  • Maglev is a non-contact traffic system in which cars are supported by magnetic force instead of wheels. This is a ground-breaking traffic system providing superior environmental friendliness and cost efficiency due to the minimal noise and vibration offered by its non-contacting nature. We study the present specification and performance of the low speed urban maglev system in Korea and other countries. After set up the test line, to success the "Commercialization of Korean Urban Maglev System" project, we establish proper requirement of maglev system in Korean environment on base of "Daejeon National Science Museum Maglev Establish Project".

  • Busbar made with Cu or Cu alloys and producted by Plastic manufacturing process. In this study, we research the manufacturing trend of Cu clad Al busbar for low cost and light weight which used for a electric power supply of distributing board. The objectives of this study is the manufacturing of composite busbar on electric power supply, the process and application for Cu clad Al busbar and the relation between electric properties and manufacturing operating process on contact parties.

  • This paper presents the new method of a nondestructive spot welding state inspection system using neural networks. The learning process of neural networks makes the inspection system to adapt the variable welding parameters. The inspecting process is working with on-line real-time after off-line learning process. This neural network based inspection system shows reliable results through the field test for variations of applied voltages, currents, and contact area of the welding electrode.

  • Nitrate is a common contaminant in industrial wastewater and ground water. The maximum contaminant level set by EPA for nitrate of 10 mg/L as N. In this study, nitrate was removed using bipolar ZVI packed bed electrolytic cell that maximized the contact area between each electrode and contaminants under 600 V. Also this study investigates the simultaneously deals with removal of ammonia by operating air stripping tower. In addition to the air stripping also helped to precipitate iron ions to the form of iron oxides. Bipolar ZVI packed bed electrolytic cell was also effective in removing coliform by electrical power. In the continuous experiments for the simulated wastewater (initial nitrate for 25 mg/L as N), maximum 96.3% removal of nitrate was achieved in the applied 600 V at the flow rate of 6 mL/min.

  • This paper studies on the outdoor field test facilities which are established for weather-resist and mechanical-resist property teat of composite insulator. We have established measuring and data acquisition system for various test conditions -leakage current, temperature, humidity, wind direction, wind velocity and rainfall. The merry-go-round test and salt fog test have been studied in order to evaluate non tracking property of rubber material. Especially we have checked the relationship between hydrophobicity and outdoor exposure degree by contact angle measurement.

  • This paper shows the analysis of the inductive power transfer system in conjunction with series resonant converter operating variable high frequency. Of particular interest is the sensitivity of the complete system to variations in operational frequency and parameters. In inductive power transfer system, electrical power is transferred from a primary winding in the form of a coil or track, to one or more isolated pick-up coils that may relative to the primary. The ability to transmit power without contact enables high reliability and easy maintenance that allows inductive power transfer system to be implemented in hostile environments. This technology has found application in many fields such as electric vehicles, PRT(Personal Rapid Transit) etc. The coupling between the primary and secondary is then presented to include the effects of parameter and operational frequency variation.

  • An experimental design of magnetic amplifiers and their characteristics in steady state are presented. A saturable reactor model having 2KVA capacity was designed, using Z-10 grain-oriented silicon steel which is commonly used in power transformers. Experimental and theoretical analysis show that the experimental results are in good agreement with the equal ampere-turns law. In addition to the saturable reactor, the self-saturated magnetic amplifiers of 0.4VA and 5VA capacity, using 50% Ni-Fe alloy cores having rectangular hysteresis loops were designed. Control characteristic curves of these amplifiers show high ampere-turn gain enough to be used for voltage controllers under load and non-contact magnetic switches of the rated capacity.

  • The purpose of this paper is to establish a method of design of the Ultrasonic Motor for Driving Robot Hand. This method is based on two models for the ultrasonic motor(a two dimensional elastic contact model. electric equivalent circuit). And analyzed the basic model which installed in the module to match the suitable standard. As varied external diameter, internal diameter and thickness, the proper ultrasonic motor is implemented to find a targeted resonant-frequency and torque near to designed values.

  • It is necessary for the optimum design of switching devices to calculate repulsion forces acting on the closed electric contacts flowing over-current, e.g. inrush current and overload currents. In this paper, the forces generated by currents and flux densities at the contact point when circuit breakers are in closed position are obtained by using 3D finite element method. According to the analysis, the optimum configuration of wipe springs and arc extinguishing chambers are newly designed and consequently type tests show satisfactory results.

  • This paper presents the preventive measure and the cause for field coils breaking away from the rotor, which lately occurred when No.1 hydro generator was operating in Chung-Ju Dam No.2 Hydro Power Station. In findings, we ascertained the truth of contact between rotor rim and field coils, and think that field coils will break away from the rotor because of mechanical stress according as continuous operation after completion. 1985. Therefore, we conclude that the preventive measure for such a phenomenon is that stopper should be installed between rotor rim and field coils, and bolts should be tightened because of operating characteristic however there are not the design standards for installing stopper in generator rotor internationally.
