  • In this paper, air gap flux density is calculated by permeance model which can consider the effects of the stator slot and the salient pole shape of the salient synchronous generator. No load Electro-motive force(EMF) of the short-pitched and distributed stator winding is also calculated. Therefore, it's very convenient to calculate the THD of the no load EMF for the user's request, in the first design state.

  • The bushing currently applied to pole-mounted type loadbreak switch has porcelain bushing which is connected with the mold cone. This type has potential problems of uncertainty of sealing of the interface part and gas leakage on the connected part between bushing and switch tank due to the weight of the porcelain. The Composite Bushing can solve these problems and also the secondary problem of the potential accident owing to the fragment of the porcelain bushing in breakage due to the outer impact.

  • In this paper, the harbor container crane which transports containers between a container ship and trucks in the harbor is modeled. The equation of motion is simplified for control purpose. The pole placement technique is used to control the crane to minimize load swing angle The objective of the control is to transfer the load as quickly as possible, while minimizing the amplitude of swing at the end of transfer. Computer simulations are provided.

  • Switched reluctance motors have the advantage a high torque/weight ratio, as the large reluctance torque is made by salient poles of both stator and rotor, and a high reliability. On the other hand, the switched reluctance motors have the disadvantage of a large ripple torque which is made by salient poles. So the application for the industrial fields have been limited to special cases. This paper describes the design of a 12/8 switched reluctance motor using a enemy layer method of the asymmetry rotor. The design is focussed to reduce the torque ripple and radial force in the demanded value. The three dimension finite element analysis method(3D-FEM) was used for decides a enemy layer angle of the asymmetry rotor. This paper presents modifications of the rotor pole shape which reduces the torque ripple.

  • This paper presents generalized small-signal models for asymmetrically-driven double-ended dc-to-dc converters. The proposed small-signal models include the effects of the parasitic resistances, which have dominant influence on the damping of the secondary power stage double-pole. To confirm the validity of new models, an asymmetrical half-bridge converter with center-taped rectifier and a forward-flyback converter with current doubler rectifier were built, and their performances were compared with the theoretical predictions.

  • This paper describes the braking performance of the eddy current brake for high speed trains according to the number of poles. The eddy current brake systems have to be equipped with the maximum braking force and deceleration in the given volume or mass, high braking force rate, as small normal forces as possible and stable construction. The parameters, such as the number of poles, electric ampere turns, slot width have influence on the braking force characteristics. In this paper, the effect of braking performance from the variation of the number poles is calculated by using FEM, the number of the pole which makes the maximum braking force is proposed.

  • In this paper, we evaluated the effect the tooth shape influenced against the thrust force which then was confirmed by experimentation. We analyzed the effect of by measuring static thrust force of the Phases of A and B. With this result, we found that there is an area where the thrust force abruptly decreases because the variance of the airgap permeance is very small following the positions of the stator and the mover. And the unbalance among phases showed almost equal, which means that static thrust force of the phases of A and B is very small because magnetic path of the 2-phase 8-pole HB-type is almost equal.

멀티주파수 초음파를 사용하는 피부 치료기기 트랜스듀서의 효율적인 주파수 제어 연구 (A Study on Efficient Frequency Control of Transducer for Skin Treatment Using Multi-Frequency Ultrasound)

  • Ultrasound is one of the effective methods for skin treatment. The skin penetration depth of the ultrasound depends on the ultrasonic frequency, that is, when the ultrasonic frequency is high, the depth is shallow. We have developed a transducer which can generate effectively 3 different ultrasonic frequencies removing interference between 3 types of frequencies according to impedance matching technology. The generated powers of transducer are 40.67W at 3.MHz, 17.46W at 11.7 MHz, and 14.79W at 21.5 MHz. The signal interference between the three frequencies is designed so that they do not interfere with each other by separating the signals using the SPDT (Single Pole, Double Throw) switch. The developed hybrid ultrasound transducer can be applied in skin care or skin treatment and beauty therapy.

Comparison of value-based Reinforcement Learning Algorithms in Cart-Pole Environment

  • Reinforcement learning can be applied to a wide variety of problems. However, the fundamental limitation of reinforcement learning is that it is difficult to derive an answer within a given time because the problems in the real world are too complex. Then, with the development of neural network technology, research on deep reinforcement learning that combines deep learning with reinforcement learning is receiving lots of attention. In this paper, two types of neural networks are combined with reinforcement learning and their characteristics were compared and analyzed with existing value-based reinforcement learning algorithms. Two types of neural networks are FNN and CNN, and existing reinforcement learning algorithms are SARSA and Q-learning.

The Development of the ±80kV 60MW HVDC System in Korea

  • HVDC transmission systems can be configured in many ways to take into account cost, flexibility and operational requirements. [1] For long-distance transmission, HVDC systems may be less expensive and suffer lower electrical losses. For underwater power cables, HVDC avoids the heavy currents required to charge and discharge the cable capacitance of each cycle. For shorter distances, the higher cost of DC conversion equipment compared to an AC system may still be warranted, due to other benefits of direct current links. HVDC allows power transmission between unsynchronized AC transmission systems. Since the power flow through an HVDC link can be controlled independently of the phase angle between the source and the load, it can stabilize a network against disturbances due to rapid changes in power. HVDC also allows the transfer of power between grid systems running at different frequencies, such as 50 Hz and 60 Hz. This improves the stability and economy of each grid, by allowing the exchange of power between incompatible networks. This paper proposed to establish Korean HVDC technology through a cooperative agreement between KEPCO and LSIS in 2010. During the first stage (2012), a design of the ${\pm}80kV$ 60MW HVDC bipole system was created by both KEPCO and LSIS. The HVDC system was constructed and an operation test was completed in December 2012. During the second stage, the pole#2 system was fully replaced with components that LSIS had recently developed. LSIS also successfully completed the operation test. (2014.3)
