A 10 Gb/s limiting amplifier IC with the emitter area of $1.5{\times}10{\mu}m^2$ for optical transmission system was designed and fabricated with a AIGaAs/GaAs HBTs technology. In this stud)', we evaluated fine pitch bump using WL-CSP (Wafer Level-Chip Scale Packaging) instead of conventional wire bonding for interconnection. For this we developed WL-CSP process and formed fine pitch solder bump with the $40{\mu}m$ diameter and $100{\mu}m$ pitch on bonding pad. To study the effect of WL-CSP, electrical performance was measured and analyzed in wafer and package module using WL-CSP. In a package module, clear and wide eye diagram openings were observed and the riselfall times were about 100ps, and the output" oltage swing was limited to $600mV_{p-p}$ with input voltage ranging from 50 to 500m V. The Small signal gains in wafer and package module were 15.56dB and 14.99dB respectively. It was found that the difference of small signal gain in wafer and package module was less then 0.57dB up to 10GHz and the characteristics of return loss was improved by 5dB in package module. This is due to the short interconnection length by WL-CSP. So, WL-CSP process can be used for millimeter wave GaAs MMIC with the fine pitch pad.
Blue emitting materials, 9,10-bis-biphenyl-4-yl-anthracene (AC-P), 9,10-bis-[1,1';4',1"]terphenyl-4-yl-anthracene (AC-DP), and 9,10-bis[3",5"-deiphenyltriphenyl-4'-yl]anthracene (AC-TP) were synthesized through boration and Suzuki aryl-aryl coupling reaction. EL performance of blue light-emitters was optimized and improved by varying the chemical structures of the side groups. In the thin film state, the three materials exhibit $PL_{max}$ values in the range of 442-456 nm. EL device with the synthesized compounds in the following configuration was fabricated: ITO/4,4',4"-tris(N-(2-naphthyl)-N-phenylamino)triphenylamine (2-TNATA) 60nm/N,N'-bis (naphthalene-1-yl)-N,N'-bis(phenyl)benzidine (NPB) 15nm/synthesized blue emitting materials (30nm)/1,3,5-tri(1-phenyl-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)phenyl (TPBi) 20nm/LiF 1nm/Al 200nm. The current efficiency and C.I.E. value of AC-TP were 3.87 cd/A and (0.15, 0.12). A bulky and non-planar side group helps to prevent ${\pi}-{\pi}^*$ stacking interaction, which should lead to the formation of more reliable amorphous film. This is expected to have a positive effect on the high efficiency of the operating OLED device.

Although the screen printing technology using photosensitive carbon nanotube (CNT) paste has many advantages such as low cost, simple process, uniform emission, and capability of mass production, the CNT paste needs to be improved further in CNT dispersion, printability, adhesion, electrical conductivity, population of CNT emitters, etc. Ball milling has been frequently employed to prepare the CNT paste as ball milling can mix its ingredients very well and easily cut the long, entangled CNTs. This study carried out a parametric approach to fabricating the CNT paste in terms of low-energy ball milling and a paste composition. Field emission properties of the CNT paste was characterized with CNT dispersion and electrical conductivity which were measured by a UV-Vis spectrophotometer and a 4-point probe method, respectively. Main variables in formulating the CNT paste include a length of milling time, and amounts of CNTs and conductive inorganic fillers. In particular, we varied not only the contents of conductive fillers but also used two different sizes of filler particles of ${\mu}m$ and nm ranges. Among many variations of conductive fillers, the best field emission characteristics occurred at the 5 wt% fillers with the mixing ratio of 3:1 for ${\mu}m$-and nm-sizes. The amount and size of fillers has a great effect on the morphology, processing stability, and field emission characteristics of CNT emitter dots. The addition a small amount of nm-size fillers considerably improved the field emission characteristics of the photosensitive CNT paste.

This paper describes the effect of halogenic gettering during oxide passivation of commercial solar cell with the $N^{+}$-P-$N^{+}$ structure. In order to study the effect of halogenic gettering on $N^{+}$-P-$N^{+}$ structure mono-crystalline silicon solar cell, we performed conventional POCl$_3$ diffusion for emitter formation and oxide passivation in the presence of HCl vapors. The $N^{+}$-P-$N^{+}$ structure based silicon solar cells were found to have higher short circuit current and minority carrier lifetime. Their performance was also found to be superior than the conventional $N^{+}$-P-$N^{+}$ structure based mono-crystalline silicon solar cell. The cell parameters of the $n^{+}$-p-$p^{+}$ and $n^{+}$-p-$n^{+}$ structure based cells, passivated by HCl assisted oxidation were measured. The improvement in $I_{sc}$ was attributed to the effect of the increased diffusion length of minority carriers, which came from the halogenic gettering effect during the growth of passivating oxide. The presence of chlorine caused gettering of the cells by removing the heavy metals, if any. The other advantage of the presence of chlorine was the removal of the diffusion induced (in oxygen environment) stacking faults and line defects from the surfaces of the silicon wafers. All these effects caused the improvement of the minority carrier lifetime, which in-turn helped to improve the quality of the solar cells.
