The excitation temperature and electron number density have been measured for end-on-view ICP discharge. In this work, end-on-view ICP-AES equipped with the newly developed “optical plasma interface (OPI)” was used to eliminate or remove the neg ative effects caused by end-on-plasma source. The axial excitation temperature was measured using analyte (Fe I) emission line data obtained with end-on-view ICP-AES. The axial electron number density was calculated by Saha-Eggert ionization equilibrium theory. In the present study, the effects of forward power, nebulizer gas flow rate and the presence of Na on the excitation temperature and electron number density have been investigated. For sample introduction, two kinds of nebulizers (pneumatic and ultrasonic nebulizer) were utilized.
An electron-excited temperature ($T_{ex}$) is not determined by the Boltzmann plots only with the spectral data of $4p{\rightarrow}4s$ in an Ar-plasma jet operated with a low frequency of several tens of kHz and the low voltage of a few kV, while $T_{ex}$ can be obtained at least with the presence of a high energy-level transition ($5p{\rightarrow}4s$) in the high-voltage operation of 8 kV. The optical intensities of most spectra that are measured according to the voltage and the measuring position of the plasma column increase or decay exponentially at the same rate as that of the intensity variation; therefore, the excitation temperature is estimated by comparing the relative optical-intensity to that of a high voltage. In the low-voltage range of an Ar-jet operation, the electron-excitation temperature is estimated as being from 0.61 eV to 0.67 eV, and the corresponding radical density of the Ar-4p state is in the order of $10^{10}{\sim}10^{11}cm^{-3}$. The variation of the excitation temperature is almost linear in relation to the operation voltage and the position of the plasma plume, meaning that the variation rates of the electron-excitation temperature are 0.03 eV/kV for the voltage and 0.075 eV/cm along the plasma plume.
Spatially fixed bichromophoric systems with nonidentical chromophores have been extensively employed for studies of electron transfer and excitation transfer. Excitation hopping behavior between two naphthy1 moieties on 7,14-dihydro-7,14-ethanodibenz[a,h] anthracene(DEA)has been explored by the time-resolved fluorescence anisotropy measurements. The experimentally obtained value of the hopping rate in DEA agrees at least qualitatively with that calculated on the basis of the Dexter's theory, but disagrees with that calculated on the basis of the Forster's theory, indicates that for a pair of donor and acceptor with inter-chromophore separation as short as 4.5 $\AA$, excitation transfer via electron exchange is a predominant process.

Mg$_2$SnO$_4$having an inverse spinel structure was selected as a new host material of $Mn^{2+}$ activator. The luminescence of the $Mg_2$SnO$_4$:Mn phosphor prepared by the solid-state reaction were investigated under ultraviolet and low-voltage electron excitation. The Mn-doped magnesium tin oxide exhibited strong green emission with the spectrum centered at 500nm wavelength. It was explained that the green emission in $Mg_2$SnO$_4$:Mn phosphor is due to energy transfer from $^4T_1to ^6A_1\;of\; Mn^{2+}$ ion at tetrahedral site in the spinel structure. The optimum concentration of $Mn^{2+}$/ion exhibiting maximum emission intensity by the low-voltage electron excitation was 0.6mol%. ?

In this study, optical diagnosis of plasma was performed for nitrogen doping in graphene using a horizontal inductively coupled plasma (ICP) system. Graphene was prepared by mechanical exfoliation and the ICP system using nitrogen gas was ignited for plasma-induced and defect-suppressed nitrogen doping. In order to derive the optimum condition for the doping, plasma power, working pressure, and treatment time were changed. Optical emission spectroscopy (OES) was used as plasma diagnosis method. The Boltzmann plot method was adopted to estimate the electron excitation temperature using obtained OES spectra. Ar ion peaks were interpreted as a reference peak. As a result, the change in the concentration of nitrogen active species and electron excitation temperature depending on process parameters were confirmed. Doping characteristics of graphene were quantitatively evaluated by comparison of intensity ratio of graphite (G)-band to 2-D band, peak position, and shape of G-band in Raman profiles. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy also revealed the nitrogen doping in graphene.

The resonance Raman spectra of trans-polyacetylene films doped heavily with electron donor (Na) and acceptor (HClO4) have been measured with excitation wavelengths between 488- and 1320-nm, and the relationships between the Raman excitation photon energies (2.54-0.94 eV) and its wavenumbers were discussed. We found the linear dependence of the Raman shifts with the exchanges of excitation photon energies. In particular, the Raman wavenumbers in the C=C stretching $(V_1$ band) showed a dramatic decrease with the increase in Raman excitation photon energies. In the case of acceptor doping, its change is larger than that of donor doping. The observed wavenumber (1255-1267 $cm^{-1}$) of the $V_2$ band (CC stretch) of Na-doped form is lower than that of the corresponding band (1290-1292 $cm^{-1}$) of its pristine trans-polyacetylene, whereas the contrary is the case for the HClO4 doped form (1295-1300 $cm^{-1}$). The origin of doping-induced Raman bands is discussed in terms of negative and positive polarons.

Spectroscopic and electrostatic probe measurements were made to examine plasma characteristics with or without a metal plate for a 10-㎾-class direct-current arcjet Heat fluxes into the plate from the plasma were also evaluated with a Nickel slug and thermocouple arrangement. Ammonia and mixtures of nitrogen and hydrogen were used. The NH$_3$ and $N_2$+3H$_2$ plasmas in the nozzle and in the downstream plume without a plate were in thermodynamical nonequilibrium states. As a result, the H-atom electronic excitation temperature and the $N_2$ molecule-rotational excitation temperature intensively decreased downstream in the nozzle although the NH molecule-rotational excitation temperature did not show an axial decrease. Each temperature was kept in a small range in the plume without a plate except for the NH rotational temperature for NH$_3$ gas. On the other hand, as approaching the plate, the thermodynamical nonequilibrium plasma came to be a temperature-equilibrium one because the plasma flow tended to stagnate in front of the plate. The electron temperature had a small radial variation near the plate. Both the electron number density and the heat flux decreased radially outward, and an increase in H$_2$ mole fraction raised them at a constant radial position. In cases with NH$_3$ and $N_2$+3H$_2$ a large number of NH radical with a radially wide distribution was considered to cause a large amount of energy loss, i.e., frozen flow loss, for arcjet thrusters.

The utilization of scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) in conjunction with cathodoluminescence (CL) has emerged as a valuable tool for the investigation of material optical properties. In recent years, this technique has facilitated significant advancements in the fields of plasmonics and quantum emitters by surpassing prior technical restrictions. The review commences by providing an outline of the diverse STEM-CL operating modes and technical aspects of the instrumentation. The review explains the fundamental physics of light production under electron beam irradiation and the physical basis for interpreting STEM-CL experiments for different types of excitations. Additionally, the review compares STEM-CL to other related techniques such as scanning electron microscope CL, photoluminescence, and electron energy-loss spectroscopy.

The electron drift velocity W and the product of the longitudinal diffusion coefficient and the gas number density $ND_{L}$ in the $0.525\;\%$ and $5.05\;\%$$C_{3}F_8-Ar$ mixtures were measured by using the double shutter drift tube with variable drift distance over the E/N range from 0.03 to 100 Td and gas pressure range from 1 to 915 torr. And we determined the electron collision cross sections set for the $C_{3}F_8$ molecule by STEP 1 of electron swarm method using a multi-term Boltzmann equation analysis. Our special attention in the present study was focused upon the vibrational excitation and new excitations cross sections of the $C_{3}F_8$ molecule.
