Under-fired charbroiling cooking processes are known as important contributors of particulate matter (PM). In this study, we characterized the emission of particulate matters from under-fired charbroiling cooking processes using the hood method. Accumulated mass concentration of $PM_{10}$ was 92.2~99.5% and particle size of 2.0~2.5 ${\mu}m$ was highest. The concentration of PM increased very sharply at the beginning of charbroiling meats and then gradually decreased as the charbroiling continued. PM concentration also increased very sharply when gravy from meat spilled onto the frame of fire. However, mass concentration during charbroiling using only charcoals was very low compared to that of meats. We estimated the emission factors of charcoal, pork belly and pork shoulder respectively; 0.01~0.02 g/kg, 5.02~6.26 g/kg, 2.86~4.15 g/kg of $PM_{2.5}$, 0.01~0.03 g/kg, 7.44~7.91 g/kg, 4.54~5.56 g/kg of $PM_{10}$, and 0.02~0.05 g/kg, 7.59~7.95 g/kg, 4.93~5.68 g/kg of TSP. The emission factors of charcoal were negligible and the emission factors of pork belly were higher than that of pork shoulder. Emission rates of particulate matters from under-fired charbroiling cooking process were estimated as 578,009~1,265,152 kg/yr of $PM_{2.5}$, 917,539~1,598,619 kg/yr of $PM_{10}$ and 996.358~1,606,703 kg/yr of TSP. But emission factors should be verified with an in-stack cascade impactor because the reported method involves some assumptions.
In this study GC and PAS were used to calculate $N_2O$ concentration of exhaust gas from Wood Chip combustion system. Fuel supplied to the incinerator was collected and analyzed and then the analysis result was used to calculate $N_2O$ emissions. Tier 3 and Tier 4 Method were used to calculate the $N_2O$ emissions. Plant's Specific emission factor of $N_2O$ by Tier 3 Method was 0.35 kg/TJ, while default emission factor of Wood?Wood Waste proposed by 2006 IPCC G/L was 4 kg/TJ. So the $N_2O$ emission factor of this study was 3.65 kg/TJ lower compared to the IPCC G/L. The total emissions calculated by Plant's specific emission factor was 4.22 kg during the measuring period, but by Tier 4 Method it was 7.88 kg. This difference in emissions was caused by the difference of continuous measuring and intermittent sampling. It would be necessary to apply continuous measuring to calculate emissions of $Non-CO_2$ gas whose the density distribution is relatively high. However currently, according to the target management guideline of greenhouse gas and energy, the continuous measuring method to calculate greenhouse gas emission is applied only to $CO_2$. Therefore for reliable greenhouse gas emission calculation it would be necessary to apply continuous measuring to calculate $Non-CO_2$ gas emission.
This study was to investigate the effect of adding additive as tannin, rice husk and charcoal, for reducing the formaldehyde emission level, on the adhesion properties of urea-formaldehyde (UF) resin for particleboard. We controlled the hot-pressing time, temperature and pressure to determine the bonding strength and formaldehyde emission. Blends of various UF resin/additives (tannin, rice husk and charcoal) compositions were prepared. To determine and compare the effect of additives (tannin, rice husk and charcoal) content, 0, 5, 10 and 15%, by weight of UF resin, were used. $NH_4Cl$ as hardener added. To determine the level of formaldehyde emission, we used the desiccator, perforator and 20 L-small chamber method. The formaldehyde emission level decreased with increased additions of additive (except rice husk). Also, increased hot-pressing time decreased formaldehyde emission level. At a charcoal replacement ratio of only 15%, the formaldehyde emission level is under F ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ grade (emit < $0.3mg/{\ell}$). Curing of the high tannin additive content in this adhesive system indicated that the bonding strength increased. But, in the case of rice husk and charcoal, the bonding strength was much lower due to the inorganic substance. Furthermore, rice husk was poor in bonding strength as well as formaldehyde emission than tannin and charcoal.
