Implementation of Wireless Contents Access PMP using ARM 9 Embedded System (ARM 9 임베디드 시스템에 의한 무선 컨텐츠 액세스 PMP 구현)

  • In this paper, diskless personal multimedia player(PMP) that can access and decode the remote large multimedia data is implemented via wireless network. To implement this, WLAN based NFS protocol is used to connect PMP to the remote server and text image and movie files are decoded and played using ARM9 cored PXA255 embedded processor and Linux OS. The fuction and performance of the PMP is evaluated and verified using variuos types of contents. Linux kernel elements are configured and built in according to the hardware and software on the target board to install on the target board. The confirming result shows the required functions and performances.

  • SQLite, Realm, etc. are database engines which are suitable for small devices that have large resource restriction and are used a lot in mobile devices based on Linux. These engines are open source programs and have advantages which are lighter weight and faster speed than general purpose databases. This paper implements performance test program and performs performance experiment of SQLite database to test search efficiency in Linux environments. The experiment is processed by comparison with the results of a Oracle database working out at the same environment.

  • The embedded systems on linux environment, commonly equip a file system as mini hard disk or flash memory to keep data. The types of the file system of the system are various according to it's operating system. Anyway, the more embedded system depends on the file system, the selection of the type of the file system effects more on the performance of the system. This thesis performs the performance benchmark of a FAT and Ext file systems. As the result, it is discussed that what file system is better at which case. These results are helpful at the selection of flash file system of the embedded systems on linux environment.

  • Since most of the conventional web servers have been designed to Provide the general purpose and user's convenience as the primary goal, there is an overhead to apply them to the embedded system for remote monitoring and controlling the operation status of the Internet appliance. To cope with this overhead, an embedded Linux web server Is suggested in this paper The basic concept is to provide miniaturization and extendability by simplifying the requirements of web server as the services to the requests of web document for the user's menu and the execution of CGI Program for monitoring and controling the Internet appliance, and satisfying only the indispensable requirements of HTTP which are necessary for the interface with the conventional web browsers. For the evaluation of its feasibility, each module has been implemented on Linux environment, and tested with the MS Explorer 6.0.

  • This paper proposes bridge diagnosis system using Embedded LINUX and Genetic algorithm. The proposed system consists of MPC860 processor, FPCA, Bridge sensors and Genetic algorithm for bridge diagnosis. And the proposed system can operate with World Wide Web in GUI environment by lava, therefore, system is useful in diagnosing bridge at all times. Using genetic algorithm, this system can measure various bridge sensors with best gain and offset, therefore, range of measurement can be enlarged. Proposed system is certified by system-based test. .

  • 본 논문은 IPS 구축에 있어서 핵심적인 역할을 수행하는 운영체제를 위해 최근 각광을 받고 있는 Embedded Linux Kernel 의 성능을 테스트하기 위한 환경을 구축한다. Benchmarking tool 인 UnixBench 프로그램을 사용하여 성능을 테스트 한다. 또한 standard kernel 의 성능 테스트도 같이 포함하여 종합적으로 성능 결과를 비교 분석한다. 이런 실험 결과를 통해서 IPS 시스템에 적합한 임베디드 리눅스 운영체제 결정을 하고자 한다.

  • Over the past several years, deep learning has been widely used for feature extraction in image and video for various applications such as object classification and facial recognition. This paper introduces an implantation of embedded Linux system for embossed digits recognition using CNN based deep learning methods. For this purpose, we implemented a coin recognition system based on deep learning with the Keras open source library on Raspberry PI. The performance evaluation has been made with the success rate of coin classification using the images captured with ultra-wide angle camera on Raspberry PI. The simulation result shows 98% of the success rate on average.

  • AVLS is nowadays pretty considered on one of important parts in telematics service with a computerization of vehicle. However, with an implementation of commercial OS, individual OS and firmware on AVLS terminals, the cost and developing period are significantly increased. In this paper, we present the effective log-file creation methode about automobile status and location information within a restricted memory through designing AVLS terminals based on embedded linux. The proposed method shows 0.8% better performance on bzip2 compressor comparing to gzip compressor in the compressibility. In addition, bzip2 is faster than gzip about 2.14 times in the speed of compression.

  • In this paper, we implement the ad ballon control system in which a built camera monitors using bluetooth wireless communication with ISM(Industrial. Scientific and Medical) band. In the proposed system. the driving time of ad ballon is increased by adopting the mercury battery and light weight. An ad ballon with camera is easily controlled by Graphic User Interface using Linux based embedded system.

  • We propose a protocol for Ethernet-based industrial real-time communication networks. In the protocol, the master periodically transmits control frames to all slaves, and the ring-type network topology is selected to achieve high-speed transmission speed. The proposed protocol is implemented in the form of both firmware and Linux kernel modules. To improve the transmission speed, the MAC address table is disabled in the firmware implementation, and the NAPI function of the Ethernet driver is removed in the Linux kernel module implementation. A network experiment environment is built with four ARM processor-based embedded systems and network operation experiments are performed for various frame sizes. From the experimental results, it is verified that the proposed protocol normally operates, and the firmware implementation shows better transmission speed than the Linux kernel module implementation.
