ryodoraku. In specific low back pain, Ryodoraku had no recognizable relation to disease-specific low back pain, but abnormal Ryodoraku of F2 (liver) and F5 (gall bladder) was frequently observed. More foot Ryodoraku showed abnormal than hand Ryodoraku. Conclusions: The diagnostic values of Ryodoraku for F2 (liver), F4 (bladder), H5 (triple energizer), F3 (kidney), and F5 (gall bladder) can be good diagnostic references, and future studies should be conducted on the aspect of differentiation of symptoms and signs.
