In-House Subcontracting and Industrial Relations in Japanes Steel Industry (일본 철강산업의 사내하청과 노사관계)

  • This article examines the history of the in - house subcontracting and the stabilization of labor - management relations in the steel industry in Japan. The ratio of in-house subcontract workers among steel workers has increased steadily until the mid-2000s, and about 70% in case of the largest company. In-house subcontracting was used as a strategy of the company to increase the quantity flexibility of employment and to save labor costs. The in-house subcontracting company needed company-specialized skills, and the internal labor market was formed because the rate of full-time workers was high and the turnover rate was low. The in-house subcontractor introduced long-term business relationship with the steel factory by introducing the equipment and materials necessary for the performance of the work, and the factory implemented the productivity improvement policy of the in-house subcontractor, and the win-win relationship between the factory and in-house subcontractor was developed. The trade union did not oppose the idea that the expansion of in-house subcontracting contributed to corporate profits, the stability of employment of the members and maintenance of their working conditions. Since 2000, the steel factory has pursued the transformation of in - house subcontractors into subsidiaries, which has been supported by capital relations. By the way, since the mid-2000s, there has been an increase in the number of regular workers' employment. The major factors are as follows: more strengthened compliance with laws and regulations, the higher quality request of customers, stricter keeping of deadlines, and problem in recruiting of workers at in-house subcontract companies. The wage gap between the factory and in - house subcontracting was less at company B than at company S, and the wage level of in - house subcontracting was about 90% of the factory at company B. The relatively small gap at company B seems to be due to the union's movement of narrowing the gap, low market dominance and unfavorable labor market. The internal labor market has been formed in the in-house subcontracting, and the wage gap is not large, and the possibility of labor disputes is low. Industrial relations are stable in the in-house subcontract company as well as the factory. The stabilization of labor-management relations in the steel industry in Korea is required to reduce the wage gap between the factory and in-house subcontract enterprises by raising productivity and expanding the internal labor market at in-house subcontract enterprises.

Analysis of the operation status and opinion on the improvement of fishing vessel structure in coastal improved stow net fishery by the questionnaire survey (설문조사를 통한 연안개량안강망어업의 조업 실태 및 어선 구조 개선에 관한 의견 분석)

  • In order to understand basic data for improving the fishing system and fishing vessel structure in coastal improved stow net fishery, a questionnaire survey and on-site hearing were conducted from May 10 to June 11, 2019 to analyze opinions on the improvement of operation status and fishing vessel structure. The questionnaire survey consisted of ten questions on the operation status of coastal improved stow net fishery and six questions on the improvement of fishing vessel structure, and the results of each question were analyzed by the region, the captain's age, the captain's career and the age of fishing vessel. As a result of analyzing opinions on the operation status of the coastal improved stow net fishery, it was found that the average time required for casting net was 32.8 to 33.0 minutes and that the average time required for hauling net was 41.0 to 42.2 minutes which took 10 to 12 minutes more than for casting net. The most important work requiring improvement during fishing operation (the first priority) were 'hauling net operation,' 'readjustment and storage of fishing gear,' and 'fish handling' and the hardest factor in fishing management were in the order of 'reduction of catch,' 'labor shortage' and 'rising labor costs.' The most institutional improvement that is most needed in coastal improved stow net fishery was an 'using fine mesh nets.' Most of the respondent to the questions on the experience in hiring foreign crews was 'either hiring or willing to hire foreign crews,' and the average number of foreign crews employed was found to be 2.3 to 2.4 persons. The most important reason for hiring (or considering employment) foreign crews was 'high labor costs.' The degree of communication with foreign crews during fishing operation were 'moderate' or 'difficult to direct work.' The most important problem in hiring foreign crews (the first priority) was an 'illegal departure.' As the survey results on the opinion of structural improvement of coastal improved stow net fishing vessel, the degree of satisfaction with fishing vessel structure related to fishing operation was found to be somewhat unsatisfactory, with an average of 3.3 points on a five-point scale. The inconvenient structure of fishing vessel in possession (the first priority), the space needed most for the construction of new fishing vessel (the first priority) and the space considered important for the construction of new fishing vessel (the first prioprity) was a 'fish warehouse.' The most preferred equipment for the construction of new fishing vessel were 'engine operation monitoring' and 'navigation safety devices.' The average size (tonnage class), the average horse power and the average total length of fishing vessel for proper profit and safety fishing operation was between 13.8 and 14.0 tonnes, 808.3 to 819.5 H.P. and 23.4 to 23.5 meters, respectively. The results of the operation status of coastal improved stow net fishery and the requirement for improving the fishing vessel structure are expected to be provided as basic data for reference when we build or improve the fishing vessel.

