  • Efficient development of method on a performance evaluation for machine tools has been regarded as the most important work for accuracy and quality enhancement to every user and manufacturer. A evaluation method of accuracy for machine tools has been studied recently according to the rapid increase of interest in precision machine tools. To this point of view, the circular interpolation test of machine tools is recognized as the most useful method to distinguish a dynamic accuracy of NC machine tools by ISO and ANSI/ASME, etc. In this paper, we have studied and developed the form measurement system with grid encoder to analyse the final accuracy of NC machine tools. we have analyzed the servo system error and geometric error of NC machine tools through measuring a dynamic error signal by this system. and then we verified the experimental result and enhanced the reliability by means of comparing the characteristics of the developed system with the kinematic ball-bar system.

  • The architecture and functions of a prototype free ranging AGV system are described in this paper. The system has single tricycle configuration - the front wheel is driven and steered simultaneously. The primary position measurement device of this system is the redundant encoder system - an absolute encoder for the steering angle measurement of the front wheel, two incremental encoders for the measurement of the rear wheel rotations. The secondary position measurement device is implemented to reduce the accumulatad error in encoder measurements. The extended Kalman filter is suggested to combine the conflict measurement data for the proper position estimation.

  • Recently, nano-methodology is increasingly important as the ruler for measuring nano-technology, and we applied the linear encoder to nano-methodology. The quadrature output in the linear encoder has an effect on increasing the resolution in some techniques. Already, various interpolation techniques based on the quadrature signal have applied to the precision servo system. In this paper, we propose a new interpolation algorithm for ultra-precision positioning in the low speed with simulation by MATLAB SIMULINK. This method modified previous methods and was properly designed for some given control system. To verify, we first fulfilled the encoder signal test to find main parameters fer the signal transformation, then we proved the proposed interpolation algorithm by experiments, which show that the result of the interpolation algorithm corresponds with the measurement of the laser interferometer in 100 nm unit approximately. In addition, we can get more precise measurement by more accurate and noise-free signal. So we need to compensate imperfections in the encoder signal. After that, we will apply this algorithm to nano positioning system.

  • In robot operation, a motor with multi-degree of freedom motion control and an encoder for motor control are needed. To perform precise motion, location, and velocity control, the operation of motor and encoder with superior performance is important. In this paper, we studied performance evaluation system that can evaluate the performance of motor and encoder. The performance of motor and encoder can be evaluated in terms of disconnection check, signal variation count, and U, V, W signal check. Disconnection check verifies signal connection between a motor and an encoder, signal variation check verifies A, B signal by counting the number of signal A, B when a motor revolves, and U, V, W signal check verifies operating direction of a motor. The result is shown at graphic LCD integrated in system, and can be checked in PC with PC communication.

  • This paper proposed a new method for the measurement of optical encoder. So far several methods were used for the encoder measurements, there were noise problems and needed many space to realize it. Specially, it is more serious under the multi-motor system. In this paper, we adapted the PIC microcontroller and replaced the TTL logics with the PIC software. Therefore, the effects of noise can be reduced, and we can realize the measuring method for the optical encoder under multi-motor system within one millisecond time base.

  • In this paper, a mobile robot is designed for the blind guidance. This system is composed of an Ultrasonic Ranging Vnit, PWM Vnit, Optical Encoder Vnit. Specilly we adapted Distance Comparison Measurement Method (DCMM) in order to compensate for the error resulted from atmospheric conditions, and PWM unit for the vehicle control and Optical encoder unit for the correct locomotion control. This system is processed, using MCS-85 microcomputer, much of information on surrounding conduitions in real time. We rotated ultrasonic sensor for many sifted data acquisition and used tone generator for the Man-Machine Communication. As a result, the measurement error of the distance is about 1cm, the distance measurement could be detected 0.2m to 6m. The locomotion speed is 0.4m/sec and we examined its practical use.

  • In this paper, a instantaneous speed measurement method using a three phase sinusoidal encoder is described and it's simulations are developed. The proposed method can easily detect the AC motor speed by using that the encoder is propotion to the AC motor speed. The performance of proposed method is confirmed by computer simulation and experiment results. The high accuracy of the optimum control system, AC motor speed detection is designed and proposed.

  • Generally, we often use a speed sensor based on a rotary encoder and we can obtain a speed information by counting the increased or decreased number of encoder pulses in a sampling period. However, these speed measurement systems do not inherently produce a true, instantaneous speed information and them the speed ripple is generated by speed measurement errors. In order to overcome this problem, speed observer is used for the accurate speed measurement and improvement of speed ripple for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) in this paper. Speed observer estimates the instantaneous speed at each sampling instant. This estimated speed signal is then used as the speed feedback signal for the speed loop control. The proposed speed observer system is proved simulation using SABER simulation S/W.

  • The object of this paper is to investigate a PCM telemetry system which is designed and constructed in individual modules for an airborne remote measurement system for the first time in Korea. The time division multiplexing PCM encoder has maximum allowable input channels 64 words/frame, 140kbits/sec bit rate. 200frames/sec and 10 bits/wod resolution. And the transmitting unit is designed for 2.2-2.3GHz(s-band) telemetry frequency band, PCM/FM modulation. The Study of airborne PCM telemtry system contribute to develop a device which can acquire various technical data of newly developing flying vehicles by remote measurement. The performance of the proposed system has been verified through a seguence of tests.

  • In this paper, we proposes real-time operating system based PCM encoder for telemetry system that must transmit frames within a set time. In the case of large aircraft, the complexity of the system is increasing because a lot of state information is measured from each sensor and peripheral device. In addition, as the amount measurement data increases, the role of PCM encoder to transmit frames within a set time is becoming important. Existing encoder is inflexible when changing specifications or implementing additional features. Therefore, a design is needed to supplement this. We propose a PCM encoder design applying uC/OS-II. In order to confirm the validity, a simulation was performed to measure the execution time of the task to confirm the performance.
