  • Copper-dimethylglyoxime complex (CuDMG) modified Copper electrode (Cu/CuDMG) showed a catalytic activity towards cyclohexanol oxidation in NaOH solution. The modified electrode prepared by the dimethylglyoxime anodic deposition on Cu electrode in the solution contained 0.20 M $NH_4Cl\;+\;NH_4OH\;(pH\;9.50)\;and\;1\;{\times}\;10^{-4}$ M dimethylglyoxime. The modified electrode conditioned by potential recycling in a potential range of -900${\sim}$900 mV vs. Ag/AgCl by cyclic voltammetry in alkaline medium (1 M NaOH). The results show that the CuDMG film on the electrode behaves as an efficient catalyst for the electro-oxidation of cyclohexanol in alkaline medium via Cu (III) species formed on the electrode.

  • Since PVDF/poly(1,4-butylene adipate) blend shows much lower LCST curve compared with PVDF/PMMA blend, the PVDF/PBA blend can be a good candidate for investigating the effect of the electric field on the phase separation and dissolution behavior of an electro-active polymer and electro-inactive polymer blend. • Angiotensin I, a model decapeptide, was glycosylated and partially hydrolyzed with HCl (6 N, 80 $^{\circ}C$, 4 h), aminopeptidase, and carboxypeptidase Y. A single peptide mass map obtained from truncated peptides in the partial acid hydrolysate of angiotensin and its glycosylation product mixture by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry enabled sequencing of angiotensin by a combinatorial procedure. MALDI-TOF and electrospray ionization (ESI) tandem mass spectrometric results indicate that both the N-terminal amino group of aspartic acid and the guanidinium group of the second residue arginine are glycosylated.

  • This paper reviews recent developments and applications of dielectric elastomers (DEs) and suggests various techniques to improve DE properties. DEs as smart materials are a variety of electro-active polymers (EAPs) that convert electrical energy into mechanical energy and cause a large deformation when a voltage is applied. The dielectric constant, modulus, and dielectric loss of DEs determine the efficiency of deformation. Among these, the dielectric constant significantly affects their performance. Therefore, various recent approaches to improve the dielectric constant are reviewed, including the enhancement of polarization, introduction of microporous structures in the matrix, and introduction of ferroelectric fillers. Furthermore, the basic principles of DEs are examined, as well as their various applications such as actuators, generators, sensors, and artificial muscles.

  • Electro oxidation system was designed in this study for the reduction of COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) from high-strength wastewater, produced during refinery turnaround period. First, BDD (Boron Doped Diamond) electrode was synthesized and electro oxidation system of actual industrial wastewater was developed by adopting the synthesized BDD electrode. The experiments were carried out under various operating conditions under certain range of current density, pH, electrolyte concentration and reaction time. Secondly, reaction kinetics were identified based on the experimental results, and the kinetics were embedded into a genetic mathematical model of the electro oxidation system. Lastly, design and operating parameters of the process were optimized to maximize the efficiency of the pretreatment system. The coefficient of determination ($R^2$) of the model was found to be 0.982, and it proved high accuracy of the model compared with experimental results.

  • High-efficiency red phosphorescent OLEDs employing a novel red emitter and a multifunctional oligofluorene host are reported. With qazIr(acac) as the red phosphorescent dopant, a maximum external quantum efficiency of 19% and maximum power efficiency of 11 lm/W are achieved. In addition, single layer devices using such host and dopant materials have efficiencies up to 13%.
