Electron Microscopical Description on the Egg Stalk-like Structure of the Rockfish, Sebastes inermis (Teleostei: Scorpaenidae) (볼락 (Sebastes inermis) 난병 유사구조의 전자현미경적 기재)

  • The ovary of the rockfish, Sebastes inermis was cystovarian condition and consists of numerous ovarian lobules. Previtellogenic oocytes were embedded in the connective tissue of the ovarian lobules. As the oocytes grows, it protruded into the ovarian cavity and form grapes cluster-like structure with egg stalk-like structure. Yolk granules and zona radiata were not observed in the embedded early oocytes about 20 $\mu$m in diameter. In the oocytes about 80 $\mu$m in diameter, yolk granules with electron dense were abundant in the ooplasm near the egg stalk-like structure. However, pinocytosis was not obsened in the pore canal system of the zona radiata. In this stage, microfilaments, developed endoplasmic reticula, tubular mitochondria, granular materials with low electron density and active multivesicular bodies were observed in the egg stalk-like structure. This results suggest that the egg stalk-like structure of the rockfish are related with the oocyte attachment and exogenous vitellogenesis of the intial vitellogenic oocyte.

Enhanced Infrared detection of photodetector using Ag nanowire-embedded ITO Layers

  • The Ag Nanowire is one of the materials that are widely studied as alternatives to ITO and is available for large area, low cost process and the flexible transparent electrode. However, Ag nanowire can have the problem of a lack of stability at high temperatures, making this impossible to form a film. Using a structure of ITO/AgNW/ITO in photodetector device, we improved the properties of the ITO in the IR region and improved the thermal stability of the AgNW. The structure of ITO/AgNW/ITO has a high transmittance value of 89% at a wavelength of 900 nm and provide a good electrical property. The AgNWs embedded ITO film has a high transmittance, this is because of the light scattering from the AgNW. The thermal stability of the developed ITO/AgNWs/ITO films were investigated and found AgNWs embedded ITO films posses considerable high stability compared to the solo AgNWs on the Si surface. The ITO/AgNWs/ITO device showed a improved photo-response ratio compared to those of the conventional TC device in IR region. This is attributed to the high transmittance and low sheet resistance. We suggest an effective design scheme for IR-sensitive photodetection by using an AgNW embedded ITO.

  • Uptime of embedded processors for mobile devices are dependent on battery consumption. Especially the large portion of power consumption is known to be due to cache management in embedded processors. This paper proposes an energy efficient data cache structure for high performance embedded processors. High performance prefetching data cache issues prefetching instructions before issuing demand-fetch instructions based on reference predictions. These prefetching instruction bring reduction on memory delay by improving cache hit ratio, but on the other hand those increase energy consumption in proportion to the number of prefetching instructions. In this paper, we adopt tag history table on prefetching data cache for reducing energy consumption by minimizing parallel tag comparison. Experimental results show the proposed data cache improves performance on energy consumption as well as memory delay.

Lightweight Convolution Module based Detection Model for Small Embedded Devices (소형 임베디드 장치를 위한 경량 컨볼루션 모듈 기반의 검출 모델)

  • In the case of object detection using deep learning, both accuracy and real-time are required. However, it is difficult to use a deep learning model that processes a large amount of data in a limited resource environment. To solve this problem, this paper proposes an object detection model for small embedded devices. Unlike the general detection model, the model size was minimized by using a structure in which the pre-trained feature extractor was removed. The structure of the model was designed by repeatedly stacking lightweight convolution blocks. In addition, the number of region proposals is greatly reduced to reduce detection overhead. The proposed model was trained and evaluated using the public dataset PASCAL VOC. For quantitative evaluation of the model, detection performance was measured with average precision used in the detection field. And the detection speed was measured in a Raspberry Pi similar to an actual embedded device. Through the experiment, we achieved improved accuracy and faster reasoning speed compared to the existing detection method.

