Identifying the Appropriate Position on the Ground Plane for MIMO Antennas Using Characteristic Mode Analysis

  • In this paper, a method for identifying the appropriate position on the ground plane for antennas is proposed based on the current correlation coefficient ($C^3$). This method explains that the mutual coupling between antennas when locating several antennas on the same ground plane is necessary. Given the current distribution on the ground plane induced by each antenna, easily estimating the coupling between antennas is possible. This paper also demonstrates that the proposed method can be used in the design of a multi-input multi-output system. The measured data are in good agreement with the simulation results.

  • Magnetic coupling delivering wireless power in capsular endoscope(CE) is described in this paper. The characteristic of the magnetic flux linkage coil which generates the induced electromotive force(emf) under the magnetic field was analyzed. With the analyzed results, a magnetic flux linkage coil system was developed and tested. It was confirmed that the magnetic flux linkage coil system could supply more than 50 mW power at 125 kHz without changing the structure of conventional CE.

  • The electromagnetic topology and the BLT equation has been used as useful techniques to analyze coupling effects of huge devices. But in the case of systems including complex parts, applying the BLT equation can be difficult to manifest the complex parts with analytic solutions. To resolve this problem, a numerical method can be used to parts of the whole system in advance. In this paper, a microstrip line filter is analyzed using the BLT equation combined with numerical solutions. Consequently, achieved graphs from the BLT equation show good agreements with graphs obtained using a numerical method only.

  • PCB상에서의 집중정수 소자를 분석하기 위해 Electromagnetic Top이ogy를 이용한다. 복잡한 시스템에서 EM Coupling 문제를 수치해석이나 실험을 통해 구하기는 어렵다. 이런 복잡한 시스템에서 Electromagnetic Topology 방법을 통하여 EMC 해석을 하는 것은 유용할 것이다. 간단한 회로로 된 PCB를 통하여 이 방법에 대하여 검증해볼 것이다.

  • For the accurate analysis of motional characteristics of electrical machines, it is needed to solve the motion equations together with the electromagnetic field equations. In this paper the sequential coupling of systems, the spring mass system and the electromagnetic system, is adopted. The induced current and the magnetic fields are calculated by FEM with given speed. And then, with the computed electromagnetic force, the mechanical equations are solved by the Runge-Kutta method. The above to processes are repeated sequentially to obtain the time domain solutions. The resultant values are applied to the energy conservation law to prove the usefulness of the proposed sequential method.

고출력 전자기파의 커플링 효과에 의한 마이크로컨트롤러 소자의 피해 (The Damage of Microcontroller Devices due to Coupling Effects by High Power Electromagnetic Wave)

  • We investigated the damage effects of microcontroller devices under high power electromagnetic(HPEM) wave. HPEM wave was radiated from the open-ended standard rectangular waveguide(WR-340) to free space. The influence of different reset-, clock-, data-, and power supply-line lengths has been tested. The susceptibility of the tested microcontroller devices was in general much influenced by clock-, reset-, and power supply-line length, little influenced by data-line length. Further the line length was increased, the malfunction threshold was decreased as expected, because more energy couples to the devices. The surfaces of the destroyed microcontroller devices were removed and the chip conditions were investigated with microscope. The microscopic analysis of the damaged devices showed component and bondwire destructions such as breakthroughs and melting due to thermal effects.

  • An analysis method of electromagnetic coupling through an arbitrarily shaped aperture on the upper wall of parallel-plate waveguide, when excited by an electromagnetic plane wave from outside, is considered. The mixed-potential integral equation, in which Green's functions are expressed in a computationally efficient closed form by using the Prony's method and the Sommerfeld identity, is formulated. Expanding the unknown equivalent magnetic surface current in terms of two-dimensional rooftop-type basis functions and choosing razor testing, the integral equation is reduced to a linear algebraic equation, which is solved. The results are compared with the previous results. Fairly good agreements between them are observed.

  • There are many antenna array errors. They will distort the array beam pattern and result in an increased sidelobe level. A calibration technique is proposed for correcting the antenna array errors such as mutual coupling and unequal feeder characteristics. These are modeled as a matrix representing the interaction between the radiating elements. The matrix is estimated from the measured array response vectors. The antenna array errors are corrected by modifying the beamforming weight vector. It is verified by the electromagnetic simulation and experiment that the proposed technique reduces the sidelobe level and increases the antenna gain.

  • 배열 안테나는 많은 오차 요인을 포함하고 있는데 그로 인하여 빔 패턴의 부엽 레벨이 증가하고 안테나 이득이 감소하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 배열 안테나 오차 중 소자간 상호 커플링과 급전부의 불균일한 전달 함수 오차를 제거하는 알고리즘을 제시하였다. 이러한 오차들은 방사 소자간 상호 연동을 나타내는 행렬로 모델링하였고 이 행렬은 특정 각도들에서 측정한 배열 응답 벡터로부터 추정하였다. 배열 안테나 오차는 추정된 오차 보정 행렬을 이용하여 빔 가중치를 미리 왜곡함으로써 보정하였다. 전파 시뮬레이션과 실험을 통하여 제시된 보정 알고리즘이 부엽 레벨을 감소시키고 안테나 이득을 증가하는 것을 확인하였다.

도파관 슬롯 커플러용 비대칭 복합 아이리스에 의해 급전되는 중심 종방향 션트-시리즈 결합 슬롯에 관한 연구 (A Study of Center Longitudinal Shunt-Series Coupling Slot Fed by Asymmetric Compound Iris for Waveguide Slot Coupler)

  • 본 논문에서는 도파관 슬롯 배열 안테나 설계 시 분기 도파관 내에서 결합 슬롯과 복사 슬롯 간의 원하지 않는 고차 모드 결합을 줄일 수 있는 슬롯 커플러용 결합 요소를 제안하였다. 제안된 소자는 수직 교차하는 두 도파관이 공유하는 도파관 광벽에 위치한 중심 종방향 션트-시리즈 결합 슬롯과 이를 여기시키는 비대칭 복합아이리스로 구성된다. 먼저 HFSS를 사용하여 커플러 구조의 산란 계수를 구하고, 결합 슬롯의 T - 회로망 등가 회로의 파라미터를 추출하였다. 또한, 소자의 구조적인 치수를 변화시키면서 공진 길이 및 정규화 어드미턴스와같은 공진 특성을 분석하였다. 결합 슬롯으로부터 ${\lambda}_g/4$ 떨어진 단락 블록을 갖는 커플러를 설계 제작하여 측정한 실험 결과는 모의실험 결과와 잘 일치하였다.
