This paper presents the design and implementation of a QoS based enhanced collaboration system in MDO. This is an efficient distributed communication tool between designers. It supports text communication, audio/video communication, file transfer and XML data sending/receiving. Specially, this system supports a dynamic QoS self-adaptation by using the improved direct adjustment algorithm (DAA+). The original direct adjustment algorithm adjusts the transmission rate according to the congestion level of the network, based on the end to end real time transport protocol (RTP), and controls the transmission rate by using the information of loss ratio in real time transport control protocol (RTCP). But the direct adjustment algorithm does not consider when the RTCP packets are lost. We suggest an improved direct adjustment algorithm to solve this problem. We apply our improved direct adjustment algorithm to our of QoS (Quality of Service) [1] based collaboration system and show the improved performance of transmission rate and loss ratio.
The importance of simulation of plastic flow in the injection mold is increasing as the parts are more complex, but the small-scale enterprises can't afford to invest for the infra individually. CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) service was naturally born based on these needs. This paper presents the engineering collaboration model between the large and the small/medium enterprises in the field of injection molds. Based on the engineering collaboration hub and CAE service, small-scale enterprises could research the necessary technology and develop the proper products. The analysis results of CAE are provided by the integrated visualization system on the web. This paper also deals with the delivery shorting process of CAE service for electric/electronic parts which should meet the needs of customers as soon as possible.

The purpose of this research is to develop a collaborative architectural design system. Design collaboration requires an extensive use of communication methods as well as the participation of various experts from different domains. Such facts address several issues when the Internet and digital media are able to create a completely new work environment. The building design process was studied, and possible modes of design collaboration were defined. A prototype system is being developed in accordance with the defined collaboration model. The system integrates a set of communication tools and web-based design media. Such media include a synchronous multi-user web CAD tool, a schematic 3D design tool, and a electronic whiteboard. A project database was designed in order to coordinate the project-wide communication which elaborates technologies such as web-based data access. In order to find out the effectiveness of the system, a usability test was performed both in quantitative and qualitative manner. The research will contribute to the development of world-wide design and construction collaboration through the Internet, which is becoming a mainstream building process model.
This paper investigates the effects of technology collaboration between the main supplier and buyer on buyer's new product development under dynamic environment. Based on 428 Korean manufacturing firms, we conducted regression analysis. The technology collaboration between the main supplier and buyer is adopted as a independent variable and quality, cost and lead time performance of new product development projects are used as dependents variables. Environment dynamic is also used as a moderate variables. We found that the in general, technology collaboration is positively associated with the performance of buyers' new product development, but in the high degree of dynamic environment, technology collaboration is negatively associated with the performance of buyers' new product development unlike our expectation. Thus, we divide our sample into two groups; shipbuilding industry with the low degree of environment dynamic and electronic and IT device industry with the high degree of environment dynamic and conducted a post hoc analysis. As a result, in ship building industry, the technology collaboration is significant to improve NPD projects performance, while in electronic and IT device industry, the technology collaboration with a main supplier is not significant as well as coefficient is negative. In that, under the highly dynamic condition with the fast change of technology and products obsolescence the NPD collaboration with the main supplier does not works unlike a stable environment. This implies that the NPD attributes of buyer are different by their environmental factor and the fit between given environmental feature and the collaboration synergy is critical factor for improving the effect of NPD collaboration between supplier and buyer.

We present a new collaboration model between industry and university through the case study of LG Electronics and Handong Global University. The aim of this education-oriented model is providing highly competitive engineers to the fields instead of accomplishing research projects or developing a new high-end technology. The proposed cooperation model is a win-win strategy for both academia and industry to have not only short-term but also long term benefits. We discuss how to develope and manage the demand-driven course which is the core program of our model. And we also evaluate the pros and cons of this collaboration model.

Currently, there is increasing demand for weather information, however, providing meteorology and climate information is limited. In order to improve them, supporting the meteorology and climate big data platform use and training the meteorology and climate big data specialist who meet the needs of government, public agencies and corporate, are required. Meteorology and climate big data requires high-value usable service in variety fields, and it should be provided personalized service of industry-specific type for the service extension and new content development. To provide personalized service, it is essential to build the collaboration ecosystem at the national level. Building the collaboration ecosystem environment, convergence of marine policy and climate policy, convergence of oceanography and meteorology and convergence of R&D basic research and applied research are required. Since then, demand analysis, production sharing information, unification are able to build the collaboration ecosystem.

