  • The transformer is major equipment in power receiving and substation facilities. Necessary conditions required for the transformer are compactness, lightness, high reliability, economic advantages, and easy maintenance. The pole-mount transformer installed in distribution system is acting direct role in supply of electric power and it is electric power device should drive for long term. Most of modem transformer are oil-filled transformer and accident is happening considerable. The mold transformers have been widely used in underground substations in large building and have some advantages in comparison to oil-transformer, that is low fire risk, excellent environmental compatibility, compact size and high reliability. In addition, the application of mold transformer for outdoor is possible due to development of epoxy resin. The mold transformer generally has cooling duct between low voltage coil and high voltage coil. A mold transformer made by one body molding method has been developed for small size and low loss. One body molding transformer needs some cooling method because heat radiation between each winding is difficult. In this paper, The thermal analysis of pole mount mold transformer with one body molding by duct condition is investigated and the test result of temperature rise is compared with simulation data.

  • Five kinds of modified electrode arrays were proposed to overcome the weak points of the commonly used arrays using dipole and/or pole in two-dimensional resistivity surveys. The modified pole-pole array was suggested to overcome the inefficiency caused by distant earthing in pole-pole array. Four kinds of modified arrays using dipole were designed to enhance the signal-to-noise ratio of the conventional dipole-dipole and pole-dipole arrays through boosting up the measured potential difference. In the numerical experiments using the two-dimensional modeling and inversion, the effects of the ambient electrical noise and the resolving power were examined and the results showed the validity of the modified arrays proposed in this study.

  • This paper presents the characteristic analysis by changing the shape and position of auxiliary pole core for Automotive stater motor. The brush contact resistance and mechanical loss calculated from the experimental data are used in characteristic analysis. The Finite Element Analysis Method(FEM) and 3D Equivalent Magnet Circuit Network(EMCN) are used for analysis. The validity of the proposed methods are verified by comparison of analysis results and experimental ones.

  • This paper derives an effective shape of the ferromagnetic pole pieces (low-speed rotor) for the reduction of transmission torque ripple in a magnetic-geared machine based on a Box-Behnken design (BBD). In particular, using a non-linear finite element method (FEM) based on 2-D numerical analysis, we conduct a numerical investigation and analysis between independent variables (selected by the BBD) and reaction variables. In addition, we derive a regression equation for reaction variables according to the independent variables by using multiple regression analysis and analysis of variance (ANOVA). We assess the validity of the optimized design by comparing characteristics of the optimized model derived from a response surface analysis and an initial model.

  • A study on the multi-objective optimization of Interior Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Motors (IPMSMs) with 2, 3, 4 and 5 flux barriers per magnetic pole, based on Genetic Algorithm (GA) is presented by considering the aspect of irreversible demagnetization. Applying the 2004 Toyota Prius single-layer IPMSM as the reference machine, the asymmetrical two-, three-, four- and five-layer rotor models with the same amount of Permanent-Magnets (PMs) is presented to improve the torque characteristics, i.e., reducing the torque pulsation and increasing the average torque. A reduction of the torque pulsations is achieved by adopting different and asymmetrical flux barrier geometries in each magnetic pole of the rotor topology. The demagnetization performance in the PMs is considered as well as the motor performance; and analyzed by using finite element method (FEM) for verification of the optimal solutions.

  • Recently, the reduction of electromagnetic vibration and noise of a capacitor motor (CRM) has become a very important subject from the standpoint of environmental improvement. Therefore, the authors have studied the characteristics of the dominant electromagnetic vibration of the CRM under load condition. In this paper, the effects of slot combination and skewed slot on the dominant electromagnetic vibration of a CRM under load condition are discussed both theoretically and experimentally. As a result, the characteristics of the dominant electromagnetic vibration for the slot combination and the reduction effect of the skewed slot on the electromagnetic vibration are clarified for a 4-pole CRM.

  • This paper concerned about a study on the direct pole placement PID self-tuning controller design for Robot manipulator control system. The method of a direct pole placement self-tuning PID control for a DC motor of robot manipulator tracks a reference velocity in spite of the parameters uncertainties in nonminimum phase system. In this scheme, the parameters of controller are estimated by the recursive least square(RLS) identification algorithm, the pole placement method and diophantine equation. A series of simulation in which minimum phase system and nonminimum phase system are subjected to a pattern of system parameter changes is presented to show some of the features of the proposed control algorithm. The proposed control algorithm which shown are effective for the practical application, and experiments of DC motor speed control for Robot manipulator by a microcomputer IRH-PC/AT are performed and the results are well suited.
