  • The leisure life pattern of people is changing to a familial and enthusiastic way that eventually develops the camping culture. Thus, the number of campers and the size of camping market have been dramatically increased due to significant expansion of camping people. However, many camp grounds and facilities are operating without a proper registration by government rules and regulations. In addition, many of electronic and gas equipment and tools are not used in a safe way and in a safety regulatory boundary. Therefore, campers at the camping ground is situated in a fire and safety hazard. In addition, there is limitation in rules and regulations associated with camping ground safety and fire. This study analyzed the fire and hazard guidelines and rules regulations of developed countries of campground and compared them to the current situation in South Korea. Therefore, this study is to develop a safety and fire hazard guidelines and rules and regulations related to camp ground operation, gas and electronic equipment operation and management. The study will eventually reduce the future fire and safety incidents in a campground in South Korea.

  • This paper describes the electrical strength of a toughened glass stem insulators employed for electric railways. The broken glass stem insulators for comparison were taken at site. According to the international standards, electrical strength tests with 60[Hz] voltage and with impulse voltage were carried out to them under dry and wet condition and the results were corrected by considering the temperature and humidity factors. Based on the experimental results, the electrical strength of broken glass stem insulators was compared with those of sound ones and surface flashover characteristics were also discussed. As a result, it was confirmed that the electrical discharge is formed by bridging each end of the insulator shell. The experimental results are expected to be utilized as data for electrically identifying the failure causes of glass insulators.

  • Background: Electronic moxibustion has the advantage of temperature control and maintenance, and overcomes the limitations of the existing moxibustion process without the use of the combustion process. However, as the application of electronic moxibustion in clinical practice has increased, safety issues are emerging. Methods: Clinical cases of electronic moxibustion treatment for knee osteoarthritis where burns occurred were collected. In addition, adverse events reported in clinical studies using electronic moxibustion for patients with knee osteoarthritis were collected from studies retrieved from Korean and international databases. Results: There were 3 cases of superficial 2nd degree burns retrospectively collected through chart reviews. Among the selected 5 studies for literature review, 2 studies reported adverse events which were burns milder than those reported in these 3 cases in this retrospective case review. Conclusion: Since the risk of superficial 2nd degree burn was discovered in the cases reviewed, further research on safe electronic moxibustion treatment is required without compromising the effectiveness of moxibustion.

  • Recently, electronic detonators have been widely used in various sites. Electronic detonators are often used for the purpose of reducing the noise and vibration produced by blasting. In addition, electronic detonators are used for precision blasting at sites where mechanical excavation techniques are applied due to proximity of safety things or where blasting by conventional detonators are not possible. Various technologies are being attempted at the blasting site to increase constructivity and lower production costs by using electronic detonators. In this paper, we would like to introduce a construction case that use of electronic detonators in the situation of safety things being adjacent increases the efficiency of construction while meeting the ground vibration criteria of Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport. The blasting was carried out at domestic and overseas shaft using HiTRONIC II™, produced by Hanwha. Generally the shaft blasting is performed by dividing the blasting surface because of the noise and vibration caused by the blasting. but, in the case introduced in this paper, the blasting was carried out once without dividing the blasting surface, thus the construction period could be shortened.

  • Electronic detonators are now widely used in various construction sites and quarry mines. Including the sites where safety-thing is located nearby, Cases of using electronic detonators are increasing to maximize operational efficiency by improving blast fragmentation or reducing the cost of secondary blasting. This case study is about applying for electronic detonators on zone 00 construction site, which is the part of urban area metropolitan express rail A line project. Although the project was initially planned to utilize non-electric detonators, Electronic detonators are considered as the solution not only for safe and fast excavation, but also to minimize civil complaint and the damage of safety-thing. By applying electronic detonators, we were able to satisfy environmental regulations standards and prevent nearby safety-thing from getting damaged.

  • In this paper, we dealt with a safety helmet for detecting dangerous situations that focuses on falling accidents and gas leaks, which are the main causes of industrial accidents. the fall situation range was set through gravity acceleration measurement using an acceleration sensor, and as a result, a fall detection rate of 80% could be confirmed. .In addition, the dangerous gas concentration was measured through a gas sensor, and when a digital value of 188 or more was output through a serial monitor, it was determined as a gas dangerous situation, and a fall warning message and a gas warning message could be checked through a smart-phone application produced based on the app inventor program.

  • Occupant classification and position detection have been significant research areas in intelligent safety systems in the automotive field. The detection and classification of seat occupancy open up new ways to control the safety system. This paper deals with a novel algorithm development, hardware implementation and testing of a prototype intelligent safety system for occupant classification and position detection for in-vehicle environment. Borland C++ program is used to develop the novel algorithm interface between the sensor and data acquisition system. MEMS strain gauge hermatic pressure sensor containing micromachined integrated circuits is installed inside the passenger seat. The analog output of the sensor is connected with a connector to a PCI-9111 DG data acquisition card for occupancy detection, classification and position detection. The algorithm greatly improves the detection of whether an occupant is present or absent, and the classification of either adult, child or non-human object is determined from weights using the sensor. A simple computation algorithm provides the determination of the occupant's appropriate position using centroidal calculation. A real time operation is achieved with the system. The experimental results demonstrate that the performance of the implemented prototype is robust for occupant classification and position detection. This research may be applied in intelligent airbag design for efficient deployment.

  • Increasing safety requirements of automobile are asking companies to find out solutions, based on the ISO 26262 which is a functional safety standard. ISO 26262 is an adaptation of the IEC 61508 for automotive electric/electronic systems. ISO 26262 provides a V model for ECU (Electronic Control Unit) development process to secure safety against vehicle. It well describes the requirements, necessary works and their resulting products for each development phase. However, it is difficult to apply to product development for achieving functional safety in the electric/electronic systems of an automobile because it lacks explanation on the working steps to follow and the methodologies and tools to be used in each step. In this paper, we introduce the outline of the ISO 26262 product development process and present a DFSS (Design For Six Sigma) road-map based on the ISO 26262 product development process as a way to operate efficiently the ISO 26262 product development process. The DFSS road-map consists of five phases: Define, Measure, Analyze, Design, and Verify. The detailed activities, tools, inputs, and work products are given for each phase.

  • Recently, all kind of 21C-typed electronic goods show the tendency of hightechnology and digital convergence rapidly. Also, failure mechanism which differs from original goods concept presents. Today, failure mechanism which differs from one that was happened by restricted harmful environment material before adapted the raw of environment material is changing the paradigm of reliability engineering. Thus, when applied the environment matter of original and secondary material at the electronic goods were removed, reliability assessment method and prediction stay into low level. This study suggests as solution to overcome these phenomenon. The study on the management method of environmental restriction substances which is recognized as important element in the reliability assessment about environment material of electronic goods and the study on reliability assessment method of PWB without environment material are progressed.