  • Objectives : This study provides dental care organization that is responsible for services of dental hygienists to measure levels of empowerment and organizational commitment to. The impact of empowerment on organizational commitment is a variable that has to validate the improvement of organizational commitment of dental hygienists to have been studied for the suggestions. The study period 2009 July 1 to August 30 at Jeonju Jeollabuk dental material and dental hygienists are working in medical institutions to target a total of 336 copies (88.4%) and for analysis of the data was studied. Methods : For data analysis SPSS (Statistial Package for the Social Science) WIN 12.0 program using frequency analysis, T-test and One-way ANOVA test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, linear regression analysis was conducted through the following. Results : 1. Demographic characteristics (education, salary, age, workplace), the empowerment and organizational commitment as the decisive factor affecting the level was a significant difference. 2. Education, salary, age and demographic characteristics of the working period of the empowerment uimiseong, yeokryangseong, self-determination, but no significant differences in impacts factors, work factors, not only was a significant difference uimiseong. 3. Demographic characteristics (education, salary, age, duration of employment, workplace), the affective commitment, normative commitment, ever, ever commitment and showed significant differences remain. 4. The higher the level of empowerment of the subjects that were higher organizational commitment, was a significant difference. 5. Empowerment and Organizational Commitment of subjects related factors were analyzed in all the variables showed a significant correlation between. Conclusions : Dental health agencies that provide services of dental hygienists to improve empowerment and organizational commitment to develop a structured management program, a dental hygienist job dental hygienist program and professional standards for the continuous and systematic research.   • This study aims to discuss the characteristics on marketing distribution of landscape materials after consideration in the side of cognition on the present condition of marketing which is important factors for analysis in understanding the market of landscape materials. To do this, the investigation of marketing distribution are to collect data refer to purchases and sales reports and questionnaires, these results are used to analyzed the operative factor of forming market structure and problematic, improvement spot of marketing distribution. A Correlation Study on the Relationship between Motivation for Achievement and Satisfaction on Clinical Practice in EMT students (응급구조과 학생의 성취동기와 임상실습 만족도와의 상관성 연구)

  • Purpose : This study examines satisfaction of students at the department of Emergency Medical Technology with clinical practice and relationship between motivation of achievement and satisfaction with clinical practice and aims to provide basic materials contributing to the improvement of clinical practice education. Method : It selected 237 students in the second and third grade at the dept. of Emergency Medical and having experience in clinical practice as the subjects, collected data from Sept. 1 to 30, 2007 and analyzed 237 questionnaires collected with SPSS 12.0 program. Result : 1. Degree of motivation of achievement scored 3.46 of full marks of five points and they showed motivation of achievement over average score. Students who entered the dept. of Emergency medical after beginning social career(3.78) showed higher motivation of achievement in the period of entrance and group having will to be volunteer(3.66) showed the highest motivation of achievement in selecting this major. The better personal relationship they have, the greater hospital grade and the higher their transcript, the higher motivation of achievement they have. In the desired area of employment after graduation, first-aid staffs at the field of industry group(3.85) showed the highest motivation of achievement. 2. Degree of their satisfaction with clinical practice scored 3.53 of full marks of five and they showed satisfaction with it over average score. They showed the highest satisfaction in the contents of practice(3.64). 3. There was statistically significant positive correlation between motivation of achievement and satisfaction with clinical practice(r = .165, p < .05). Conclusion : There was statistically significant positive correlation between motivation of achievement and satisfaction with clinical practice. Repeated research through sampling based on probability to generalize relevance of motivation of achievement and satisfaction with clinical practice is needed and further researches on developing program to inspire motivation of achievement in theoretical learning as well as in clinical practice are required.

