Are Particulate Filtering Respirators Available in Korea Efficient for Nanoparticles? (<종설>국내 시판 방진마스크는 나노입자에 적합한가?)

  • There is widespread concern that particulate filtering respirators (PFRs) available in Korea will be efficient for nanoparticles. The purpose of this review study was to analyse research literature and recommend PFRs suitable for protection against nanoparticles. In all studies, respirators containing electret filter media (N95, P100 and FFP2, FFP3) consistently have their MPPS below 100 nm and particle penetration levels at the MPPS can vary widely, but they comply with NIOSH or EN certification criterion. Electret filtering facepieces respirators (FFRs) were found to shift in the Most-Penetrating Particle Size(MPPS) from 30-60 to 200-300 nm range after the electric charges were removed, and FFRs were above their minimum penetrations of criterion. Korean special class and first class FFRs (the same as FFP3 and FFP2, respectively) would be effcient for nanoparticles unless FFRs are removed electric charges. It is difficult to evaluate if mechanical PFRs is efficient for nanoparticles due to the lack of related materials.

Simulation of Charging Process in Forming Electret for Sensor Material (센서재료용 일렉트렛트 형성에 대전과정 시뮬레이션)

  • In order to estimate spatial charging process in the corona charging which has been used to make polymer electret, the electrical properties of polypropylene film were obtained from Thermally Stimulated Current(TSC) measurements after corona charging between knife electrode and cylinder electrode with the voltages of -5, -6, -7 and -8[kV], respectively. And then the electrostatic contour and the electric field vector were also simulated by using Finite Element Method(FEM). The edge effect around edge of knife electrode affected the electrostatic contour on surface of specimen and the electric field concentration inside specimen. The uneven charging state in the electret due to the mistake on design could be calculated and so the optimal design of corona charging device which is appropriate to various materials is come to be practicable.

The Thermal Stability of Teflon AF/FEP Double Layer Film Electret (Teflon AF/FEP 이중 필름 일렉트렛트의 열적 안정성)

  • To improve thermal stability of Teflon FEP which is the most widely used materials for electret application, Teflon AF film of 1 $\mu\textrm{m}$ thick was spin coated on FEP film and the charge storage properties were investigated. The surface potential depend on aging temperature. Thermal Stimulated Current(TSC), Atomic Force Microscopy(AFM), and Fourier Transform-Infrared Spectroscope(FT-lR) measurements were carried out. It is shown that the AF/FEP dual film have more higher electrical property and thermal stability than that FEP film have caused by charge stored at interface of AF and FEP.

  • In this paper, Electret is formed to range voltage -5[kV] to -8[kV] by corona charging in PTFE film and sensor is manufactured by method of moments in sensing infra sonic. Charges of charged film are calculated also TSC measurement and induced potential of sensing electrode according to the charges is become aware of computer simulation. Electret Infra Sonic Transducer, which is designed and manufactured according to the potential and electric field simulation in using method of moments, is proved as it is effectively. Because sensitivity that measured under 10[Hz] is that average value of sensitivity rising rate is 6.34 [dB/oct] as average value is $\pm$1 [dB/oct] range -5[kV] to -8[kV] in corona charging film. As a result, it is believed that characteristic of acquired transducer can be application of medical treatment, industry, and animal life researches and the study of noise elimination, what's more, is required.

  • 플라즈마 중합 증착기술을 이용하여 ppMMA (plasma polymerized methyl methacrylate) 및 ppS (plasma polymerized styrene) 박막을 제작하고, ppMMA를 게이트 절연층, polymer electret인 ppS를 메모리층으로 한 전계효과트랜지스터 기반 유기 메모리 소자를 제작하였다. 메모리층인 ppS의 두께를 각각 30, 60, 90 nm로 달리한 유기 메모리 소자가 C-V 및 I-V 특성에서 나타내는 히스테리시스 현상을 분석하여 메모리 특성을 평가했으며, 메모리층의 두께 변화에 따른 유기 메모리 소자의 성능을 비교분석하였다.

  • 현재, 반도체 등의 정밀 공업제품의 제조 기술의 발전에 따라서, 공기중의 미세 입자 제거 기술의 고도화가 요구되어 지고 있다. 이러한 미세 입자 제거에 사용되는 물질중 섬유층 필터는 구조가 단순하고, 여러 가지의 집진 조건에 비교적 용이하게 사용이 가능하여, 오늘날 폭넓은 분야에서 사용되어 왔다. 이러한 고성능의 포집 효율을 위한 노력으로, 섬유경을 작게하에 제작된 HEPA필터등이 이제까지의 청정공기의 생성에 널리 이용되어 왔지만, 장치를 대형화하지 않고서는 고포집효율, 저압력손실로 대량의 공기를 처리하는 것에는 한계가 있으며, 섬유경이 작게 되면, 압력손실이 증가되고, 압력손실의 증가는 동력 비용을 높이는 결과와 함께, 섬유 충진율의 분균일성등의 문제점이 발생한다.   • 본 연구에서는 열자격전류의 측정을 통해 얻은 데이터를 유한요소법을 이용하여 일렉트렛트 형성에 깊은 관련이 있는 대전 과정에 관한 시뮬레이션을 수행하였는데, 전극의 에지효과로 인한 전계의 집중 현상을 확인하였고 일렉트렛트의 불균일한 대전 상태 여부를 검증한 후 최적 설계를 도출하여 각종 센서재료의 적용에 기여할 것으로 사료된다.

  • An electret filter is composed of permanently charged electret fibers and is widely used in applications requiring high collection efficiency and low-pressure drop. In this work, the fractional collection efficiency of the filter media used in manufacturing cabin air filters was investigated by using highly monodisperse particles ranging from 0.02 to 0.6 $\mu\textrm{m}$ in diameter at three different charging states: singly charged, uncharged, and equilibrium charged. The face velocity was varied from 2.4 to 20.4 crus. It was fecund that the fractional efficiency curve fur singly charged particles shows a typical trend that the collection efficiency is minimum at about 0.3 $\mu\textrm{m}$ in diameter. The fractional efficiency of equilibrium charged particles were not severely varied with the particle diameter. The collection efficiency curve fur uncharged particles has a minimum near 0.1 $\mu\textrm{m}$ in diameter. Another experiment was conducted for a cartridge filter to examine the effect of charge depletion on the collection efficiency in a cabin air filter. The result shows that the charge depletion of the cartridge filter can significantly lower the collection efficiency.
