초등학교와 중.고등학교 건강증진학교 수행 현황과 관련 요인: WHO 건강증진학교 지표를 중심으로 (Implementation Status and Related Factors of Health Promoting Schools among Elementary, Middle and High Schools: Based on the WHO Guidelines)

  • Objectives: The objectives of this study were to assess the implementation status of Health Promoting Schools (HPS) among elementary, middle and high schools and to identify characteristics of the schools that affect the implementation of HPS. Methods: A total of 703 teachers (male 32.2%, females 67.8%) from 70 elementary, middle and high schools in Seoul and Gyeonggi participated in the survey. A 60-item self-evaluation questionnaire was used to assess implementation status of HPS. Results: Implementation of HPS in elementary schools were more favorable than middle and high schools after controling for participants' characteristics, such as age, gender, and their duties at school (<0.001). Being a private school was associated with higher score on implementation of HPS in both elementary (${\beta}$=0.170) and middle/high schools (${\beta}$=0.275). However, being located in rural areas (${\beta}$=-0.409) and having larger number of students (${\beta}$=-0.521) were associated with lower score on implementation of HPS in middle/high schools. Conclusions: Middle and high schools, especially large public and/or rural schools, were less favorable in implementing HPS. Therefore, supporting those schools are necessary and developing evaluation and monitoring system for HPS implementation will contribute to promote students' health.

초등학생용 공간 시각화 검사지 개발 및 표준화 (Development and Validation of Spatial Visualization Tests for Elementary School Children)

  • 본 연구는 초등학생용 공간시각화 검사지를 개발하고 표준화하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 총 24문항으로 구성된 초등학생용 공간시각화 검사지를 개발하였으며, 초등학생 1482명을 대상으로 검사를 실시하여 신뢰도와 타당도를 분석하였다. 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초등학생용 공간시각화 검사지의 문항내적일관성 신뢰도는 Cronbach's ${\alpha}$=.794로 양호한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 검사지의 24문항에 대한 타당도를 검증하기 위하여 확인적 요인분석을 한 결과, 검사지의 타당도가 양호한 것으로 판단되었다. 셋째, 검사지 24문항에 대한 문항난이도는 .200에서부터 .886으로 나타났으며, 평균 문항난이도는 .544인 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 연구 결과로 볼 때, 본 연구에서 개발한 초등학생용 공간시각화 검사지는 신뢰도와 타당도를 확보한 것으로 보이므로, 초등학생들의 공간시각화 능력을 측정하는데 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

  • 우리는 가끔 물건을 보관한 위치를 잊고 나서 찾는데 많은 시간을 보내는 경우가 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 물건을 보관하고 위치를 알려주며 쉽게 찾을 수 있게 하는 물건관리 시스템을 설계하고 개발한다. 물건을 정리하는 방식은 사람이 로봇 위에 물건을 올려놓고 스마트폰에 설치된 로봇제어 애플리케이션을 통해 물건의 이름을 선택하면 비어있는 보관 장소를 확인한 후 이동하여 보관한 뒤 보관 위치를 스마트폰으로 위치정보 데이터를 전송하는 방식이다. 본 논문을 통하여 우리가 집에서 관리하는 물건을 잊지 않고 쉽게 찾을 수 있는 가능성을 확인하였으며 무인 창고관리 기술의 발전에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

초등학생 학부모의 식습관 및 식생활능력 평가 (An Evaluation of Dietary Habits and Dietary Life Competency of Elementary School Parents)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the current status of dietary habits and dietary life competency of elementary school parents, who are influential to the dietary life of their children and family. A survey was conducted with 362 elementary school parents living in Seoul and Gyeonggi province by using a self-administered questionnaire consisting of 53 questions on dietary habits, dietary life competency, home cooking frequency, and dietary education needs. The results were as follows: The scores of dietary habits and dietary life competency were 76.35 and 74.51 out of 100, respectively, suggesting a need for improvement. Parents with higher monthly income, demonstrated higher scores of both dietary habits and dietary life competency (p<0.001). As expected, female parents showed higher scores of dietary life competency than male parents (p<0.01). there was also a close relationship between the scores of dietary habits and dietary life competency (r=0.58). The parents with high scores for dietary habits and dietary life competency showed a significantly higher frequency of home cooking (p<0.001) compared to medium- or low-scored parents. Most parents answered that dietary education need to be started earlier, and that their main source of dietary life information was mass media. They also showed a preference for real experience and practice for dietary education. The above results showed that there is a close relationship between dietary habits and dietary life competency, and suggest that continuous education is necessary to improve the dietary habits and dietary life competency of elementary school parents. Because monthly income appeared to be the most influential socioeconomic factor for the parents' dietary habits and dietary life competency, continuous efforts on dietary education are necessary to reduce the score gaps in these categories.

