Electrochemical Properties of Polypyrrole Nanotubules and it's Application to Lithium Secondary Batteries (Polypyrrole Nanotubules의 전기화학적 특성과 리튬 2차전지 정극으로 응용)

  • Polypyrrole(PPy) nanotubules were formed within template pores by chemical synthesis using $FeCl_3$ as an oxidant. The oxidation peak of PPy nanotubules in the cyclic voltammogram was observed at about 2.8V and 3.3V vs. $Li/Li^+$, while in the case of PPy film, that was observed at about 3.0V. It suggests that the electron hopping on the main chain of PPy nanotubules was improved. When the PPy nanotubules was used to a cathode of lithium secondary battery, we obtained discharge capacity as much as 27 mAh/g, and initial coulomb efficiency by 90%. We expect that the capacity can be improved by further study.

  • The purpose of this study is to research and develop graphene composite for lithium polymer battery. VO(graphene) composite is one of the promising material as a electrode active material for lithium polymer battery(LPB). We investigated AC impedance response and charge/discharge cycling of VO(graphene)/SPE/Li cells. The first discharge capacity of VO(graphene) cathode with 50wt.% V$_2$O$\sub$5/ was 150mAh/g, while that of VO(graphene) cathode with 85wt.% V$_2$O$\sub$5/ was 248mAh/g. The Ah efficiency was above 98% after the 2nd cycle. The discharge capacity of VO(graphene) anode with 3wt.% V$_2$O$\sub$5/ was 718 and 266mAh/g at cycle 1 and 10 at room temperature, respectively. The VO(graphene) anode with 3wt.% V$_2$O$\sub$5/ in PVDF-PAN-PC-EC-LiC1O$_4$ electrolyte showed good capacity with cycling.

  • Carbon thin films were deposited on STS 316L sheets by inductively coupled plasma enhanced magnetron sputtering with or without substrate bias voltage. Typical Raman spectrum for amorphous diamond-like carbon (DLC) was obtained, and the interfacial contact resistance (ICR) was measured to show its conductive nature. The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) was used to investigate the corrosion mechanism of the carbon coating under the polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) condition. According to the pore-corrosion mechanism, the electrolyte penetrates the carbon coating through the pores and reacts with the substrate. As the substrate corrosion proceeds, the pore enlargement occurs and the surface area of the substrate exposed to the electrolyte. Applicability of the carbon coating for the PEMFC bipolar plate was evaluated by potentiodynamic polarization experiments. Finally, an adhesion problem was briefly considered.

  • 실리카 나노입자를 분산시킨 기능성 코팅 소재를 개발하였다. 본 기능성 코팅 소재는 마그내슘 판재에 적용하여 내스크래치 및 내부식성을 향상시키기 위한 것이다. 최근 마그네슘 판재는 스마트 폰 및 이동통신 기기의 외장재소재로 각광을 받고 있다. 그러나 표면의 기계적 강도가 약하고, 특히 수분에 의한 부식이 심각하여 사용에 많은 제한을 받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 실리카 나노입자가 분산된 유무기 하이브리드 코팅을 적용하여 기계적 강도 및 내부식성을 향상하고자 하였다. 분산하는 나노입자의 크기를 달리하여 코팅층으로부터 각각 다른 물리적 화학적 특성을 유도할 수 있었다. 각 코팅 층의 특성은 연필경도, 기판 휨 각도, 그리고 electrochemical impedance spectroscopy 등을 이용하여 평가하였고, 최종적으로 휴대폰 신뢰성 평가 기법을 적용하여 상용화 적용성도 평가하였다.

  • 아연 도금 강판은 우수한 내식성으로 인해 널리 사용되고 있지만 최근 아연의 자원 고갈 및 지속적인 가격 상승문제로 인해 아연의 사용량을 줄이기 위한 연구 들이 진행 중이다. 최근 마그네슘이 첨가 된 아연 박막이 기존 아연 도금 강판에 비해 우수한 내식성을 갖는 결과들이 보고 된 바 있다. 본 연구에서는 비대칭 마그네트론 스퍼터링 방식을 활용해 합성된 Zn-Mg 박막을 전기화학적 임피던스 분광법 (EIS)을 통해 침지시간에 따른 전하이동저항의 변화를 분석하였다. EIS와 XRD 분석 결과에서 Zn-Mg 박막이 부식되면서 형성되는 안정한 simonkolleite 상이 전하이동저항의 증가에 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 판단된다.

