In this work, a straightforward component design of a direct current (DC) relay equipped in electric vehicles is discussed. The work aims to provide and evaluate effective measures for reducing high-frequency sound from the DC relay carrying electric power. From the operation experiments for the relay, it is observed that noise is caused by the resonance from the forced vibration by the electromagnetic repulsive force originating at the area of electric contacts with a resonance frequency of around 710 Hz ~ 730 Hz. A finite element model for the relay was established to conduct vibration mode analysis, consisting of stationary and movable contacts and a contact spring. Vibration mode analysis indicates that in the resonance frequency, the movable contact with two-point contacts experiences rotational vibration mode. For the proposed relay with a three-point contact, vibration mode analyses give reasonable results of reducing noise at that frequency. Furthermore, for the fabricated relays with the three-point contact, similar results have been obtained. In conclusion, one can see that the proposed measures provide one of the feasible solutions to the reduction of relay noise.

The characteristics of vibration and noise of a compressor used for electric appliances have significant influence on the quality of the products. For improvement on the quality of electric appliances, investigations for understanding the dynamic behaviour of the compressor are essential. Since Virtual Lab for the dynamics model and MAXWELL for the electromagnetics model are separate software programs with no interface, the joint simulation of the models could not be performed. This study suggests a way to develop the compressor model capable of the joint simulation with MATLAB/SIMULINK linking a flexible multi-body dynamics model, a torque model, and an electricity control model. The compressor model is found to be able to perform I/O data transfer among the sub-models and joint simulation. The simulation results of the flexible body and rigid body dynamics models were compared to check availability of the joint simulation system. In addition, the simulated vibration and driving torque of the compressor mechanisms were compared with measurements. Through the simulations, the influence of springs and LDT on the dynamic behaviour of the compressor was examined. This study examines the influence of the dynamic behaviour of the compressor mechanisms through joint simulation of the flexible multi-body dynamics model and electromagnetic circuit allows analysis.

Accelerometers play a key role in the structural assessment. However, the current electric type accelerometers have certain limitations to apply some structures such as heavy cabling labor, installed sea structure and sensitivity to electromagnetic fields. An optical Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) accelerometer has many advantages over conventional electrical sensors since their immunity to electromagnetic interference and their capability to transmit signals over long distance without any additional amplifiers, and there is no corrosion from sea water. In this paper, we have developed a new FBG-based accelerometer. The accelerometer consists of two cantilevered type beams and a mass and two rollers. A bragg grating element is not directly glued to a cantilever to avoid possible non-uniform strain in the element. Instead, the bragg grating element will be attached to rotation part that rolled inducing vertical movement of the mass and support cantilever beams so that the bragg grating element is uniformly tensioned to achieve a constant strain distribution. After manufacturing, we will prove the performance and the natural frequency of the accelerometer through the experiment with a vibration shaker. The FBG-based accelerometer is developed for measuring the vibration not exceeding 50 Hz for the marine and civil structures.

The miniaturization of electrostatic precipitator is becoming a key element to the success of the efficient electrostatic precipitator due to the limited space allowed to install electrostatic precipitator in subway tunnel. Nowadays, a research on electrostatic precipitator in urban railroad equipment technology is under an active study. Finite element method has been used one of the most popular techniques, but it consumes a lot of time especially in computation iterations. Accordingly, the lumped parameter analysis can be an alternative tool to FEM because of its computation iteration capability with fair accuracy. In this paper, lumped parameter model and the simulation results are presented. In addition, the result of lumped parameter analysis is compared with those obtained from finite element analysis for verification.
The aim of this study was to improve the performance of hybrid energy harvesting block merge the vibrations and the pressure developed in the previous study. The power generation performance of the energy block improved in this manner was measured and compared with the energy performance of the products previously developed. In previous models, the center has placed a piezoelectric, the two sides had arranged a vibration applying electromagnetic inducing type. Improved model was disposed three in a row of three unit modules for one block. We change the design in the following way. That is, a unit module has been placed the upper piezoelectric body, the lower portion were arranged three electron donation. In laboratory conditions, the power generation performance evaluation results of the improved energy block is as follows. Once when the vibration, power generation was determined to 1.066W. When compared with previous studies, and power generation performance is improved up to 235%. When the vibration in a row 5, power generation was determined to 1.830W. When compared with previous studies, the performance is improved to 177%. The purpose of developing a hybrid energy block is intended to produce electricity by the pressure and vibration when a vehicle passes through the energy block installed in the car park the mouth portion. Electricity produced will try to take advantage of for the purpose of operating a guiding beacon and LED signage in the parking lot entrance. Therefore, it is determined that there is a need in the experiment to compare the performance of the power generation in the field.

