Wavelet-based Video Coding Scheme using Multi-resolution Motion Compensation (다중 해상도 움직임 보상을 이용하는 웨이브렛기반 동영상 부호화)

  • In this paper. we propose a new video coding scheme with multi-resolution motion compensation and residual quantization. The main functional blocks of the proposed scheme include multi-level wavelet decomposition. motion estimation and motion compensation. raster scanning within each subband. formation of block trees and blocking partitioning. and adaptive arithmetic coding. Although the proposed ceding scheme is simple and requires low computational complexity, it produces bitstreams tilth good features. such as the embedded structure and SNR scalability. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed coding scheme is quote competitive to and often outperforms other wavelet-based video coding schemes in the literature.

Design of a Home ATM Network Protocol : Comparisons based on topologies (댁내 ATM 망 프로토콜 설계: 토폴로지에 따른 비교)

  • The advance of the MPEG (Moving Picture Expert Group) and the DSP (Digital Signal Processing) technologies lead the emergence of the information appliances, which are gradually digitalized and embedded the high-speed networking function. However, there are some difficulties in establishing any one specific model, since standardization of the scale and function of home ATM network is being progressed by standardization organizations and no absolute model has been defined. This paper consider topologies for a home ATM network, such a star-type, tree-type, and mesh-type topology, by comparing the structure, functional characteristics and performance. From this analysis we suggest the design method of the home ATM network.

  • In this paper, we propose a multiresolution progressive image transmission with spatial and bit-rate scalabilities using a $2{\times}2$ DCT. The multiresolition image represented by a $2{\times}2$ DCT is used for the progressive image transmission with spatial and bit-rate scalabilities. Because the proposed progressive image transmission method supports both spatial and bit-rate scalabilities, it can be adaptively applied to the receiver's scalability requests. We compare the proposed progressive transmission with that of the higher-order convolution-based Wavelet method. Comparisons show that the proposed method needs much less computations, but insignificant loss of image quality.

  • 본 연구팀은 유비쿼터스 게임 플랫폼을 위한 Embedded C++ 컴파일러를 개발하였으며, 컴파일러 개발 과정에서 객체지향언어인 C++과 Java 언어를 모두 수용할 수 있는 심벌 테이블을 설계하였다. 심벌 테이블은 컴파일러의 어휘 분석과 구문 분석 과정을 거친 후 SDT(syntax-directed translation)에 의해 생성된 AST(Abstract Syntax Tree)를 분석하여 인식된 명칭(identifier)과 그 속성(attribute)들을 수집하여 저장하는 자료구조로써, 심벌 테이블에 저장된 속성들은 의미 분석(semantic analysis) 단계에서 수집된 속성과 참조된 명칭의 사용이 타당한지를 검사하고, 코드 생성(code generation) 단계에서 올바른 코드가 생성되도록 하는 중요한 요소이다. 따라서 심벌 테이블의 설계가 올바른지와 입력된 속성이 정확한지에 대한 검증과 분석은 필수 불가결하다. 본 논문에서는 컴파일러 개발과정에서 설계한 심벌 테이블을 검증하고 분석하기 위한 목적으로써 심벌 테이블을 이용하여 선언문을 복원시키는 역번역기(detranslator)에 대하여 기술한다. 구현된 역번역기는 C++ 컴파일러와 Java 컴파일러의 선언문 처리 과정에서 심벌 테이블에 입력된 속성들을 본래의 입력 프로그램으로 역번역한다. 따라서 역번역기를 통하여 심벌 테이블의 완전성과 심벌 테이블에 입력된 속성 정보의 정확성을 쉽게 검증할 수 있으며, 역번역과 함께 출력되는 디버그 정보를 이용하여 효율적으로 컴파일러의 개발과 수정을 할 수 있다.

Performance Enhancement Architecture for HLR System Based on Distributed Mobile Embedded System (분산 모바일 임베디드 시스템 기반의 새로운 위치정보 관리 시스템)

  • In mobile cellular network the ever-changing location of a mobile host necessitates the continuous tracking of its current position and efficient management of location information. A database called Home Location Register(HLR) plays a major role in location management in this distributed environment, providing table management, index management, and backup management facilities. The objectives of this paper are to identify the p개blems of the current HLR system through rigorous analysis, to suggest solutions to them, and to propose a new architecture for the HLR system. In the HLR system, a main memory database system is used to provide real-time accesses and updates of subscriber's information. Thus it is suggested that the improvement bemade to support better real-time facilities, to manage subscriber's information more reliably, and to accommodate more subscribers. In this paper, I propose an efficient backup method that takes into account the characteristics of HLR database transactions. The retrieval speed and the memory usage of the two-level index method are better than those of the T-tree index method. Insertion md deletion overhead of the chained bucket hashing method is less than that of modified linear hashing method. In the proposed backup method, I use two kinds of dirty flags in order to solve the performance degradation problem caused by frequent registration-location operations. Performance analysis has been performed to evaluate the proposed techniques based on a system with subscribers. The results show that, in comparison with the current techniques, the memory requirement is reduced by more than 62%,directory operations, and backup operation by more than 80%.