  • The state of charge (SOC) is an important parameter in a battery-management system (BMS), and is very significant for accurately estimating the SOC of a battery. Li-ion batteries boast of excellent performance, and can only remain at their best working state by means of accurate SOC estimation that gives full play to their performances and raises their economic benefits. This paper summarizes some measures taken in SOC estimation, including the discharge experiment method, the ampere-hour integral method, the open circuit voltage method, the Kalman filter method, the neural network method, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS. The principles of the various SOC estimation methods are introduced, and their advantages and disadvantages, as well as the working conditions adopted during these methods, are discussed and analyzed.

Effect of the Coaling and Annealing on Noncorrosive of Fuel Cell Separator (코팅과 열처리가 연료전지 분리판의 내식성에 미치는 영향)

  • The molten carbonate fuel cell has conspicuous feature and high potential in being used as an energy converter of various fuel to electricity and heat. However, the molten carbonate fuel cell which use strongly corrosive molten carbonate at $650^{\circ}C$ have many problem. One of the material problems is the severe corrosion of the metallic components, such as the separator. The effect of coating and annealing treatment on the corrosion for SUS 304 and SUS 430 which are the candidate materials for molten carbonate fuel cell hardware has been investigated in molten carbonate at $650^{\circ}C$ by using steady state polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy method. It was found that the corrosion current of these SUS 304 and SUS 430 decreased with coating and annealing treatment.

The Effect of Aggregation States on ionic Conductivity of Stolid Polymer Electrolytes Based on Waterborne Polyurethane

  • Waterborne polyurethane as a new polymer electrolyte was synthesized by using relatively hydrophilic polyols. The morphology of polyurethane was changed as it was dispersed in water. In contrast to polyurethane ionomer, waterborne polyurethane did not form an ionic cluster but produced a binary system composed of hydrophilic and hydrophobic groups. In the colloidal system, the former and the latter existed at outward and inward, respectively. Waterborne polyurethane was prepared from poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) /poly(propylene glycol) (PPG) copolymer, 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate(MDI), ethylene diamine as a chain extender, and three ionization agents, 1,3-propane sultone, sodium hydride and lithium hydroxide. PEG/PPG copolymer was used for suppressing the crystallinity of PEG and N-H bond was ionized for increasing the electrochemical stability of polyurethane. Low molecular weight poly(ethylene glycol) and poly(ethylene glycol dimethyl ether) (PEGDME) were used as plasticizers. DSC, FT-IR and $^1$H-NMR of the waterborne polyurethane were measured. Also, the ionic conductivity of solid polymer electrolytes based on waterborne polyurethane and various concentrations of low molecular weight poly(ethylene glycol) or PEGDME were measured by AC impedance.

  • 본 논문은 Hybrid Electric Vehicle용 리튬이온배터리의 ECM (Equivalent Circuit Model) 선정 방법을 제안한다. 전기 회로를 구성하는 성분들의 특징을 분석하고, 그 결과와 EIS (Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy) 장비의 측정 결과를 참고하여 배터리를 모델링한다. 다양한 종류의 배터리에 이 방법을 적용하여 각 배터리에 적합한 ECM을 선정하고, 그 임피던스를 EIS 측정 결과에 비교하여 타당성을 검증한다. 또한, 기존에 제시된 ECM과 비교하여 정확도 개선을 평가한다.

  • This paper introduces a new structural health monitoring using a nano sensor. The sensor is made of nano smart composite material based on carbon nanotubes. The nano sensor is fabricated as a thin and narrow polymer film sensor that is bonded or deposited onto a structure. The electrochemical impedance and dynamic strain response of the neuron change due to deterioration of the structure where the sensor is located. A network of the long nano sensorcan form a structural neural system to provide large area coverage and an assurance of the operational health of a structure without the need for actuators and complex wave propagation analyses that are used with other methods.
