Recent activation of DMB has enabled various high quality video, audio and data services. And there are various user facilities functions using digital data transmission. One of the various user facilities functions is EPG(Electronic Program Guide). EPG supports schedule of programs on screen for. audiences. EPG is composed to time, title, channel, genre etc. Users can select a program what they want to browsing. Currently EPG services are displaying program schedule on screen visually and make users to input ke:ywords with keypads, remote control devices or touch screen etc. However, this approach could cause a serious restriction to some users like to drivers or visually handicapped persons. A standard for a voice EPG to T-DMB is proposed. This method must be transferred VoiceXML based EPG files from the transmitter to receivers. This approach has a problem to process a standardization because the transmitter and receivers should be modified. We proposed and implemented a voice EPG platform that generates the voice EPG files from T-DMB SI without transferring voice EPG file from the transmitter.

The progression of broadcasting technology changed the previous analogue broadcasting system into digital, which in result allowed several broadcasting programs to be transmitted as one stream by multiplexing. This multi channel environment interferes with audience to choose the program they want. EPG acts as supporter in this multi channel environment. The existing EPG system is limited in providing searching function with title, genre, date and Wish-list in multi-media environment. Thus, this thesis proposes new type EPG using PSIP information modification to respond with the change of broadcasting market. This type of EPG can be applied to several kinds of broadcasting systems.

논문은 리눅스를 기반으로 하여 디지털 방송 컨텐츠를 브라우징하는 기술과 서비스에 필요한 기술들을 제시하고 이를 활용한 서비스 모델을 제시한다. 사용자에게 방송 프로그램의 정보의 습득과 검색을 위해 EPG(Electronic Program Guide)를 이용하여 방송 컨텐츠를 장르와 채널 카테고리로 자동 분류한다. 각 프로그램에서 키 프레임을 추출하여 사용자에게 빠르게 탐색하게 하고 줄거리 파악을 쉽게 하였다. 비순차적인 재생 요구를 수용하기 위해 랜덤 엑세스와 컨텐츠와 추출된 키 프레임을 동기화 하여 하이라이트 모드로 재생하고 연속 재생을 할 수 있게 한다. 사용자와의 상호 작용에서 얻어진 채널과 장르 선호도 정보를 이용하여 컨텐츠를 개인의 성향에 맞게 장르와 채널별로 분류하여 개인화된 프로그램 가이드를 제공한다. 컨텐츠의 획득에서 누적된 취향에 따른 분류, 브라우징을 위한 키프레임 추출과 샷 분류를 통한 가공, Payper-View를 위한 사용정보에 이르기까지 리눅스 기반의 로컬 스토리지를 활용한 디지털 방송 브라우징 모델을 제시한다.

In this paper, we present POSSDM (POSTECH Situation-Based Dialogue Manager) for a spoken dialogue system using a new example and situation-based dialogue management technique for effective generation of appropriate system responses. Spoken dialogue system should generate cooperative responses to smoothly control dialogue flow with the users. We introduce a new dialogue management technique incorporating dialogue examples and situation-based rules for EPG (Electronic Program Guide) domain. For the system response inference, we automatically construct and index a dialogue example database from dialogue corpus, and the best dialogue example is retrieved for a proper system response with the query from a dialogue situation including a current user utterance, dialogue act, and discourse history. When dialogue corpus is not enough to cover the domain, we also apply manually constructed situation-based rules mainly for meta-level dialogue management.

Such as closed caption, ancillary data, electronic program guide(EPG), data broadcasting, and etc, increased data for service convenience cause to degrade video quality of high definition contents. This article propose a method to transfer the closed caption data of video contents without video quality degradation. Video quality degradation does not cause in video compression by the block image insertion of caption data in DTV essential hidden area. Additionally the proposed methods have advantage to synchronize video, audio, and caption from preinserted script without time delay.

LGKMA 시스템은 형태소 분석기와 품사 태거 및 명사 추출기로 구성되며, LG 종합기술원에서 연구 개발 중인 다국어 정보 검색, 음성 합성, 개인정보처리 에이전트 및 디지털 TV의 프로그램 안내문을 분석, 검색하는 EPG(Electronic Program Guide) 응용 둥 다양한 응용 프로그램에서 사용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 형태소 분석기와 태거의 기반 기술보다는 LGKMA(LG Korean Morphological Analyser)의 전반적인 구조와 다른 시스템과 비교했을 때의 특성, 그리고 실제 응용되는 사례를 소개하고자 한다. 또 표준화를 위해서 열렸던 MATEC99에 참가하기 위해서 수행했던 작업들을 보고한다.

