점, 선분, 각에 대한 초등교사의 인식분석에 따른 내용학적 고찰 (A Study on the Content Knowledge via Analysis of Elementary Teachers' Cognition about Fundamental Figures(point, line segment, angle))

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze and discuss the viewpoint dealing with the fundamental figures-point, line segment, and angle-of elementary school teachers. In fact, our main subjects in this article are as follows; how do elementary school teachers deal with the fundamental figures?, what is the general notion about the fundamental figures of elementary school teachers? Our such subjects come from the survey results about the 'fundamental figures in J. A. Ko(2009); the elementary school students have a tendency to regard the fundamental figures as not mathematical figures. In this article, we discuss mainly the meta-cognitive shift in the transform of notion, for example, from 'congruent' concept to 'equal' concept, about the fundamental figures.

초등학생들의 지층에 대한 개념 연구 (The Study on the Concept of Elementary School Students Regarding the Stratum)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the degree of concept understanding on the stratum for elementary school students. For this objective, questions on the stratum concept were developed, and concept survey was conducted for random sampling of $5^{th}$ and $6^{th}$ grade 536 students. As a result, students chosen correct answers of the average 57.4% for 16 questions. Below the average rate of correct answers in each domain were 1 question in the definition of the stratum, 3 questions in formation of the stratum, and 4 questions in features of the stratum. Especially, the percentage of correct answers were appeared in lowly that the difference between the visible side and non visible side on the stratum, the definition and formation process of a fault and the main cause of the stratum's exposure. Also, between the residence, grade, and gender of students, there were significant differences in 2 questions, 7 questions, and 1 questions, respectively. Therefore, many elementary school students do not have high understanding about the stratum concept. Through the results of this study, it can be contributed to find an efficient ways as a basic data for modify misconceptions of the stratum to the scientific concept.

제주도 농촌지역의 소규모학교 살리기를 위한 마을임대주택사업과 빈집 정비사업 현황고찰 (A Research on Projects of Rental Housing and Vacant Housing Remodeling for Invigoration of the Small-scale Schools in Rural Villages, Jeju-do)

  • This research aimed to identify transition process of invigoration project of the small-scale schools and status of promoting project of multi-family housing for rental and vacant housing remodeling in Jeju-do, Korea. The results are followings. First, invigoration project of the small-scale schools had been started in villages communities themselves and was institutionalized to local government. To invigorate the small-scale schools was started vacant housing remodeling first in the village itself from 1992. After twenty years had passed, the project was institutionalized to local government in 2013. Second, to enact ordinances about invigoration project of the small-scale schools is the accomplishment of participations and activities of residents who predicted decreasing the number of students in elementary schools. These activities have influenced their communities positively. Finally, to supply multi-family housing for rental or to remodel vacant housing is more effective in increasing residents through influx of students of elementary schools. The average number of students increased from 56.8 in 2013 to 73 in 2018 in 30 elementary schools targeted for invigoration project of the small-scale schools. In particular, the effect in schools targeted the project of rental housing is shown more than schools targeted the project in vacant housing remodeling. In addition, low ratio in the number of closed school is shown in Jeju-do.

초등학생의 컴퓨팅 사고력 신장을 위한 퍼즐 기반 컴퓨터과학 수업모형 및 프로그램 개발 (A Development of a Puzzle-Based Computer Science Instruction Model and Learning Program to improve Computational Thinking for Elementary School Students)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a Puzzle-Based Computer Science Instruction Model and Learning Program and to confirm the effects. To do so, we selected 2 classes with a similar level of pre-computational thinking in elementary schools in the Jeju Province. After that, from 2 classes, we designated the 5th grade students in 'D' elementary school as group A and designated students of the same grade in 'J' elementary school as group B. In a total of 28 sessions during an 18 week period, a Puzzle-Based Computer Science Learning Program was used with 31 students in group A, and the traditional computer science course was used with 25 students in group B. The results showed that there were significant improvements in computational thinking, which is computational cognition and its creativity, of the students in group A compared to students in group B. Also, this study proved that the Puzzle-Based program correlated with positive changes group A students' Science-Related Affective Domain. In this paper, on the basis of proven effectiveness, we introduce the Puzzle-Based Computer Science Instruction Model and Learning Program as an alternative to traditional, computer science education.

