반응 메커니즘 기반의 수소 첨가 바이오가스 HCCI 엔진 성능 및 배출가스에 대한 수치 해석적 연구 (Numerical analysis on performances and emission characteristics of HCCI engine fueled with hydrogen added biogas)

  • 본 연구에서는 바이오가스 기반 예혼합 압축착화(Homogeneous charged compression ignition, HCCI) 엔진에 수소를 첨가하였을 때, 연소실 내부 압력, 온도 배출가스에 미치는 영향에 대해 살펴보았다. 자세히는 수소 첨가량과 과다공기량(${\lambda}$) 변화에 따른 연소실 압력 온도, 그리고 생성물로서의 NO, $CO_2$ 배출 특성을 화학 반응 해석 프로그램을 사용하여 고찰하였다. 대상의 엔진은 2300cc 바이오가스 엔진 발전기로서 압축비 13:1, 발전량 15kW 급이다. 과급압은 1.2bar 고정 조건이며, rpm은 1800rpm의 정속 조건이다. 엔진 연소 방식은 예혼합 압축 착화를 모사하였다. 본 연구를 진행하기에 앞서 바이오가스의 주요 조성인 메탄의 연소 및 산화 메커니즘에 대한 선행 연구에 대한 고찰을 통하여 연소반응 메커니즘을 규명하기 위한 반응 메커니즘 연구 기술의 경향을 살펴보고, 본 연구에 적용 가능한 반응 메커니즘을 선정하여 해석을 진행하였다. 수소를 첨가할 때 NO는 증가하는 반면, $CO_2$등의 배출량은 감소하였고 실린더 내부 압력이 상승하며, 상승 구간이 진각 됨을 알 수 있었다. 또한, 희박영역에서 수소 첨가가 가연 한계를 증가시켰다.

  • 발전설비에서의 질소산화물 배출 규제치가 강화됨에 따라 1990년대에 설치된 HRSG도 탈질설비를 추가로 설치해야 하는 상황이 되었다. 그러나 HRSG 내부에 촉매와 암모니아 분사장치 모두를 설치할 수 있는 공간이 없기 때문에 그 대안으로써 HRSG 내부에는 촉매만 설치하고 암모니아 분사장치는 가스터빈 배기덕트로 변동하여 설치하는 것을 검토하였다. 본 연구에서는 인천복합발전소를 대상으로, 암모니아 분사장치를 HRSG 중압 과열기 후단과 가스터빈 배기덕트에 설치하여 암모니아를 분사였을 때 대기 배출기준 8.5 ppm을 만족하는 암모니아 소비량을 각각 측정하였다. 연구결과 가스터빈 배기덕트 암모니아 분사방식이 HRSG 중압 과열기 후단 분사방식에 비해 소비량이 1.2배 정도 증가한 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 HRSG 수명 30년 운영을 고려한다면 HRSG 내부에 암모니아 분사장치를 설치할 수 없는 경우 가스터빈 배기덕트에 암모니아 분사장치를 설치하는 것이 추천된다.

Analysis of surface characteristics of (Y, Nb)-TZP after finishing and polishing

  • PURPOSE. This in vitro study aimed to evaluate the surface characteristics of a full veneer crown fabricated chairside (CS) from a (Y, Nb)-TZP zirconia block in response to conventional zirconia grinding and polishing. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Zirconia crowns (n = 40) were first prepared and divided into two groups of materials: Labside (LS) and CS, after which each specimen went through a five-step grinding and polishing procedure. Following each surface treatment, surface characteristics were analyzed using confocal laser microscopy (CLSM), average surface roughness (Ra) values were processed from the profile data through Gaussian filtering, and X-ray diffraction pattern analysis was performed to evaluate the monoclinic (M) phase content. Then, a representative specimen was selected for field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), followed by a final analysis of the roughness and X-ray diffraction of the specimens using the independent t-test and repeated measures analysis of variance (RM-ANOVA). RESULTS. In every group, polishing significantly reduced the Ra values (P < .001). There was no significant difference in Ra between the polished state CS and LS. Furthermore, CLSM and FE-SEM investigations revealed that even though grain exposure was visible in CS specimens throughout the as-delivered and ground states, the exposure was reduced after polishing. Moreover, while no phase transformation was visible in the LS, phase transformation was visible in CS after every surface treatment, with the M phase content of the CS group showing a significant reduction after polishing (P < .001). CONCLUSION. Within the limits of this study, clinically acceptable level of surface finishing of (Y, Nb)-TZP can be achieved after conventional zirconia polishing sequence.

