병렬 타부 탐색법을 이용한 대규모의 발전기 기동정지계획 (Large Scale Unit Commitment Using Parallel Tabu Search)

  • This paper proposes a method of solving a unit commitment problem using parallel tabu search(PTS) approach. Tabu search is a heuristic optimization method that has the tabu list to control the search process. To improve the searching ability of a global solution, we used a method of exchanging solutions among connected processors as a diversification strategy, and to reduce the computation time, a new evaluating method was proposed which evaluates only a changed par. To show the usefulness of the proposed method, we simulated for 10 units system and 110 units system. Numerical results show improvements in the generation costs and the computation time compared with other conventional methods.

  • Integration of wind generators with the conventional power plants will raise operational challenges to the electric power utilities due to the uncertainty of wind availability. Thus, the Generation Scheduling (GS) among the online generating units has become crucial. This process can be formulated mathematically as an optimization problem. The GS problem of wind integrated power system is inherently complex because the formulation involves non-linear operational characteristics of generating units, system and operational constraints. As the robust tool is viable to address the chosen problem, the modern bio-inspired algorithm namely, Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) algorithm is chosen as the main optimization tool. The intended algorithm is implemented on the standard test systems and the attained numerical results are compared with the earlier reports. The comparison clearly indicates the intended tool is robust and a promising alternative for solving GS problems.

  • In this paper, a cycler system for the Lithium-Polymer battery with the large capacity of 120Ah is presented. This system is constituted as the two units for the charging and discharging. The Lithium-Polymer battery should be charged in CC and CV mode, and it is required a very high precision control of the voltage and current for the charging unit. To decrease the switching noises and harmonics, parallel operation method is adopted and utilized in the power conversion module. The discharging unit has a link AC system function to return the discharging energy of battery to AC line and has comparatively less thermal loss. These units are designed to be controlled and monitored by personal computer. The total system for the battery charging and discharging is described and presented.

  • The 74181 is arithmetic logic units(ALU)/function generator. This circuit performs 16 binary arithmetic operations on two 4-bit words. And a full carry look-ahead scheme is made available in this device. The 74181 can also be utilized as a comparator. This circuit has been also designed to provide 16 possible functions of two Boolean variables without the use of external circuitry. This paper analyzes the function of the logic and the implementation adopted in the design of 74181. The understanding of the logic characteristics of this chip enables us to improve future applications.

  • In this paper, we will describe architecture and key characteristic for the DHS which is used in COMS. DHS is implemented in the fully redundant SCU, the dual redundant MIL-STD-1553B system bus, the payload interface units(MPIU and MI2U), the redundant ADE. the SCU interface with the other main digital units of the spacecraft through the MIL-STD-1553B.

  • In this paper, the method which searchs a character of face and transforms it by FACS(Facial Action Coding System) for face modeling is suggested. FACS has a function to build an expression of face to AUs(Action Units) and make various face expressions. The system performs to find accurate Action Units of sample face and use setted AUs. Consequently it carries out the coefficient for transforming face model by 2D AUs matching.

  • This paper proposes an 3D graphics rendering processor for portable device. One the most important factor is chip size for portable device, but the conventional 3D graphics rendering processor is not a suitable because the processor needs a lot of multiplication and division units. So the proposed architecture substitutes single precision floating point by 32 bit fixed point, and uses recursive units for the same operation such as color values(z, r, g, b, a) and texture values (s, t, u, v). In this approach, we reduce numbers of multiplications and divisions by 66.1% and 75% respectively at the sacrifice of performance degradation by 2.12%.

  • In this paper, a high-performance and small-area floating-point divider, which is suitable for embedded processors and supports all rounding modes defined by IEEE 754 standard, is designed using the series expansion algorithm. This divider shares and fully utilizes the two MAC units for quadratical convergence to the correct quotient. The area increase of two MAC units due to the division is minimized in this design, so that it can be suitable for embedded processors. The tested HDL codes are synthesized and optimized with 0.35$\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS standard celt libraries. The results show that the latency of the synthesized divider is 17.43 ㎱ in worst condition. But, the divider calculates the correct rounded quotient through only 6 cycles.

  • This paper describes the automatic testing system developed for powder metallurgy process using the visual inspection, and its some internal algorithms. The system consists of one unit from each of the five types of units; feeding, slot, vision inspection, volumn counter, and inferior good extractor units. Some applications of the system to powder metallurgy process has shown the possibility of reducing the rework and increasing the efficiency of operation.

  • In this paper, we propose a modified feedback neural network structure for adaptive control of robot manipulators. The proposed structure is that all of network output feedback into hidden units and output units. Learning algorithm is standard back-propagation algorithm. The simulation showed the effectiveness of using the new neural network structure in the adaptive control of robot manipulators.