제주도 초등학교 학생수 변화 경향에 대한 조사 연구 (A Study on the trend of change in the number of elementary school students in Jeju-do)

  • 제주도의 인구추세는 독특한 지역적 특성을 보이고 있어 이에 따른 제주도 특성에 맞는 학교수용계획 수립이 필요하다고 판단되었다. 그리하여 제주도의 지역적 특성을 면밀히 조사 분석하여 제주도 지역의 적정 규모학교 정책 수립에 관한 기초자료를 제공하기 위한 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 제주도 전체 113개교 중에서 최근 30년내에 신설된 학교는 장기하락 유형3(56)이 가장 많았고, 30년이상된 학교에서는 유형9(W자형)이 24개교로 그 다음으로 많았다. 제주도의 특성이 잘 나타나고 있는 4가지 유형으로는 유형1, 유형2, 유형8, 그리고 유형9이다. 특히 지속상승형인 유형2와 하락-상승-재하락-재상승 유형9(W형)의 발견은 아마도 제주도의 고유한 인구특성에서 나타나는 것으로 보인다. 둘째, 2018년 12월 31일 기준으로 제주도내 제주시와 서귀포시(2개시) 전체 초등학교 113개교 재학생수를 조사한 결과 초대규모학교는 6개교(5.3%), 대규모 학교는 13개교(11.5%), 적정규모학교는 17개교(15.0%), 소규모학교는 27개교(23.9%), 극소규모학교는 50개교(44.3%)로 나타났다. 소규모학교(300명 이하)가 77개교로 전체의 68.1%를 차지하고 있다. 특히 읍면지역에서는 몇 학교를 제외하면 거의 모든 학교가 소규모학교라고 해도 과언이 아니다. 따라서 일반적인 적정규모학교 정책과는 별도로 제주지역만의 특성을 고려한 소규모학교 활성화를 위한 적정규모 정책 수립이 필요한 실정이므로 본연구 결과를 바탕으로 제주도의 동지역을 3개 지역으로, 그리고 읍면지역은 4개 지역으로 구분하여 지역별 적정규모학교 육성방안 개발 방향을 제안하였다. 특히 낙후된 원도심지역과 농어촌지역, 도서벽지지역별 차별화된 소규모학교 육성방안 개발이 시급하다.

한국 초등학교 아동의 행복감 실태조사 (Survey of Korean Elementary School Children's Happiness)

  • This study investigated Korean elementary school children's happiness by gender and grade and by attendance in after-school programs during weekdays and weekends. Participants were 3,608 children in Korean provincial areas except Jeju-do; they responded to the Happiness Scale developed by the researchers. Data were analyzed by frequency, percent, and t-test. Results were (1) children's happiness level was high; girls' happiness level was higher than boys'. As they moved up in school grade, happiness level decreased. (2) Their attendance in after-school programs during weekdays and weekends decreased their happiness level in leisure and extra academic activity, but it increased happiness in school/community life and sibling relations. Conclusions were that reduction in the amount of children's after-school programming would increase children's happiness.

한국 초등학교 아동의 학교수업 외 활동 실태조사 (Survey of Korean Elementary School Children's Extracurricular Activities)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate Korean elementary school children's extracurricular activities by gender, grade and area from a sample of 3,608 children in six Korean provincial areas except Jeju-do. They responded to the questionnaire developed by the researchers. Data were analyzed by frequency and percent using the SPSS PC 15.0 program. Results were as follows: Firstly, 3,337 children(92.5%) participated in extracurricular activities, and the rest(7.5%) did not. This result illustrates that the majority of Korean elementary school children are taking part in at least one or more out-of-school activities. Secondly, the average number of extracurricular activities in which elementary school children participated was 8.48 and the average time allotted was 655.24 minutes; each child took about 8 activities and spent approximately 10 hours per week. Thirdly, main extracurricular activities in which children participated were to go to educational institutes, to take art/physical education lessons, and to study self-learning materials. Lastly, what elementary school children wish to do most in their spare time was to play the computer games, to take a rest, to enjoy family and friend relationships, and to watch the television.