Simultaneous Information and Power Transfer Using Magnetic Resonance

  • To deal with the major challenges of embedded sensor networks, we consider the use of magnetic fields as a means of reliably transferring both information and power to embedded sensors. We focus on a power allocation strategy for an orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing system to maximize the transferred power under the required information capacity and total available power constraints. First, we consider the case of a co-receiver, where information and power can be extracted from the same signal. In this case, we find an optimal power allocation (OPA) and provide the upper bound of achievable transferred power and capacity pairs. However, the exact calculation of the OPA is computationally complex. Thus, we propose a low-complexity power reallocation algorithm. For practical consideration, we consider the case of a separated receiver (where information and power are transferred separately through different resources) and propose two heuristic power allocation algorithms. Through simulations using the Agilent Advanced Design System and Ansoft High Frequency Structure Simulator, we validate the magnetic-inductive channel characteristic. In addition, we show the performances of the proposed algorithms by providing achievable ${\eta}$-C regions.

Measurement of Residual and Internal Strain of 3-D Braided Hybrid Composite using Embedded FBG Sensor (FBG 센서를 삽입한 3차원 브레이드 하이브리드 복합재료의 잔류변형률 및 내부변형률 측정)

  • Three dimensional circular braided Glass/Aramid hybrid fabric/epoxy resin composite was fabricated. FBG sensor was embedded along the braid yam in order to monitor the internal dimensional changes of the 3-D braid composite. The amount of cure and thermal shrinkage of epoxy resin was also determined using FBG sensor system. FBG sensors with different grating length were embedded and their response were compared. The thermo-optic coefficient of FBG sensor was measured by several preliminary experiments. The internal strain that measured by FBG sensor and electric strain gauge was compared during compressive test. The released residual strain of the fabricated tubular composite was estimated using cutting method. The internal strain of the composite was estimated using FBG sensor system, and the result was compared with the value from electric strain gauge. It was found that FBG sensor system is a very useful technique to investigate inside region of complicated structure.

Embedded System Internet Remote Controller (임베디드 시스템 인터넷 원격제어 장치)

  • In this paper, new structures of embedded internet remote control systems, which can control electo-mechanical systems, are developed. For this, remote interface system structure using embedded system are developed first, then the way of internet remote control and the PC program for the control are discussed. The developed syste in this paper can be applied to home automations such as to control entrance doors, lights, consumer electronics and other industrial applications. To show the example illustrations, in this paper, the deyeloped system has been applied to multiple motor control systems. The results show that the developed system can directly be applicable into the real industrial field.

  • This paper presents the structure and function of the system which automatically generates embedded processor cores using the SMDL. Accepting processor description in the SDML, the proposed system generates the processor core, consisting of the pipelined datapath and memory modules together with their control unit. The generated cores support muti-cycle instructions for proper handling of memory accesses, and resolve pipeline hazards encountered in the pipelined processors. Experimental results show the functional accuracy of the generated cores.

  • The Interaction Picture (IP) method is a valuable alternative to Split-step methods for solving certain types of partial differential equations such as the nonlinear Schr$\ddot{o}$dinger equation or the Gross-Pitaevskii equation. Although very similar to the Symmetric Split-step (SS) method in its inner computational structure, the IP method results from a change of unknown and therefore do not involve approximation such as the one resulting from the use of a splitting formula. In its standard form the IP method such as the SS method is used in conjunction with the classical 4th order Runge-Kutta (RK) scheme. However it appears to be relevant to look for RK scheme of higher order so as to improve the accuracy of the IP method. In this paper we investigate 5th order Embedded Runge-Kutta schemes suited to be used in conjunction with the IP method and designed to deliver a local error estimation for adaptive step size control.

  • The multi-core technology has become pervasive in embedded systems. An implementation of the Doppler Beam Sharpening algorithm that improves the azimuth resolution by using doppler frequency shift is possible only in multi-core environment because of the amount of calculation. In this paper, we design of multi-core architecture for a real time implementation of DBS algorithm. And based on designed structure, we produce a DBS image on P4080 board.