대구지역 유통 한약재의 유해금속 함량에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Hazardous Metal Content of Herbal Medicines in the Daegu Area)

  • Objectives: The hazardous metals content of medicinal herbs distributed in the Daegu area was investigated, and the place of origin and the content of herbicides and medicinal components were studied. Methods: An analysis of hazardous metals content (10 types) was carried out on 164 samples of 99 types of herbal medicines. Among the total samples, 45 were domestic and 119 were imported. Hg was analyzed by the amalgamation method. Other hazardous metals content (nine types) was digested using the microwave method and measured by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES). Results: The mean values of the hazardous metals content in the herbal medicines were Pb 1.0833 mg/kg, As 0.0136 mg/kg, Cd 0.0840 mg/kg, Cr 3.7120 mg/kg, Cu 4.2666 mg/kg, Mn 40.080 mg/kg, Ni 1.4330 mg/kg, Sb 0.1053 mg/kg, Al 202.64 mg/kg and Hg 0.0062 mg/kg. Three of the samples violated the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) regulatory guidance on cadmium (less than 0.3 mg/kg). The measured values of heavy metals (Pb, As, Cd, Hg) showed levels below the recommended levels for herbal medicines in MFDS regulatory guidance. In the comparison of domestic samples with imported herbal medicines, it was found that one domestic and two imported samples surpassed the maximum residue limits for cadmium. The median values of the hazardous metals detected in the three medicinal parts of the root, leaf (branch), and flower (seed and fruit) were as follows. Cr, Ni, Sb and Al were highly detected in roots, Pb, Cd, Mn, Hg in leafs (branch), and As, Cu in flowers (seed and fruit). Conclusion: There were various kinds of hazardous metals which were detected at high levels according to the place of origin of the medicinal herb and the parts the plant. For hazardous metals for which no acceptance criteria have been established, safety standards should be further studied and managed to ensure the safety of herbal medicines.

기계식(機械式) 회전(回轉)레이크를 이용(利用)한 생활계(生活界) 폐기물(廢棄物) 필름류(類) 선별장치(選別裝置) 개발(開發)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (Development of Separation System with Rotating Rakes for Recovery of Film-based Plastics)

  • 본 연구에서는 생활폐기물 전처리 시설 및 재활용 선별시설로 반입되는 필름류를 선별하기 위한 기계식 회전레이크를 개발하였으며, 성능평가 및 환경적합성 검토를 통하여 현장 적용 가능성 평가를 수행하였다. 실험결과 처리용량은 벨트컨베이어속도 38.5 m/min, 레이크 회전속도 26.0 rpm(1,2차 레이크 개수는 각각 39개, 52개, 3차 브러쉬 48개)에서 5.3 ton/hr로 설계용량인 5.0 ton/hr를 만족하였으며, 레이크 회전속도 28.0 rpm에서 필름류 회수율은 92.60%, 순도 96.50%로 매우 높게 나타났다. 본 장치에 대한 소음, 진동 및 비산먼지 농도 등에 대한 환경성 평가 결과, 환경오염법적배출허용 기준치를 모두 만족하는 것으로 조사되었다. 또한, 선별된 필름류를 대상으로 고형연료(RPF; Refuse Plastic Fuel) 제조를 통한 재활용 가능성을 평가한 결과, 발열량 약 9,740.3 kg/kcal, 염소함량 약 0.18%로 고형연료 품질기준 1등급을 만족하였다. 따라서 필름류 선별장치를 재활용 선별시설에 적용할 경우 작업량 증가 및 작업환경의 개선이 가능하고, 필름류 제거를 통한 자동화선별장치의 선별효율을 개선 할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. 또한, 선별된 필름류를 고형연료로 제조하면 화석연료의 대체 에너지원으로서 사용 가능할 것으로 사료된다.

모멘트 정보와 표면거리 기반 다중 모달리티 의료영상 정합 (Multi-modality MEdical Image Registration based on Moment Information and Surface Distance)