초등학교의 흡연교육 실태 (Status of Smoking Prevention Education in Elementary Schools)

  • A survey was conducted from September 15 to December 15 2001. Structured questionnaires were mailed to school nurses in 607 elementary schools around the country in order to determine the current status of anti-smoking education in elementary schools. The result were as followers 1. Of the 607 schools, 535 $(88.1\%)$ offered smoking-prevention education. By region, Jeju-do $(100\%)$ topped the list, followed by Seoul $(90.3\%)$, Gyeongsang-do$(90.2\%)$, Jeolla-do$(88.9\%)$, Gangwon-do $(87.8\%)$, Chungcheong-do $(84.6\%)$, and Gyeonggi-do $(81.4\%)$. 'Recognition of the need for anti-smoking program $(86\%)$' was a major motivation for initiating the program, while 'too much workload $(46.4\%)$' was cited as a main reason for the failure to do so. 2. The classes were offered mostly for 6th-grade students $(87.8\%)$, while $9.0\%$ and $2.0\%$ were implemented at 5th- and 4th- grades, respectively. 3. $49.1\%$ of the classes offered lasted one hour, while $31.8\%$ involved a two-hour program. 4. Programs were mainly about smoking-related diseases, habitual nature of smoking, impediment to growth and development, etc. 5. Audio-visual lecture $(46.5\%)$ was most frequently used as a method of education, followed by lecture. 6. $72.7\%$ of the programs used classroom as a unit of education, while collective education by sex or by grade accounted for $22.6\%$. 7. Video $(51.0\%)$ was the most popular medium for education, while computer ranked second with $26.5\%$. 8. $92.5\%$ of the education was offered by school nurses. 9. $99.2\%$ of school nurses responded in favor of anti-smoking programs. with $60.1\%$ of them answering that such education is a must. 5th grade was the most commonly cited grade for the initiation of the programs, followed by 4th grade and 6th grade. $33.2\%$ picked two hours as the most appropriate length of the program at the elementary school level. while $25.1\%$ chose 3 hours out of the range of 1-11 hour(s). 10. With regard to the evaluation by school nurses on smoking-prevention program, more than $30\%$ felt that hours of education, education materials, medium of education, interests of other teachers, interests of school authorities, etc. were inadequate or insufficient.

초등학생의 건강지식과 건강증진행위에 관한 보건과 교육의 효과 (The Effects of Health Education on Health Knowledge and Health Promoting Behaviors in Elementary School Students)

  • Purpose: This study was to investigate the effects of health education on health knowledge and health promoting behaviors in elementary school students. Methods: 17 sessions of health education were provided to the fifth graders in two elementary schools in Gyunggi Province and data were collected from 268 students. The data of 250 students who had responded both pretest and posttest were analyzed using SPSS program. Results: The scores of health knowledge for mental health, social health, sex and health were lower than other domain. The scores of knowledge for drug abuse/smoking and disease prevention/management were higher than other domain. Overall health knowledge was improved significantly from 0.60 at pretest to 0.81 at posttest (t=15.98, p<.001). The score of health promoting behaviors at post test was higher than score at pre test but this change was not significant (t=-0.91, p<.365). Conclusion: Health education had significant effects on health knowledge and we need to maintain and activate health education in elementary schools. Health education did not have significant effects on health promoting behaviors, we need to do further research for understanding why and how we improve health promoting behaviors.

초등학생 스마트폰의 교육적 활용실태 분석 (Analysis of the Educational Utilization of Smartphones on Elementary Students)

  • 초등학생의 스마트폰 사용은 매우 활성화되고 있다. 이러한 정보화기기의 사용 실태를 조사 분석하고, 교육적 활용방안을 분석하였다. 본 연구에서는 스마트폰 사용과 관련된 일반적 변인을, 재학 중인 학교소재 지역, 성별, 학년, 스마트폰의 필요성, 스마트폰 사용 여부, 일반 핸드폰 사용 여부의 총 6개로 정하여 스마트폰에 대한 지식 태도 실천 수준을 분석하였다. 스마트폰의 교육적 활용방안으로는 교육정보를 얻는 수단으로 자리잡아가고 있음은 분명하나, 교육적 효과는 중립적이거나 부정적인 견해를 보였다. 이러한 분석을 근거로 본 연구에서 스마트폰의 교육적 활용실태 분석을 제시한다.