학령기 아동의 응급상황에 대한 대처 측정도구 개발 (Development of a Coping Scale for Emergency Situations with Elementary School Students)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to develop an instrument to measure coping in emergency situations. Methods: The process included construction of a conceptual framework, generation 60 primary items, verification of construct validity and extraction of final items. The.60 preliminary items were reviewed for content validity by seven experts and were tested to evaluate inter-item correlation coefficient by three groups of elementary school students. From November 1 to December 10, 2008, data were collected from 920 elementary school students according to residential characters (major city, small town, rural area). Item analysis, factor analysis with rotation Varimax and Cronbach's alpha were used to analyze the data. Results: 1) There were 45 items in the final instrument categorized into 8 factors. 2) The factors were labeled as "Call for help and check" (8 items), "Care for common symptoms" (6 items), "Appropriate response for the situation" (5 items), "Evacuation" (6 items), "Care for tissue damage" (8 items), "Care for injury by heat, cold or foreign body" (6 items), "Offer help" (4 items) and "Rescue & escape" (2 items). 3) Cumulative percent of variance was 53.10% and eigen values ranged from 1.04 to 13.38. 4) Cronbach's alpha for the total was .943 and ranged from .527 to .869. Conclusion: Validity and reliability of the scale are confirmed in this study showing its utility for measuring coping in emergency situations with elementary school students. Utilization of the scale will also contribute to designing appropriate coping education programs for elementary school students.

Elementary Students' Perceived Images of Engineers

  • The number of students choosing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) related careers are declining. Thus it became a worldwide challenge in the $21^{st}$ century. As public images of the engineers are unfavorable and inaccurate, misconceptions and stereotypes about engineers are prevailing. The purpose of this study was to investigate elementary school students' perceived mental and pictorial images of engineers and the nature of engineering work. This study involved 512 fifth and sixth grade students (Boys: 287 and Girls: 225) from four elementary schools at one of metropolitans in South Korea. The Draw An Engineer-Korean version (DAE-K) was developed based on Draw an Engineer (DAE) and Draw a Scientist (DAS), and Song and Kim (1999)'s instruments. A pilot-tested was conducted with 33 elementary students prior to the main study. The students were asked to answer how they think the engineers would be, to draw an engineer at work, and to write the engineer's personal information and the job description. Engineers were perceived as a person fixing, building, manufacturing, working outdoors in labors' clothes such as a robe. Engineers were shown with building tools, robots, airplanes, machines, conveyor belt, etc. Moreover, compared to the scientists, engineers were perceived as less intelligent, less imaginative, and less accurate. The results of this study revealed that elementary school students had a lack of accurate images of engineers. Students' current perceived images of engineers could help educators find the baselines for the future engineering education in elementary schools. In addition, the findings of this study could also contribute to the development of engineering education in terms of gender issues, STEM career choice, and even cultural diversity.

학령기 아동의 사고예방 교육안 개발 및 평가 (Development and Evaluation of Injury Prevention Education Proposal for Elementary School Children)

  • This study was to develop and evaluate injury prevention education proposal which will helpful and can be utilized directly on the first line spot for elementary school children. Education proposal development and evaluation process was 1) Construction of 10-times education proposal contents proper to schooler 2) Testify validity through 3 pediatric nursing professor and 4 elementary school nurse 3) Pretest was done from March, 2002 to July on 3-6th grade 313 elementary school students 4) Through correction and revision after pretest evaluation meeting, final injury prevention education proposal was developed 5) After 10-times injury education, evaluation was carried out about the degree of help in education contents and general constitution of injury education to total subjects of educated children. Injury prevention education proposal consists of 10 times and each subjects are followings. 1st is 「introduction of injury prevention education and the importance of injury prevention」 2nd is「safety in and around home」, 3rd is 「injury prevention in school」, 4th is 「prevention of violence」, 5th is 「motor vehicle safety」, 6th is 「water safety」, 7th is 「prevention of fire and burns」, 8th is 「toy and product safety」, 9th is 「sports and recretional activities safety」and the final 10th is 「injury prevention caused by animals」. In the evaluation, the degree of help in education contents showed it helped to children averaged 1.66 and general constitution showed averaged 2.17 that children satisfied about developed injury prevention proposal. This study expected to provide systematic and concrete guidance in injury prevention education for elementary school children.

