  • In this paper, we propose a subspace channel estimation technique for DS/CDMA DMB down link system, which can obtain reduction in numerical complexity by using of matched filtering outputs. The complexity reduction is considerable when the channel length is small and the system is moderately loaded. Previously proposed subspace-based blind channel estimation algorithm suffer from high numerical complexity for systems with large spreading gains. Although the proposed algerian suffers a slight performance loss, it becomes negligible for large observation length. Performance is evaluated through simulations and the derivation of the analytical MSE.

  • In this paper, 5.2 GHz WLAN BPF(Band Pass Filter) using LTCC(Low temperature co-firing ceramic) Multilayer technology was simulated and manufactured. A DGS(Defected Ground structure) resonator with spiral ground pattern is used to shorten resonator size and improve circuit Q factor. And the equivalent circuit of BPF was suggested. The measured result shows good agreement with simulated data. Experimental results show the center frequency of 5.25GHz, the insertion loss of 0.14dB, and the 3-dB bandwidth of 350MHz (6%). The center frequency of BPF is 5.25GHz which is available for wireless LAN.

  • Signal distortion due to the path loss, shadow, and multi-path fading is very serious in radio channel. In this paper, we propose CDMA-OFDM cooperative communication system based on DFP(Decode and Forward Protocol) to overcome these phenomena using spread spectrum technique, orthogonal sub-carrier, and the space diversity. We simulated proposed system under Rayleigh flat fading channel environment. A variety of simulation results reveal the cooperation can provide performance gain of up to 12 dB over direct communications in ideal inter-user case at BER of $10^{-3}$. And we can also confirm variation of diversity effect as channel environment changes.

  • In this paper, a new design for a Coplanar Waveguide(CPW) fed wide-band slot antenna is presented. To enhance the impedance bandwidth of the slot antenna, we proposed the tapering slot structure. A various resonance modes are generated in the tapering slot. The measured impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is about 13:1(2.0 GHz∼25.9 GHz) with VSWR$\leq$2. Simulation and measurement results for return loss and radiation pattern are presented.

  • In this paper, we have studied the dependence of insertion loss of the pressed microstrip PBG ring consisting of coupled two microstrip lines. When the distance decreases, two or three attenuation poles are created by the coupling between the lines. Thus the pressed PBG ring exhibits a wide stop band and sharp cutoff characteristics.

  • In this paper, we have studied the dependence of insertion loss of a microstrip stepped impedance lowpass filter with coupled open stubs. Coupling mechanisms in the filter depend not only on the transmission line width of the filter but also the gap width of coupled open stubs and three attenuation poles are created with the proper conditions. Also edge capacitance between open stubs play an important role in having three attenuation Poles. We verify the results by obtaining [S] matrices.

  • A RF tunable bandpass filter using dielectric resonators and varactor diodes is redesigned to improve the passband flatness. Since the tunable liters are generally of narrow bandwidth and the Q value of the varactor diode is usually very low, the passband flatness is strongly deteriorated by sizeable distortion loss. To remedy this problem, we construct modified Chebyshev type filter by use of network synthesis techniques. The key of modified Chebyshev type filter is the rearrangement of the passband poles to improve the passband flatness. To maintain the constant passband bandwidth, design techniques of input/output stage and coupling windows are also applied. Experimental results show that the passband flatness can be improved by purposed method without any additional RF amplitude equalizer.

  • In this paper, we have designed the duplexer using non-radiative dielectric(NRD) guide in millimeter wave band. The designed duplexer is composed of two stepped-impedance filters and T-junction. Stepped-impedance filters we designed with an equivalent circuit model of evanescent waveguide and the T-junction is optimized to minimize return loss of -20 dB or more. The characteristics of duplexer show good agreements with the expected results.

  • We introduce a new application of the genetic algorithm for design of the coaxial fed circularly polarized rectangular microstrip antenna. The GA shows excellent results for the design of the microstrip antenna which have a very complex objective function including the input impedance, the effective loss tangent and the axial ratio. The objective function is derived from the cavity model, and the size and the feeding point are optimized by the genetic algorithm. The experimental results show good agreement with the simulated results.

  • In this paper, magneto-dielectric material is proposed to use for minimizing antenna size. One examle of very small antenna is presented to prove this with antenna's area of $0.078\lambda_0\times0.016\lambda_0$, and just moderate values of permittivity and permeability while the return loss can reach - 38 dB at the resonant frequency. The parameters of dielectric material for that best performance are $\varepsilon_r=1.71-j0.004$, and $\mu_r=2.39-j2.58$. Besides, this material also has ability to control the trade-off between the gain and bandwidth while keeping the antenna size unchanged.
