  • The effects of paste materials on field emission properties in a carbon nanotube(CNT) cathode were investigated for high-efficient field emission displays. The major components in CNT paste for screen printing were a metallic Ag-paste, a dielectric glass-frit and CNT ink. The emission current from the cathode by an electron tunneling effect increased with an increase in the dielectric material fraction in the CNT paste, which is related to an increase of field enhancement factor in Fowler-Nordheim equation. The surface treatment used, after soft baking of the screen-printed CNT films, greatly affected the decrease in the turn-on field in CNT cathode and the uniformity of emission sites over the entire CNT film area.

  • The floor material is known as the most influential emission source of the residential building, because most floor material is made of wood compound and adhesive like a plywood flooring. Moreover, floor heating system keeps the inside temperature of the material high. As the emission of hazardous chemical compound from the construction material is influenced by many factors, it is necessary to analyze the emission characteristics of the floor material to improve IAQ. In this study, numerical analysis is performed to investigate the emission characteristics of the floor material affected by several factors such as temperature, air exchange rate, initial concentration, and internal diffusion coefficient. A simulation program is also written based on the mass transfer theory. The simulation results show that there is some level of difference on the TVOC concentration when each of the factors is variable.

  • The uniformity of emission mage and field emission properties of carbon nanotube(CNT) cathodes dependence on CNT particle dispersion were investigated for field emission displays. We used multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) synthesized by CVD method as the field emitter materials. CNT dispersion in CNT ink was carried out by ultrasonication and shaking methods. According to CNT dispersion conditions, the uniformity of emission image and field emission properties of CNT cathodes were greatly affected. The smaller particles of filler materials and CNT powders provide the better properties of the CNT cathodes.

  • We investigated emission characteristics of tandem organic light emitting devices (OLEDs) with p-type materials as charge generation layer. The tandem OLEDs were fabricated by using $MoO_x$, $WO_x$, C60 and HATCN as p-type material or not using p-type material for charge generation. When HATCN was used as p-type material, it showed high current density at low applied voltage, but increase of efficiency was small because of charge unbalance in emitting layer. In case of tandem OLED not using p-type material, applied voltage increased remarkably because of difficulty of hole injection. In case of $MoO_x$, $WO_x$ or C60 as p-type material, current emission efficiency increased greatly. In particular, current emission efficiency of tandem OLED using $MoO_x$ as p-type material increased up to 3 times than current emission efficiency of single OLED. The Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage (CIE) 1931 color coordinates were changed by overlapping of 504 nm emission wavelength. As a result, emission efficiency of tandem OLED improved compared with single OLED, but driving voltage also increased by increase of organic layer thickness.

  • Study of the ion-induced-, photo- and exo-electron emission from a Sc doped MgO protective layer has been performed. It is established that doping with Sc increases photo- and especially exo-electron emission from MgO films while the ion-induced electron emission coefficient $\gamma$ stays unchanged.

  • Recently, plasma display panels (PDPs) are highlighted for the flat type display device. Therefore, much attention has been paid to secondary electron emission coefficient of the electrode protective material of PDPs. As PDPs is developing, the concern about secondary electron emission coefficient ($\gamma$) which is related with PDPs electrode protection material is increasing continually. So the concern about the way to how to measure secondary electron emission coefficient is on the rise. At present, the way to how to measure secondary electron emission coefficient is developed by some research groups, which is giving some research part's advance help. In this research, we have studied how to measure secondary electron emission coefficient which is related with various thin films more conveniently than previous measurement method. We studied the method of measurement of secondary electron emission coefficient (${\gamma}$) of amorphous silicon films by using Paschen's curve.

  • Top-emission device has a merit of high aperture ratio and narrow emission spectrum compared to that of bottom-emission one. Emission spectra of top-emission organic light-emitting diodes depending on a layer thickness and view angle were analyzed using a theory of microcavity. Device structure was manufactured to be Al (100 nm)/TPD/$Alq_3$/LiF (0.5 nm)/Al (2 nm)/Ag (30 nm). N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'- di (m-tolyl)-benzidine (TPD) and tris (8-hydroxyquinoline) aluminium (Alq3) were used as a hole-transport layer and emission layer, respectively. And a thickness of TPD and Alq3 layer was varied in a range of 40 nm~70 nm and 60 nm~110 nm, respectively. Angle-dependent emission spectrum out of the device was measured with a device fixed on a rotating plate. Since the top-emission device has a property of microcavity, it was observed that the emission spectrum shift to a longer wavelength region as the organic layer thickness increases, and to a shorter wavelength region as the view angle increases. Layer thickness and view-angle dependent emission spectra of the device were analyzed in terms of microcavity theory. A reflectivity of semitransparent cathode and optical path length were deduced.

  • With the stabilization of Korea's industrialization, it has become interested in the efficient use of rare metals, climate change and industrial environment and safety etc. It is thus making efforts to implement economic policies that address such issues. Therefore it is necessary to understand the demand, supply and use of metal materials. Since 2010, the Korean government has developed the integrated material flow methodology and has been trying to examine the demand, supply and use of metal materials. In 2013, the Korean government surveyed the material flow of chromium. Material flow analysis and environment emission of chromium were investigated 8 steps; (1) raw material, (2) first process, (3) Intermediate product, (4) End product, (5) Use/accumulation, (6) Collection, (7) Recycling, (8) Disposal. Chromium was used for stainless steel, alloy steel, coated sheets, refractory material and coating materials. Recycling was done mainly in use of stainless steel scrap. To ensure efficient use of chromium, process improvement is required to reduce the scrap in the intermediate product stage. In the process of producing of the products using chromium, it was confirmed that chromium was exposed to the environment. It requires more attention and protection against environment emission of chromium.

  • We have developed red phosphorescent top emission organic light-emitting diodes with transparent metal cathodes deposited by using thermal evaporation technique. Phosphorescent guest molecule, BtpIr(acac), was doped in host CBP for the red phosphorescent emission, Ca/Ag, Ba/Ag, and Mg/Ag double layers were used as cathode materials of top emission devices, which were composed of glass/Ni/2TNATA(15 nm)/${\alpha}$-NPD(35 nm)/CBP:BtpIr(acac)(40 nm, 10%)/BCP(5 nm)/$Alq_3$(5 nm)/cathodes. The optical transparencies of these metal cathodes strongly depend on underlying Ca, Ba, and Mg layers. These layers also strongly affect the electrical conduction and emission properties of the red phosphorescent top emission devices.

  • The effect of titanium (Ti) coating over the surface of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) on field emission characteristics was investigated. Since the work function of CNTs emitter is about 5.0 eV, field emission would be observed at lower voltage if this work function gets lower. Work function of Ti is approximately 4.09eV. Field emission characteristics of as-grown and Ti-coated CNTs were measured in a diode-type configuration. The resultant emission characteristics revealed that thin($50{\AA}$-thick) Ti-coated CNTs could be a better electron emitter with lower emission voltage and higher emission efficiency.