Effects of Cerebrovascular Disease Prevention Program Designed for Workers in Small Scale Workplaces (소규모 사업장 근로자에 대한 뇌.심혈관질환 예방 프로그램 적용 효과)

  • Objectives: This study was conducted in order to prepare fundamental data and assess the short-term effects of applying cerebrovascular disease prevention programs by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA) in Korea. Methods: The number of study subjects was 2,676 workers (58.5%) who were able to evaluate the level of incidence risk at pre- and post-applications of the program, among the 4,576 total workers who were enrolled in the cerebrovascular disease prevention program during 2011. The guidelines for this prevention program were adopted from KOSHA GUIDE H-1-2010. To determine the program' effectiveness, the workers'risks for cerebrovascular disease were assessed pre- and post-application of the program. Results: The blood pressure level was significantly reduced by 4.09 mmHg for the mean systolic blood pressures and 5.47 mmHg for diastolic blood pressures, respectively. The mean level of total cholesterol and BMI were also reduced significantly by 2.07 g/dl and 0.1 $0.1kg/m^2$. The rate of smoking was decreased by 4.0% and the percentage of workers engaging in regular exercise was increased by 29.8%. The level of overall cerebrovascular disease risk was reduced among 1,451 (70.7%) of 2,052 workers at low risk and above. The level of cerebrovascular disease risk was lower in the improved group for health behavior than the unimproved group (odds ratio =1.7, p < 0.001). Conclusions: The author considers that the application of the cerebrovascular disease prevention program by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency reduced cerebrovascular diseases risks among workers who were enrolled in the cerebrovascular disease prevention program and it must be accompanied by an improvement in health behavior for prevention of cerebrovascular disease.

Development of service industry has solved the employment issue and derived the activation of the internal market. It has contributed to demand creation in health care, education, and culture, enhancing competition of the manufacturing industry and entire economic development. By the development of information communication technologies, improvement of the quality of life from those, and changes in the competitive environment, customers, from businesses and public agencies, or the customer's needs are increasing. In these circumstances, companies are operating non-face-to-face contact call center for the purpose to communicate with customers, handle customer complaints, attract and retain new customers. In this study, to improve the performance of the non-face-to-face contact call center, this study tried to derive the call center's 'Service Process Modeling' and future policy assignment by analyzing the problem from the research of the service and process summary, performance evaluation, call center evaluation and etc.

  • u-City(ubiquitous city) pursuing competitiveness of city and improvement the quality of life needs high cost to build and operate it. But not all people get a benefit by u-City. It is important that low-income people have experienced information divide gain practical benefits in u-City. In this paper, first we selected suitable item of u-service for low-income people and then drew a order of priority using AHP method about legal and institutional conditions, possibility of technical realization, and the generalization. As a result, we prioritize to u-service for low-income people, that is the order is prevention for missing a dotard, safety of street, and information providing about job and employment.

Considerations in work years and dental institution types among some dental hygiene graduates, and ways to improve the clinical dental hygiene society (일부대학 치위생과 졸업생의 근무경력, 근무기관별 취업 시 고려사항 및 임상치위생계의 개선사항)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to provide basic data on the current status and ways to improve the dental hygiene society by investigating working conditions, working experience, dental institution types among some dental hygienists, and ways to improve the dental hygiene society. Methods: This study conducted an online survey to 450 graduates of the department of dental hygiene in colleges in Gyeonggi, Jeolla and Gangwon Provinces. This study got some help in securing the list of graduates from the heads of the departments. SPSS WIN 23.0 was used to analyze the data. Results: To questions on what is the most important thing in considering to apply for jobs, the highest proportion (39.1%) of respondents designated employee welfare, followed by improvement of clinical dental hygiene (34.0%), of welfare related contents (26.0%), and salary (19.5%). In the relationship between employee welfare and dental institution type and between employee welfare and work experience, employee welfare tend to rise with the increase of work years. In the relationship between the director and staff members, it was found that as work years accumulate, the relationship tends to decrease. The dental clinic with no more than five staff members showed the best relationship between the leader and co-workers, while employee welfare was the highest in the other types of clinics, and the differences were statistically significant. Conclusions: Dental hygienists need to make various efforts to improve their statuses as professionals. In order to secure a part of professionalism, it is necessary for them to make more efforts to realize the health-care professionals being promoted by the Dental Hygienists Association of Korea.