Recently, due to the deterioration of watermains and the detachment of scale which is accumulated on the watermain surface, water quality accidents in a water supply network occur frequently. As scale accumulated on watermains is stabilized, it may not cause water quality accidents under the normal operating condition. However, due to water hammer or transient flow caused by the abrupt velocity and/or direction of flow change, it can be detached from the watermain surface resulting in water quality accidents. To prevent these kinds of water quality accidents, it is required to remove scale by watermain cleaning regularly. Many researches about flushing which is the most popular water cleaning method are focused on the desirable velocity criteria and the cleaning condition to accomplish the effect of flushing whereas less amount of research effort is given to develop a method to consider whether the desirable velocity for flushing can be obtained before flushing is performed. During flushing, the major and minor headloss is occurred when flushing water flows through a hydrant or drain valve. These headloss may slow down the velocity of flushing water so that it can reduce the flushing effect. Thus, in this study, we suggest a method to simulate the flow velocity of flushing water using "MinorLoss Coefficient" and "Emitter Coefficient" in EPANET. The suggested method is applied to a sample network and the water supply network of "A" city in Korea to compare the flushing effect between "flushing through a hydrant" and "flushing through a drain valve". In case of "flushing through a hydrant", if the hydraulic condition ocurring from a watermain pipe connecting to the inlet pipe of a hydrant to the outlet of a hydrant is not considered, the actual flowrate and velocity of a flow is less than the simulated flowrate and velocity of a flow. In case of "flushing through a drain valve", the flushing velocity and flowrate can be easily simulated and the difference between the simulated and the actual velocity and flowrate is not significant. Also, "flushing through a drain valve" is very effective to flushing a long-length pipe section because of its efficiency to obtain the flushing velocity. However, the number and location of a drain valve is limited compared to a hydrant so that "flushing through a drain valve" has a limited application in the field. For this reason, the engineer should consider various field conditions to come up with a proper flushing plan.
Purpose: Liquid beta emitter filled in angioplasty balloon could be used to perform endovascular balloon brachytherapy to prevent coronary artery restenosis. We investigated the dosimetry for Re-188-DTPA liquid-filled balloon and medical internal radiation dosimetry in case of balloon leakage. Materials and Methods: We estimated radiation dose from an angioplasty balloon (20 mm length, 3 mm diameter cylinder) to the adjacent vessel wall using Monte Carlo EGS4 code. We obtained time-activity curves of kidneys in normal dog and calculated $T_{max},\;T_{1/2}$. Using MIRDOSE3 program, we estimated absorbed doses to the major organs (kidneys, bladder) and the whole body when we assumed that balloon leaked all the isotope contained. Results: The radiation dose was 17.5 Gy at the balloon surface when we applied 3,700 MBq/ml of Re-188 for 100 seconds, Fifty percent of the energy deposited within 1 mm from the balloon surface. The estimated internal dose to the whole body was 0.005 mGy/MBq and 18.5 mGy for the spillage of 3,700 MBq of Re-188. Conclusion: We suggest that Re-188-DTPA can be used for endovascular balloon brachytherapy to inhibit coronary artery restenosis after angioplasty with tolerable whole body radiation dose in case of balloon rupture.
In this study, the dose distributions of a $^{32}$ p uniform cylindrical volume source and a surface source, a pure $\beta$emitter, were calculated in order to obtain information relevant to the utilization of a balloon catheter and a radioactive stent. The dose distributions of $^{32}$ p were calculated by means of the EGS4 code system. The sources are considered to be distributed uniformly in the volume and on the surface in the form of a cylinder with a radius of 1.5 mm and length of 20 mm. The energy of $\beta$particles emitted is chosen at random in the $\beta$ energy spectrum evaluated by the solution of the Dirac equation for the Coulomb potential. Liquid water is used to simulate the particle transport in the human body. The dose rates in a target at a 0.5mm radial distance from the surface of cylindrical volume and surface source are 12.133 cGy/s per GBq (0.449 cGy/s per mCi, uncertainty: 1.51%) and 24.732 cGy/s per GBq (0.915 cGy/s per mCi, uncertainty: 1.01%), respectively. The dose rates in the two sources decrease with distance in both radial and axial direction. On the basis of the above results, the determined initial activities were 29.69 mCi and 1.2278 $\mu$Ci for the balloon catheter and the radioactive stent using $^{32}$ P isotope, respectively. The total absorbed dose for optimal therapeutic regimen is considered to be 20 Gy and the treatment time in the case of the balloon catheter is less than 3 min. Absorbed doses in targets placed in a radial direction for the two sources were also calculated when it expressed initial activity in a 1 mCi/ml volume activity density for the cylindrical volume source and a 0.1 mCi/cm$^2$ area activity density for the surface source. The absorbed dose distribution around the $^{32}$ P cylindrical source with different size can be easily calculated using our results when the volume activity density and area activity density for the source are known.
