  • Various oxide particles are synthesized in an ambient condition using an electron beam irradiation system. The formation of oxide particles is confirmed by FT-IR spectra results and the X-ray photoelectron spectrum. It is also shown that the morphology and size of oxide particles are significantly influenced by the type and flowrate of dilution gas. The energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis also confirms that various oxide particles are synthesized.

  • Wake field effect on the electron beam from the undulator chamber in PAL-XFEL is analyzed. The wake field takeover some energy from the electron beam which will increase the energy spread of the electron beam. This will cause the degradation of the radiation power in PAL-XFEL. To decrease the effect, the surface of the undulator vacuum chamber should be fabricated with 200 nm surface roughness and 5 nm oxidation layer. In this presentation, the numerical calculation of the wake will be shown. Simulation results of the radiation generation in PAL-XFEL also will be presented.

  • The spherical aberration and optical integer (f) of the electron gun's main lens in color CRT is obtained, using electron beam trajectory. A spherical aberration is obtained from the relation between the object plane and the image of a beam trajectory. To analyze beam profile, 3rd and 1st order coefficient were obtained and used. It is shown that, in practice, they are applied to electron gun design.

  • In this paper, we present a design and experiment study of high power large diameter backward wave oscillator. Analysis is made within the scope of linear theory of absolute instibility. The Electron beam generator may be atteractive source of high power millimeter microwaves which has simpler structure.

  • Actin and myosin solutions and fresh ground pork were irradiated with the electron beam (e-beam) at a dose of 0, 1.5, 3.0, 5.0 and 10 kGy. The changes in SDS-PAGE pattern of 2 proteins and the salt-soluble proteins extracted from ground pork after e-beam irradiation were monitored. When the myosin solution was irradiated with e-beam, myosin was degraded completely. Complete myosin degradations were observed even with the lowest dose (1.5 kGy) of e-beam treatment. Actin was degraded with the irradiation, but to a less extent than myosin was. The degradation of actin increased as the e-beam treatment increased from 1.5 to 10.0 kGy. Among the salt-soluble proteins extracted from ground pork, myosin was degraded gradually when the e-beam dose increased from 1.5 up to 10.0 kGy. Similar gradual increase in the degradation of actin also occurred with the increase of irradiation. Increases of 2 low molecular weight compounds (<29 kDa) were observed when the irradiation dose increased from 1.5 to 10.0 kGy. These 2 molecules are thought to be the breakdown products produced from the degradation of major salt-soluble proteins, myosin and actin. The salt-soluble protein content of ground pork did not change with the e-beam irradiation.

  • This study investigated inhibitory doses of electron beam and X-ray irradiation by comparing their effects on the development and reproduction of four insect pests (Myzus persicae, Tetranychus urticae, Liriomyza trifolii, and Frankliniella intonsa). When M. persicae nymphs were irradiated with 100 Gy of electron beam and 30 Gy of X-ray beam, offspring production by adults that developed from the treated nymphs was completely inhibited. When M. persicae adults were irradiated with 200 Gy of electron beam and 50 Gy of X-ray beam, emergence of the $F_1$ generation was inhibited. However, these two ionizing radiations did not affect adult longevity. When T. urticae eggs were irradiated with 150 Gy of electron beam and 50 Gy of X-ray beam, egg hatching was completely inhibited. When L. trifolii pupae were irradiated, the emergence rate decreased with increasing doses of X-ray irradiation. After F. intonsa adults were irradiated with 250 Gy of electron beam and 200 Gy of X-ray beam, egg hatching of the $F_1$ generation was completely suppressed.

  • The beam position monitor (BPM) in the storage ring measures the position of electron beam with pickup electrodes which are coupled in capacitive way to the electron beam. However, some of the BPM in the PLS storage ring suffer the vertical noise signal at the operation frequency of about 500 MHz, so the pick-up frequency of these BPM is change to 375 MHz. In this study, it is experimentally proved in the PLS beam chamber that the BPM noise is caused by the TE mode excited in the beam chamber.

  • The electron beam simulation technology is indispensable for the recent electron gun design. The technology is becoming more and more important for deflection yoke (DY) design and investigation of the interference effects between gun and DY. Further, it may become vital even for shadow mask, glass funnel, exposure lens and magnetic shield.

  • Using the Monte Carlo method, the impact of the angular distribution of the electron source on the dose distribution for the 2.5 MeV ELV electron accelerator was explored. The experiment measured the 3-D dose distribution in the irradiation chamber for electron energies of 1.0 MeV and 2.5 MeV. The simulation used the MCNP6.2 code to evaluate three angular distribution models of the source: a mono-directional beam, a cone shape, and a triangular shape. Of the three models, the triangular shape with angles θ = 30°, φ = 0° best represents the angle of the scan hood through which the electron beam exits. The MCNP6.2 simulation results demonstrated that the triangular model is the most accurate representation of the angular distribution of the electron source for the 2.5 MeV ELV electron accelerator.
