Internet Addiction Status and Anysis of Elementary Students in CheonAn City (천안 지역 초등학생의 인터넷 중독 실태 분석)

  • Recently Internet addiction problem comes to fore as social issues. The phenomenon is increasing rapidly at elementary school life. In our paper, we are going to analysis the interrelation of the state of Internet addition and the school life. We make progress our research for elementary students in Chonan City. According to the poll, 45.4 percent of respondents were disrupted their studies from Internet. Also, 48.3 percent of respondents have difficulties related to the internet addiction.

  • Presently, elementary school students take coercive action in case error or fault happens while they are using computers. These action are caused by lack of comprehension about basic computer concepts. In this paper, we propose an instructional method for basic computer concepts based on various instructional method. To estimate the effect of proposed method, a class over 16 phases is performed. We show that a effect of class and necessity of development of instructional learning method for basic computer concepts education in elementary schools on the basis of result that analyze reaction of students after class.

  • Rising rate of IT industry in world economy, major countries strengthen IT education. Especially, Owing to SW become significant in IT industry, curriculums of school to enlarge SW education are made in major country. Korea Association of Information Education have studied a new curriculum and suggest a new plan that content of information education classify by 'computer system', 'SW production' and 'fusion activity'. Therefore we study on a curriculum for information of SW production of elementary and middle school. In this paper we firstly suggest object to achieve on information of SW production of elementary and middle school. Next we suggest teaching learning method and evaluation method on them. we expect that the object to achieve on information of SW production we suggest will contribute to develop the curriculum of ICT subject.

  • 2015개정 교육과정은 소프트웨어 교육을 강조하고 있으며, 초등에서도 정보 교육이 실시될 예정이다. 이에 따라 초등 교사의 정보 교수 역량 정도를 살펴보거나 연수 후 연수 효과를 살펴보기 위한 검사도구가 필요한 시점이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 기 개발된 초등교사의 정보 교수 역량을 측정할 수 있는 정보 교수효능감 검사도구 개정의 네 가지 방향성을 제시하였다.

Factors Associated with Physical Activity and Sedentary Behavior among Elementary School Students (일부 초등학교 5, 6학년 학생의 신체활동과 좌식생활 관련 요인)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify personal and social environmental factors associated with physical activity and sedentary behavior among elementary school students. Methods: Cross-sectional self-reported data were collected from a conveniently clustering sample population of 1538 grade 5 to 6 students attending 19 elementary schools in Seoul metropolitan city and Gyeonggi province. Data were statistically analyzed using Chi-square test and multiple logistic regression analysis. Results: In multiple logistic regression analyses, significant factors that were associated with schoolchildren's physical activity were gender, father's job, social support for physical activity, friend support, participation in school physical education class. Father's education level, mother's job, family functioning and urban residents were significantly associated with TV viewing and gender, age, BMI(obesity), mother's job, family functioning and urban residents were significantly associated with playing computer games among elementary schoolchildren. These results showed that physical activity among elementary school students was most associated with social environmental factors and sedentary behavior among school students was most associated with personal and family environment factors. Conclusion: Health care providers should develop interventions to improve these family and social environmental factors to increase physical activity levels and to decrease sedentary behavior among elementary schoolchildren.

The Necessity of an Elementary School Information Curriculum based on the Analysis of Overseas SW and AI Education (해외 SW·AI 교육 현황 분석을 통한 초등학교 정보 교과의 필요성)

  • In line with the social changes due to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, foreign countries are strengthening information education for the future of education. This study analyzed the current status of software (SW) and artificial intelligence (AI) education among different types of information education programs in elementary schools of major foreign countries, and compared them with the education provided in Korea. Compared to major foreign countries, Korea allocated very little time for software education in elementary schools, making it difficult to sufficiently cover all areas of the curriculum achievement standards. In addition, other countries recognized the importance of artificial intelligence, an important technology of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and were providing artificial intelligence education on the basis of software education at the national level. The Korean government is also planning on providing the education at national level, but it was identified that the information education of elementary schools have many problematic issues. This study emphasized the need to establish an information curriculum for elementary schools as a way to address these issues.

  • In the basis on the revised Information and Communications Technology guidelines at elementary and middle school, it is newly emphasized in 3rd stage of ICT guidelines that the programming education is needed to cope with information-oriented society at the elementary school. But, it is a little difficult for the young students to learn how to make program. In this paper, we suggest a programming education curriculum with Scratch Language and educational contents for the elementary student.

  • This study is the design and implementation of digital textbooks for elementary school computer education based on smart phone. It suggests how to cultivate self-directed learning ability depending on the level and selection of individuals by maximizing on interaction as advantage of digital textbooks. As the content of the digital textbooks, this study used Excel's charting capabilities. As a result of the evaluation of elementary learners having a implemented digital textbook, execution time of creating a chart is reduced in comparison with paper-based textbook user group.

  • In this study, the six types of menu were suggested according to analysis of elementary school website about informational structure, depth and width of the menu, method of arrangement, suggesting form of the menu, ease the menu usage. And we design and develop the menu, and test, adapting the six types of menu on the same control condition, for the purpose of test about affective response and effectiveness, efficiency in user's utilizing these menus. As a result, the menu type of upper part drop-down type and left part suggesting after upper part suggesting type were testified as a menu type of high approach and recognition in the elementary schools web site.

  • With the introduction of the 2015 revised curriculum, software education became mandatory in elementary school. The practical subject in the content for the software education consists of information ethics, algorithms, programming, and computer science. Especially, elementary school encourages the unplugged activities. Unplugged activities are preferred among the teachers in the education field as a teaching-learning method. However, those teachers pointed out that the lack of suitable unplugged activity materials was the biggest challenge. In addition, it was pointed out that the existing materials were not suitable for achievement standards, and there are many simple playing-oriented educations that are not linked to computing activities. In this study, we developed an unplugged activity-oriented robot that can be used for the elementary students to learn the basic control structure suggested in the achievement criteria SW education and to develop creative problem solving ability through various activities using sensors. The effectiveness was verified through the software class using the developed robot in this study.
