This paper presents a calculating method of switching angle for adaptive switched reluctance motor (SRM) drive of a drill. The operation of the SRM is completely characterized by the flux linked by one phase winding which depends only on the current in that same phase winding and the rotor position. An efficiently adaptive SRM drive is possible on appropriately scheduling the commutation angles with accurate rotor position, supplied current value and speed information. An adaptive SRM drive with reduction torque ripple should be controlled by an optimized phase current control along with rotor position. Therefore, we are suggested a computing method of switching turn-on and off angles for adaptationally SRM operation with varied rotor speed and load. To probe the computing method, we have some simulation and experiment, it is shown a good result that can be computing the optimized switching angles for an electric drill motor.
This paper suggests the sensor-less speed control of PMSM (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) without the position sensor of oil-free air compressor. It estimated d and q axis back electro motive force using Back-EMF (Electro motive Force) observer to control sensor-less speed of PMSM. Also it used the method that tracks the information of rotor position and speed using PLL (Phase Locked Loop) based on estimated d and q axis Back-EMF. The sensor-less speed control of PMSM for oil air compressor application is carried out with the introduced rotor position and speed tracking method. In this paper, the experimental characterization of the sensor-less drive is provided to verify the accuracy of the estimated position and the performance of sensor-less control is analyzed by results obtained from the experiment. Moreover, the potential of PMSM sensor-less drive in industrial application such as compressor drive is also examined.
This paper proposes a hydraulic pump system that uses a variable speed SR drive and constant capacity pump. For the design of the SRM (Switched Reluctance Motor) and digital controller, base speed and rating torque are determined from the mechanical specifications of the hydraulic pump. In order to minimize the power consumption during the maintaining of preset oil-pressure, the pressure control system changes the maximum oil-pressure band and flow rate according to the motor speed. The DSP control system adjusts the oil-pressure and the speed of the SRM from the pressure sensor signal, due to conservation of power consumption by the hydraulic pump. A 2.2Kw, 12/8 pole SR motor and DSP based digital controller are designed and tested with experimental set-up. The test results indicate that the system has some good features such as high efficiency and rapid response characteristics.

In this paper, the new efficient drive control technology based on the conventional full-color electric display board image processing method is proposed. This technology can be applied to high-fidelity large size panel TV and LCD Display, and makes high-fidelity-display-drive control possible in those. The proposed drive control technology can strengthen the image processing function of the conventional technology. Also, the automatic or manual adjustment of contrast, bright, tint, color, gamma revision, etc. can help to achieve high-fidelity vision. This technology can be adopted with lower price.

The voltage-source inverters (VSI) supplying a motor drive are prone to open transistor faults. To address this issue in fault-tolerant drives applicable to electric vehicles, a new open transistor fault diagnosis (FD) method is presented in this paper. According to the proposed method, in order to define the FD index, the phase angle of the converter output current is estimated by a simple trigonometric function. The proposed FD method is adaptable, simple, capable of detecting multiple open switch faults and robust to load operational variations. Keeping the FD in mind as a mandatory part of the fault tolerant control algorithm, the FD block is applied to a five-phase converter supplying a multiphase fault-tolerant PM motor drive with non-sinusoidal unbalanced current waveforms. To investigate the performance of the FD technique, the fault-tolerant sliding mode control (SMC) of a five-phase brushless direct current (BLDC) motor is developed in this paper with the embedded FD block. Once the theory is explained, experimental waveforms are obtained from a five-phase BLDC motor to show the effectiveness of the proposed FD method. The FD algorithm is implemented on a field programmable gate array (FPGA).

Hub BLDC (Brushless Direct Current) motor is a multi-pole outer rotor-type high-efficiency electric motors and the Direct Drive Motor having permanent magnet rotor to drive shaft of the wheel, also called wheel-in motor. In this study, we design a speed controller with vector control technique using the dsPIC30f2010 16 bit micro-controller to drive Hub BLDC motor. Especially, we propose vector control method which reduce complex operation time, and design directly MOSFET inverter directly which gain high economics.
This paper presents a fuzzy predictive sliding mode control for high performance induction motor position drives. A new simplified inner-loop sliding-mode current control scheme based on a nonlinear mathematical model of an induction motor is introduced. Novel predictive fuzzy logic PI and PID controllers are used in speed and position loops, respectively. Sliding-mode current controllers and fuzzy predictive logic controllers are designed based on indirect vector control. The overall system performance is examined under different dynamic operating conditions. The performance of the drive system is robust and stable, and insensitive to parameters and operating condition variations even though non-exact system parameters are used in the implementation of the proposed controllers.

Electric vehicles (EV) and hybrid EVs (HEV) are designed and manufactured by GM, Toyota, Honda, and Hyundai motors. The propulsion system design process for EV requires integrating subsystem designs into an overall system model to maximize the performance of a given propulsion architecture. Therefore, high-power density and high-torque density are important attributes required for EV applications. To improve torque and power density, propulsion motors are designed for saturation during high-torque operation. The nonlinearity associated with core saturation is modeled by incorporating the cross-coupling inductances, which also behave nonlinearly. Furthermore, in EV environments, the battery is directly connected to the DC link, and the battery changes depending on the state of charge. It will be onerous if as many optimal current commands as different $V_{dc}$ were made. This paper presents the optimal current commands in the various operating condition and the current control technique in EV environments.

This paper presents a circuit of the quasi-resonant DC link to achieve soft-switching three phase inverter using intelligent IGBT power module. The soft-switching operation in this circuit is confirmed simulation and experimental results. Its conductive noise is measured for electrical AC motor drive as compared with that of the conventional hard switching inverter.

Due to the demand for high-output motors in the limited space between the wheels in an electric train, self-ventilating traction motors have been used for many years. periodical disassembly maintenance is necessary to remove the small quantities of dust that enter the motor from the open-air ventilation. Reducing this burden, as well as increasing efficiency and reducing noise, would benefit the next generation of moters To address these needs, KRRI is developing a fully enclosed type traction motor, a fully enclosed type traction motor with outer fans, a high-efficiency permanent-magnet synchronous motor and a direct-drive motor(DDM) as traction motors for the next generation of trains.