In this study, the effects of oxygen component in fuel and exhaust gas recirculation(EGR) method on the exhaust emissions has been investigated for a D.I. diesel engine. It was tested to estimate change of exhaust emission characteristics for the commercial diesel fuel and oxygenate blended fuel which has five kinds of blending ratio. Dimethoxy methane(DMM) contains oxygen component 42.5% in itself. and it is a kind of effective oxygenated fuel for reduction of smoke emission. It was affirmed that smoke emission was decreased with increasing of DMM blending ratio. But, NOx emission was increased compared with commercial diesel fuel. It was needed a NOx reduction countermeasure that EGR method was used as a countermeasure for NOx reduction. It was found that simultaneous reduction of smoke and NOx emission was achieved with DMM blended fuel and cooled EGR method($10{\sim}15%$).
Directional emission of light exiting a photonic crystal waveguide by a coherent action of radiative surface modes was recently demonstrated, and subsequently the substantial enhancement of the directional emission was achieved by engineering the surface and adjusting relevant parameters. Here we present the analysis of surface modes causing the enhanced emission by the plane wave expansion method and the finite-difference time-domain method. In particular, surface band structures are calculated for nonradiative and radiative surface modes, respectively, and intensity profiles of some representative modes for nonradiative and radiative cases are given.
A method for the direct determination of elemental content in each of aerosol particles by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission (ICP-AES) or mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) is described. This method is based upon the introduction of diluted aerosol into an ICP and the measurement of either the flash emission intensities of an atomic spectral line or ion intensities. A pulse-height analyzer is used for the measurement of the distribution of the elemental content. In order to calibrate the measuring system, monodisperse aerosols are used. The potentials of the method are shown by demonstrating the copper emission signals from the aerosols generated at a small electric switch, a study of the relation between the decreasing rate of particle number density and particle size, and measurements of calcium contents in the individual biological cells.
In recent, there have been several developments in lamp technology that promise savings in electrical power consumption and improved quality of the lighting space. The electrodeless fluorescent lamp is intended as a high efficacy replacement for the incandescent reflector lamp in many applications. In this paper, electron temperature and electron density were measured in a radio-frequency inductively coupled plasma using a Langmuir probe method for emission characteristics. Measurement was conducted in an Ne discharge for pressure from 10 [mTorr] and input RF power 100 [W] to 150 [W]. As for the electron density, a electron temperature was more distinguished for a emission characteristic. The results of ideal may contribute to systematic understanding of a electrodeless fluorescent lamps of emission characteristics.

This study was undertaken to obtain the fundamental knowledges on the weld deflects and it's realtime monitoring method. The paper describes the results of high speed photography, acoustic emission (AE) detection and plasma light emission (LE) measurements during $CO_2$ laser welding of STS 304 stainless steel and A5083 aluminum alloy in different welding condition. The characteristic frequencies of plasma and keyhole fluctuations at different welding speed and shield gases were measured and compared with the results of Fourier analyses of temporal AE and LE spectra, and they had considerably good agreement with keyhole and plasma fluctuation. Namely, the low frequency peaks of AE and LE shifted to higher frequency range with the welding speed increase, and leer the argon shield gas it was higher than that in helium and nitrogen gases. The low frequencies dominating in fluctuation spectra of LE probably reflect keyhole opening instability. It is possible to monitor the weld bead deflects by analyzing the acoustic and/or plasma light emission signals.
Semi volatile organic compounds (SVOCs) are used as plasticizers in building materials, interior materials, furniture, consumer electronics. etc. In the home, these SVOCs mix together with house dust. There is thus concern over the health effects of SVOCS in the home, there is a risk that they ini1uence childhood asthma and allergies. It is difficult to measure SVOCs emission rates from building materials or household appliances utilizing the usual test chamber methods, because the boiling points of SVOCs are higher and they are apt to adhere to the surface of the test chamber used. In this study, we introduce FLEC chamber method, passive sampler method and micro chamber method, which are used in Germany and Japan in order to measure SVOCs emission rates. Characteristic, merits and demerits of test methods are also considered.