초등학생들의 과학 학습과 관련된 인지적, 정의적, 행동적 특성과 과학기술 관련 직업에 대한 인식의 관계 (The Relationships among Elementary School Students' Cognitive, Affective, and Behavioral Characteristics Related to Science Learning and Their Perceptions toward Scientific and/or Technological Professions)

  • In this study, we investigated the elementary school students' perceptions toward scientific and/or technological professions in the views of accuracy, complexity, and diversity, and compared them by the students' grades and their science-related career aspiration levels. We also studied the relationships among the students' perceptions toward scientific and/or technological professions and their cognitive (science achievement), affective (enjoyment of science lessons, attitude to scientific inquiry, self-efficacy), and behavioral (participation in science-related activity) characteristics. The subjects were 369 students of 4th and 6th grades at three elementary schools in Seoul. The results revealed that the students were relatively well aware of what works and professions in science and/or technology were, but they did not have good understanding of them in the views of complexity and diversity. The 6th graders had better perceptions toward science and/or technological professions than 4th graders, although they showed the lower scores of attitude to scientific inquiry. Moreover, the higher science-related career aspirations were, the higher scores in all tests of the perceptions and the personal characteristics were. The students' perceptions toward scientific and/or technological professions were found to have relationships with their cognitive, affective, and behavioral characteristics. The multiple regression analysis of the personal characteristics on the perceptions toward scientific and/or technological professions indicated that science-related activity, science achievement, and self-efficacy were significant predictors. Educational implications are discussed.

초등학생들의 또래관계와 부모관계가 자살생각에 미치는 영향의 융복합적 연구 : 불안의 매개효과 (A Convergence of Effects in Peer Relationship and Parental Relationship on Suicidal Ideation in Elementary School Students : The Mediating Effects of Anxiety)

  • 오늘날 심각하게 대두되고 있는 사회문제 중 하나는 자신의 생명을 스스로 파괴하는 자살이다. 특히 자살생각은 자살로 이어지고 연령도 낮어져 초등학생도 자살생각을 생각하고 있다는 연구들이 보고되고 있다. 이에 연구에서는 초등학생의 또래관계와 부모관계가 자살생각에 미치는 영향과 그 과정에서 있어 불안의 매개효과를 검증하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 이를 위해 초등학교 4-6학년에 재학 중인 273명을 대상으로 또래관계, 부모관계, 불안 및 자살생각에 대한 경로분석를 검증하였다. 주요 분석결과를 보면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초등학생들의 불안은 또래관계와 자살생각 간에 있어 완전매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 초등학들의 불안은 부모관계와 자살생각과의 관계에 있어 부분매개 하고 있다. 즉, 초등학교 고학년 학생의 자살생각을 낮추기 위해 불안요소를 감소시키기 위한 다양한 실천프로그램을 개발하여 현장에 적용하길 바란다.

해외 SW·AI 교육 현황 분석을 통한 초등학교 정보 교과의 필요성 (The Necessity of an Elementary School Information Curriculum based on the Analysis of Overseas SW and AI Education)

  • 4차 산업혁명으로 인한 사회 변화에 발맞추어 해외에서도 미래의 교육을 위해 정보교육(information education)을 강화하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 해외 주요국에서 진행 중인 정보교육 중에서 초등학교의 소프트웨어 교육과 인공지능 교육의 현황을 살펴보고 현재 우리나라의 교육과 비교하였다. 주요국에 비해 우리나라의 초등학교의 소프트웨어 교육을 위한 시간은 매우 적었으며 이로 인해 교육과정의 성취기준의 내용을 충분히 다루지 못하고 있다. 또한, 해외 주요국들은 4차 산업혁명의 주요 기술인 인공지능의 중요성을 인지하고 소프트웨어 교육의 토대 위에서 인공지능 교육을 국가 차원에서 추진하고 있었다. 현재, 우리나라도 정부 차원에서 추진 중에 있지만 초등학교의 정보교육은 다양한 문제점을 갖고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위한 방안으로 초등학교에 정보 교과를 신설해야 할 필요성을 강조하였다.