This study empirically examined different patterns of collaborative R&D project with their key success factors(KSFs), using data from 80 projects in the Korean electronic parts industry The patterns in this study were categorized into 4 types by two criteria : product types(off-the-shelf/unique) and project initiator (focal/partner). The bivariate relationships revealed that project characteristics (technological complexity, demand certainty), partner characteristics(the number of partners, precious experience), process characteristics (participation in the project formulation, specificity of the collaboration process and outcomes) appear to be different among four types of collaboration. Furthermore, this study found that each type of collaborative R&D projects has different KSFs for their commercial success. The KSFs of type 1 (off-the-shelf product and focal organization initiation), for instance, include the strategic importance of the project, the problem solving performance of the focal organization while those of type 4(unique product and partner initiation) are technological complexity, demand certainty, reliability of partner relationship, specificity of the goals, specificity of the process and outcomes, information sharing. Finally, based on this empirical results, managerial, policy, and theoretical implications of the study were discussed.
This study is to find out empirically the success factors on the development stages of e-business in Korean enterprises, to formulate e-business strategy and to decide e-business policy. For this purpose, the study reviews the conceptual framework on the success factors for the development stages of e-business and the data is collected from 304 companies implementing e-business. The study is conducted in three ophases an follows; First, according to this study, the development stage of e-business in Korean Enterprises is between 'Information Access Stage' and 'Core Business Transaction Stage'. Second, four factors comsisted of 29 items derived from factor analysis are named as 'Environmental Adaptation','Customer Relationship management','Marketing' and 'Environment of Organization'. Third, the success factors of first stage(Information Access Statge) include 'Marketing' and 'Environmental Adapotation', the success factors of second stage(Electronic Collaboration Stage) include 'Environmental Adaptation' and 'Environment of Organization' and the success factor of third stage(Core Business Transaction Stage) include 'Environment of Organization'. The results of this study show that; 1) the Korean enterprise seems to be in the Electronic Collaboration Stage of e-business development, and 2) the success factors are 'Marketing' for first stage, 'Environmental Adaptation' for second stage, and 'Environment of Organization' for third stage.

This paper discussed the factors that necessitated information networking, types of networks, benefits of information networking, library information networking and the University of Port 0Harcourt library network initiatives. Information networking is a process of communication, exchange of ideas, resource sharing and collaboration between individuals, organizations, institutions and libraries and it is facilitated by ICTs and the internet for improved accessibility. It has been brought about by information explosion, rapid advancement in information communication technologies, inadequate funding and increased demand for quality information. Networks can be classified into local, national, regional, and international networks and are formed to serve different categories of user communities. Benefits of information networking include resource sharing, on-line conferences and participation in programmes at distant centers, collaboration among scholars in different countries. Communication flow through the internet, social media, and electronic mail. Library information networking started with the interlibrary loan which has metamorphosed into library consortia in which groups of libraries partner to coordinate activities, share resources and combine expertise. The University of Port Harcourt Library network initiatives started with an e-granary (a CD ROM) and the establishment of a local area network. The library subscribes to more than 10 electronic databases. Information networking has greatly improved the sharing of resources in acquisition and dissemination of information resources since no single institution can acquire the overwhelming number of information resources in their various formats.
Surface structure and molecular orientation of self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) formed by the spontaneous adsorption of tetrahydrothiophene (THT) and thiophene (TP) on Au(111) were investigated by means of scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and carbon K-edge near edge X-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) spectroscopy. STM imaging revealed that THT SAMs have a commensurate (3 ${\times}\;2\sqrt[]{3}$) structure containing structural defects in ordered domains, whereas TP SAMs are composed of randomly adsorbed domains and paired molecular row domains that can be described as an incommensurate packing structure. The NEXAFS spectroscopy study showed that the average tilt angle of the aliphatic THT ring and $\pi$-conjugated TP ring in the SAMs were calculated to be about $30^o\;and\;40^o$, respectively, from the surface normal. It was also observed that the $\pi$* transition peak in the NEXAFS spectrum of the TP SAMs is very weak, suggesting that a strong interaction between $\pi$-electrons and the Au surface arises during the self-assembly of TP molecules. In this study, we have clearly demonstrated that the surface structure and adsorption orientation of organic SAMs on Au(111) are strongly influenced by whether the cyclic ring is saturated or unsaturated.