디지털 방송은 수많은 프로그램과 기존의 아날로그 방송에서 볼 수 없었던 다양한 서비스를 제공하며 발전하고 있다. 하지만 시청자들에게는 방송 서비스 채널과 기능이 많아질수록 원하는 채널을 검색하고 전환하는 과정이 어렵고 복잡한 일이 되어 버릴 수 밖에 없을 것이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 이러한 정보 획득과정의 축소를 위해 전통적인 리모콘으로 채널을 검색하고 이동하는 절차를 벗어나 음성인식을 통한 동적 EPG(Electronic Program Guide) 제어 시스템을 설계하고 구현하고자 한다. 이는 EPG정보와 시청자의 TV시청 성향 및 History를 기반으로 구동되는 시스템으로 음성대화의 구조적 정의가 가능한 VXML(VoiceXML) 인터프리터를 활용한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 대화형 인터페이스는 다양한 디지털방송 서비스에 접목이 가능 할 것이며, 새로운 형태의 디지털 가전기기 파일럿 인터페이스 개발에 도움이 될 것이라 기대한다.

최근 방송의 디지털화에 따라 수많은 채널의 수용이 가능하게 되어, 현재와 같이 신문의 방송편성표를 보고 사용자가 원하는 프로그램의 시작 시간을 알아내는 것은 힘들어 졌다. 디지털방송에서는 신문 방송 편성표와 같은 기능을 하는 방송 프로그램에 대한 정보를 보여주는 EPG(Electronic Program Guide)를 제공하고 있다. 현재 서비스되고 있는 EPG를 보면, 프로그램의 시작 시간을 GUI로 사용자가 쉽게 알아 볼 수 있어 하고 있어 신문 편성표나 인터넷으로 제공되는 각 방송국의 편성표와 달리 TV 화면에서 프로그램 정보를 검색할 수 있어 편리해졌다. 그러나 이 EPG에서 제공되는 시간은 매우 부정확하기 때문에 시청자가 불편을 느낄 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 방송의 시작 시간을 정확히 알아내어 EPG를 정확히 갱신하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 방송의 시작부분을 미리 저장한 후, 시작 부분을 Visual Rhythm을 이용해 shot들을 추출하여 데이터베이스를 구성하고, 이와 같은 방식으로 방송 스트림의 shot들도 추출하여 데이터베이스와의 Pattern Matching을 통해 보다 정확한 방송시간으로 EPG를 갱신하고자 한다.

2001년 하반기 이후 디지털 TV 시대가 열리면서 채널의 수와 그에 따른 프로그램의 수가 폭발적으로 증가했다. 그리하여 기존의 방법으로는 시청자가 원하는 프로그램을 선택하는 것이 어려운 일이 되었다. 이 문제를 해결하는 방안으로서 pEPG(personalized Electronic Program Guide)가 많이 연구되어 왔으며 본 논문에서는 pEPG를 위한 추천 방법에 대해 연구하고자 한다. 기존의 추천 방법은 내용기반추천과 협업추천이 대표적인데, 이들은 어느 한족이 우월하다기 보다 각각의 단점을 상호보완해주는 관계에 있다. 각 추천 방법이 TV환경의 pEPG에 적용될 때는 어떤 장단점이 있는지 살펴보고, 이에 인구통계학적추천을 혼합한 기법을 제안한다.

이 논문은 개인용 비디오 녹화기(PVR)의 전자 프로그램 가이드(EPG) 서비스에 관한 것으로, PVR과 EPG의 연동으로 TV 방송 프로그램 녹화 진행 상태를 EPG상에 표시하는 방법을 제안한다. 이 과정은 다채널 방송의 프로그램 편성 정보인 EPG를 수신하고, EPG에서 방송 컨텐츠 편성기를 통해 적어도 하나 이상의 예약 녹화 화를 한 후, 예약 녹화에 의해 해당 프로그램의 녹화를 시작해서 현재 녹화중인 프로그램을 표시해주는 3단계로 이루어진다. 본 논문의 PVR의 EPG상에서 녹화 진행 상태 표시 방법은 개인용 비디오 녹화기에서 사용되는 전자프로그램 가이드에 현재 녹화중인 프로그램을 표시해 줌으로써 사용자가 프로그램을 선택하는 데 있어서 보다 많은 정보를 제공할 수 있고, 현재 녹화 진행 상태를 알 수 있어 편리한 사용자 인터페이스로 활용될 수 있다.