  • 다중 모달리티 영상정합은 서로 다른 성격의 두 영상의 중요정보를 결합하여 복합적 정보를 얻기 위해 널리 사용되는 영상처리 기법이다. 본 연구에서는 정합 대상 객체의 초기위치 및 방향에 종속적이지 않고, 낮은 정합오차 범위 내에서의 안정적인 정합을 지원하기 위하여 기존의 표면기반 정합 기법을 개선한 모멘트 정보 및 표면거리 기반의 정합 기법을 제시한다. 제안방법에서는 우선 정합대상객체의 표면 윤곽 점을 추출하고, 이를 기반으로 대상객체의 모멘트 정보를 추출하여, 표면거리 기반 상세 정합 이전에 모멘트 정보를 일치시키는 변환을 수행함으로써, 정합이전 대상객체의 위치 및 방향이 상이한 경우에 있어서도 정합이 안정적으로 수행되도록 한다. 또한 테스트 영상에 대한 표면 대표점 추출 시, 표면 코너추출법을 적용함으로써, 기존 표면 정보 기반 정합기법에서 일반적으로 사용하고 있는 무작위 샘플링 및 일정간격 샘플링에 의한 취약점을 보완한다. 본 논문에서 제안기법의 검증을 위하여 뇌 부위 자기공명단층영상(MRI)과 양자 방출 단층 촬영 영상(PET)을 적용하고, 정합오류율과 정합결과에 대한 2,3차원 가시화 영상의 육안평가를 통하여 정확성 및 안정성 측면을 검증한다.

북한산국립공원 내 초미세먼지 농도 및 화학적 특성 (Characterization of Aerosol Composition, Concentration, and Sources in Bukhansan National Park, Korea)

  • To improve understanding of the physico-chemical characteristics of aerosols in the national park and comparing the air pollution between national park and the urban area nearby national park, the aerosol characterization study was conducted in Bukhansan National Park, Seoul, from July through September 2017. Semi-continuous measurements of $PM_{2.5}$ using PILS (Particle Into Liquid System) coupled with IC (Ion Chromatography) and TOC (Total Organic Carbon) analyzer allowed quantification of concentrations of major ionic species($Cl^-$, $SO_4{^{2-}}$, $NO_3{^-}$, $Na^+$, $NH_4{^+}$, $K^+$, $Mg{^{2+}}$ and $Ca{^{2+}}$) and water soluble organic carbon (WSOC) with 30-minute time resolution. The total mass concentration of $PM_{2.5}$ was measured by T640 (Teledyne) with 5-minute time resolution. The black carbon (BC) and ozone were measured with a minute time resolution. The timeline of aerosol chemical compositions reveals a strong influence from urban area (Seoul) at the site in Bukhansan National Park. Inorganic aerosol composition was observed to be dominated by ammoniated sulfate at most times with ranging from $0.1{\sim}32.6{\mu}g/m^3$ (6.5~76.1% of total mass of $PM_{2.5}$). The concentration of ammonium nitrate, a potential indicator of the presence of local source, ranged from below detection limits to $20{\mu}g/m^3$ and was observed to be highest during times of maximum local urban (Seoul) impact. The total mass of $PM_{2.5}$ in Bukhansan National Park was observed to be 10~23% lower than the total mass of $PM_{2.5}$ in urban area (Gireum-dong and Bulgwang-dong, Seoul). In general, ozone concentration in Bukhansan National Park was observed to be similar or higher than urban sites in Seoul, suggesting additional biogenic VOCs with $NO_x$ from vehicle emission were to be precursors for ozone formation in Bukhansan National Park.

처리기술에 근거한 산업폐수 배출허용기준 국내 적용성 연구( I ) : 미국 TBELs 적용사례 검토 (Assessment of Technology-Based Industrial Wastewater Effluent Limitations and Standards for the Application in Domestic Industries ( I ) : Case-study, Applying TBELs in US)

  • Technology-Based Effluent Limitations (TBELs) is a permit limits for a pollutant that is based on the capability of a treatment technology to reduce the pollutant to a certain concentration. Widely practiced for regulations of industrial wastewater in US, TBELs has been accepted as an effective means that can achieve balanced goals between complete elimination of pollutants discharge and economic feasibility for industries. The review of TBELs application in US and the applicability of TBELs to the domestic industry categories was given in three papers. In the first paper, the development and practices of TBELs in US were reviewed including case studies. The developments of TBELs in US in the four major categories, the metal products & machinery, the petroleum refining, the porcelain enameling and the meat & poultry products were reviewed. The applicability of TBELs to the domestic industrial categories was also assessed. In the second paper, the pollution loads analysis for domestic industrial wastewater was conducted based on risk assessment indicator using Toxic Weighting Factors (TWFs). This is an essential part to determine the priority of TBELs application for the domestic industrial categories. In the last paper, the application of TBELs to the domestic industries was demonstrated through a case-study for the pulp/paper/paperboard category. Direct application of TBELs of US into the Korean regulation system may not be desirable because the specific goals and the environment for the regulations for the two countries may not be identical. For example, unlike US, Korea does not adopt the individual permit system for pollution sources. However, among the unproductive and exhaustive controversies over the uniform regulations regardless of the industrial categories in Korea, the introduction of the principles of TBELs are inevitable and more extensive study for applications of TBELs optimized for Korean regulation system will be necessary.