This study investigated the structure of an 8-pole 8-slot linear generator, which acts as an electromagnetic damper by combining the structure of an electromagnetic suspension device capable of generating electrical energy through energy harvesting by absorbing the vibration energy from the road surface while driving. To compare the energy harvesting effect of the electromagnetic suspension according to the actual road surface, a driving road test was simulated for two actual road conditions, an asphalt road surface and unpacked road surface condition, using a civilian combined vehicle model in conjunction with a vehicle simulation program, Carsim and Simulink. As a result, the relative displacements of the suspensions on the asphalt road surface and the unpaved road were 8 mm and 13 mm, respectively. By applying the suspension displacement value derived by modeling the linear generator coupled to the electromagnetic suspension, the simulation was then performed for an analysis time of 0.3s by applying the same analytical conditions using the commercial electromagnetic analysis program, ANSYS MAXWELL, The average power generation on the unpacked roads and asphalt roads was 198.6W and 98.7W respectively, which was 103.7% higher for unpackaged roads. Finally, to compare the sensitivity of the road surface frequency and the suspension input displacement to the power generation output, the sensitivity of the two variables was 1.725 and 1.283, respectively, and the road surface frequency had a 34.5% higher effect on the average power generation.
A coil-type capacitive sensor on which the deterioration of the car engine oil can be in situ measured, has been developed. The sensor was designed to get over 10 pF at the limited space on the drain hole of the oil pan. The design factors for stable capacitance measurement such as coil diameter and winding condition, materials and configuration of the coil former, and shielding method, etc., were known by both computer simulation and experimental investigations. The dielectric properties measured by several sensors for an used sample oil were consisted within 0.25%. The sensor installed on the car having severe vibration, temperature and humidity fluctuation, even electromagnetic noise, has shown very distinguishable results.
We have developed an electromagnetic generator to bury in subcutaneous area or abdominal cavity of the birds. As we can't use a solar battery, it is extremely difficult to supply a power for subcutaneous implantation such as biosensors under the skin due to the darkness environment. We are aiming to test the antigen-antibody reaction to confirm an avian influenza. One solution is a very small generator with the electromagnetic induction coil. We attached the developed coil to chickens and pheasants and recorded the electric potential generated as the chicken walked and the pheasant flew. The electric potential generated with physical simulator is equal to or exceeds the 7 V peak-to-peak at maximum by 560/min of flapping of wings. Even if we account for the junction voltage of the diode (200 mV), efficient charging of the double-layer capacitor is possible with the voltage doubler rectifier. If we increase the voltage, other problems arise, including the high-voltage insulation of the double-layer capacitor. For this reason, we believe the power generated to be sufficient for subcutaneous area of birds. The efficiency, magnetic 2 mm in length and coil 15mm in length, if axial direction is rectified, the magnetic flux density given to the coil could calculated to 7.1 % and generated power average 0.47mW. The improvements in size and wire insulation are expected in the future.

This paper proposes a fractional-order PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) control used electromagnetic strip stabilization controller in a continuous galvanizing line. Compared to a conventional PID controller, a fractional-order PID controller has integration-fractional-order and derivation-fractional-order as additional control parameters. Thanks to increased control parameters, more precise controller adjustment is available. In addition, accurate transfer function of a real system generally has a fractional-order form. Therefore, it is more adequate to use a fractional-order PID controller than a conventional PID controller for a real world system. Finite element models of a $1200{\times}2000{\times}0.8mm$ strip, which were extracted using a commercial software ANSYS were used as simulation plants, and Gaussian mixture models were used to find optimized control parameters that can reduce the strip vibrations to the lowest amplitude. Simulation results show that a fractional-order PID controller significantly reduces strip vibration and transient response time than a conventional PID controller.

This paper discusses methods for the torque ripple and noise reduction of DC motors for automotive air-conditioning based on electromagnetic field analysis. The target of the motor is a blower motor, and to reduce cogging torque and the torque ripple, the optimum model was selected by deforming the brush or commutator shape. In addition, to reduce the cogging torque, the model design was carried out by applying the skew method and the magnetization method of a magnet to the rotor. For optimization, the shape, material, and drive system of the motor were selected using an electromagnetic field as the analysis tool, and the method of reducing the cogging torque was applied to 4-pole, 12- and 13-slot motors considering the mechanical part. Lastly, this paper confirmed thatthemethod, which proposed how much noise, cogging torque, and vibration are reduced, improves through practical analysis.