Stock Price Direction Prediction Using Convolutional Neural Network: Emphasis on Correlation Feature Selection (합성곱 신경망을 이용한 주가방향 예측: 상관관계 속성선택 방법을 중심으로)

  • Recently, deep learning has shown high performance in various applications such as pattern analysis and image classification. Especially known as a difficult task in the field of machine learning research, stock market forecasting is an area where the effectiveness of deep learning techniques is being verified by many researchers. This study proposed a deep learning Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model to predict the direction of stock prices. We then used the feature selection method to improve the performance of the model. We compared the performance of machine learning classifiers against CNN. The classifiers used in this study are as follows: Logistic Regression, Decision Tree, Neural Network, Support Vector Machine, Adaboost, Bagging, and Random Forest. The results of this study confirmed that the CNN showed higher performancecompared with other classifiers in the case of feature selection. The results show that the CNN model effectively predicted the stock price direction by analyzing the embedded values of the financial data

An Efficient Multicast Architecture for IP-Based Mobile Core Networks (IP기반 모바일 코어 네트워크에서의 효율적인 멀티캐스트 아키텍처)

  • When the legacy multicast routing protocols are adopted in If-based mobile core networks, there are some problems such as traffic injection from unnecessary sources, traffic overhead by group management and router performance degradation by large amount of multicast session information. In this paper, we propose a stateless multicast mechanism which has no need to maintain multicast information for session status and reduces redundant network overhead for maintaining multicast tree. In addition interworking with IGMPv3 gets rid of traffic from unnecessary sources which have no registration from receivers. The operations of essential components including a gateway node for interworking with the legacy Internet multicast network, a gateway node for transparency to radio access network and a intermediate node in mobile core networks, are definitely defined and the proposed communication architecture is completed. Finally we evaluate and approve the performance of the proposed architecture by means of well-designed network simulation.

Design of a CHANCE Protocol for the ATM-Based Home Networking (ATM 기반 댁내 통신을 위한 CHANCE 프로토콜의 설계)

  • The advance of the MPEG(Moving Picture Expert Group) and DSP(Digital Signal Processing) technologies lead the energence of the information appliances which are gradually digitalized and embedded the high-speed networking function. This paper proposes a CHANCE(Cost-effective Home ATM Network for the Consumer Electronics) protocol supporting the ATM-based high-speed networking between the information appliances within the home, and designs its specific functions including the network management and signalling function. The CHANCE protocol is basically based on the tree topology, and supports the plug-and-play function by using only the header field of the ATM cells. Unlike the existing ATM Warren protocol which uses the source routed addressing scheme to control the in-home devices from the Warren controller, the CHANCE protocol can support the inter-device controls as well as the controls from the CHANCE controller by using the switch and device identifier.

Digital Watermarking Technique in Wavelet Domain for Protecting Copyright of Contents (컨텐츠의 저작권 보호를 위한 DWT영역에서의 디지털 워터마킹 기법)

  • In this paper we proposed the watermarking technique using the markspace which is selected by tree-structure between the subbands in the wavelet domain and feature information in the spatial domain. The watermarking candidate region in the wavelet domain is obtained by the markspace selection algorithm divides the highest frequency subband to several segments and calculates theirs energy and the averages value of the total energy of the subband. Also the markspace of the spatial domain is obtained by the boundary information of a image. The final markspace is selected by the markspaces of the wavelet and spatial domain. The watermark is embedded into the selected markspace using the random addresses by LFSR. Finally the watermarking image is generated using the inverse wavelet transform. The proposed watermarking algorithm shows the robustness against the attacks such as JPEG, blurring, sharpening, and gaussian noise.

An implementation of hypercube with routing algorithm in bisectional interconnection network (Bisectional 상호연결 네트워크에서 하이퍼큐브의 구현과 경로배정 알고리즘)

  • On demand of many users, basic networks of a parallel computer system are required to have a property that can embed various topologies. Bisectional interconnection network is known to satisfy this property, and it can embed various topologies optimally. Nowadays one is very interested in the hypercube as a message pssing multicomputer system, so it is very important to implement a hypercube in bisectional network. In this paper, a hypercube is implemented in a versatile bisecional netork, and its routing and broadcasting algorithm are proposed. Conventional bisectional network can accomodata linear array, complete binary tree and mesh structure as its topology. Now hypercube is implemented to be utilized as a general purpose supercomputercommunication architecture. The proposed routing and broadcasting algorithm embedded in bisectional network are general purpose algorithms which satisfy property of conventional hypercube.