STP Development in the Context of Smart City

  • Cities will soon host two third of the population worldwide, and already today 80% of the world energy is used in the 20 largest cities. Urban areas create 80% of the greenhouse gas emission, so we should take care that urban areas are smart and sustainable as implementations have especially here the greatest impact. Smart Cities (SC) or Smart Sustainable Cities (SSC) are the actual concepts that describe methodologies how cities can handle the high density of citizens, efficiency of energy use, better quality of life indicators, high attractiveness for foreign investments, high attractiveness for people from abroad and many other critical improvements in a shifting environment. But if we talk about Entrepreneurship Ecosystem and Innovation, we do not see a lot of literature covering this topic within those SC/SSC concepts. It seems that 'Smart' implies that all is embedded, or isn't it properly covered as brick stone of SC/SSC concepts, as they are handled in another 'responsibility silo', meaning that the policy implementation of a Science and Technology Park (STP) is handled in another governing body than SC/SSC developments. If this is true, we will obviously miss a lot of synergy effects and economies of scale effects. Effects that we could have in case we stop the siloed approaches of STPs by following a more holistic concept of a Smart Sustainable City, covering also a continuous flow of innovation into the city, without necessarily always depend on large corporate SSC solutions. We try to argue that every SSC should integrate SP/STP concepts or better their features and services into their methodology. The very limited interconnectivity between these concepts within the governance models limits opportunities and performance in both systems. Redesigning the architecture of the governance models and accepting that we have to design a system-of-systems would support the possible technology flow for smart city technologies, it could support testbed functionalities and the public-private partnership approach with embedded business models. The challenge is of course in complex governance and integration, as we often face siloed approaches. But real SSC are smart as they are connecting all those unconnected siloes of stakeholders and technologies that are not yet interoperable. We should not necessarily follow anymore old greenfield approaches neither in SSCs nor in SP and STP concepts from the '80s that don't fit anymore, being replaced by holistic sustainability concepts that we have to implement in any new or revised SSC concepts. There are new demands for each SP/STP being in or close to an SC/SCC as they have a continuous demand for feeding the technology base and the application layer and should also act as testbeds. In our understanding, a big part of STP inputs and outputs are still needed, but in a revised and extended format. We know that most of the SC/STP studies claim the impact is still far from understood and often debated, therefore we must transform the concepts where SC/STPs are not own 'cities', but where they act as technology source and testbed for industry and new SSC business models, being part of the SC/STP concept and governance from the beginning.

Nylon Membrane Filter에서의 발광증폭을 이용한 $Eu^{+3}$$Tb^{+3}$ 이온의 극미량 분석법 (A New Analytical Method for the $Eu^{+3}$ and $Tb^{+3}$ Ions Using the Luminescence Enhancement by the Treatment of o-Phenanthroline on the Nylon Membrane)

  • 란탄이온의 특성 발광선 세기가 Nylon Membrane상에서 증폭되는 현상을 이용하여 $Eu^{+3}$$Tb^{+3}$이온에 대한 고감도의 미량분석법에 대하여 연구아였다. 수용액(혹은 에탄올 용액) 상태에서의 $Eu^{+3}$$Tb^{+3}$두이온의 발광선의 세기에 비하여 주어진 용액 시료를 Nylon Membrane에 점적하면 이온의 방출선의 세기가 매우증가하였으며 특히 점적된 이온에 o-phenanthroline을 추가로 점적하면 방출선의 세기가 더욱 증가하는 증폭현상을 이용하여 $Eu6{+3}$$Tb^{+3}$이온의 검출한계를 용액 시료에 비하여 $10_7$배 이상 개선하였으며 이때의 검정곡선은 검출한계 근처에서 2-3 order의 선형범위(dynamic range)와 상관계수가 0.99 이상인 직선성을 나타냈으며 또한 TLC 방법에 비하여 10배정도의 검출한계 개선효과를 얻었다. 한편 o-phenanthroline의 변화에 따른 선세기의 변화를 관찰한 결과 -4몰비 정도에 최대의 선세기를 보였으며 그 이상에서는 일정한 선세기를 나타내었는데 이런한 발광증폭의 이론적인 배경으로 착물내의 리간드와 란탄이온 사이의 energytransfer mechanism을 설명하였다.
