The Development of Rhythmic Balance Training Equipment and its Effect on Performance for Elderly

  • Objective: The aims of this study were 1) to develop easy-to-use rhythmic balance training equipment for the elderly and 2) to investigate the effect of training with the equipment on balance and physical function. Method: Twenty-one elderly individuals (age: $75.4{\pm}3.34yrs$, height: $152.07{\pm}4.81cm$, weight: $58.35{\pm}8.34kg$) participated in this study. Each participant underwent balance and physical function testing before and after 12 weeks of training with the equipment. Y-balance (i.e. dynamic balance) and one leg static balance tests were used for balance testing, and timed up- and-down-stairs and five times sit-to-stand tests were used for physical function testing. A paired t test was used to determine whether there was a significant pre- and post-training difference. Results: The rhythmic balance training equipment provided a fun and motivating training program with age-friendly music, dance movements for lower extremity strength training, and touch screen controls with simple features. Post-training left foot dynamic balance was significantly greater (p<.05), and static balance with eyes open was significantly improved (p<.05) compared to pre-training. Completion of the timed up-and-down-stairs and the five times sit-to-stand tests was significantly shorter (p<.05) compared to pre-training. Conclusion: Training using the equipment developed in this study improved balance and physical function in elderly participants.

생활체육 참여 노인이 인식하는 지도자의 이미지와 참여동기의 관계 (A Study on Relationship Between Instructor's Image Perceived by Elderly Participating in Life Sports and Participation Motive)

  • 본 연구는 지도자의 이미지와 참여동기의 관계를 알아보기 위하여 서울, 경기, 인천 지역 스포츠센터 6곳의 만 65세 이상의 노인 293명을 대상으로 연구하였으며, 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 첫째, 인구통계학적 특성에 따른 지도자의 이미지에서 성별은 지도자의 자질과 유의한 차이를 나타냈고, 연령은 지도자의 자질과 학습지도 이미지, 생활 이미지와 유의한 차이를 나타냈다. 참여종목은 지도자 이미지의 모든 하위요인과 유의한 차이를 나타냈다. 둘째, 인구통계학적 특성에 따른 참여동기에서 성별은 내적동기와 유의한 차이를 나타냈고, 연령과 참여종목은 참여동기의 모든 하위요인과 유의한 차이를 나타냈다. 셋째, 지도자 이미지는 내적동기와 외적동기에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다, 내적동기에서는 학습지도 이미지와 인간관계 이미지가 유의한 차이를 나타냈고, 외적동기는 지도자의 자질과 생활 이미지, 인간관계 이미지와 유의한 차이를 나타냈다. 따라서 본 연구의 결과, 지도자의 이미지는 노인들의 생활체육 참여 동기를 높여주는 중요한 변수임을 확인하였다.

노인의 여가참여유형에 따른 생활만족도의 (Differences in Life Satisfaction by Leisure Participation Types of the Elderly)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore a typology of leisure participation, investigate determinants of leisure participation types, and analyze differences in life satisfaction by the types of leisure participation of the elderly. The data source for this research was the 2014 Time Use Survey conducted by the Korea National Statistical office (KNSO). The statistical methods for the analysis were mean, standard deviation, ANOVA, Duncan test, cluster analysis, and logistic regression analysis. Leisure participation were classified into five types based on five categories; social activities, religious activities, media, sports, time-spending activity. The five types were named "general", "insufficient", "religious oriented", "media oriented", and sports oriented" type. Gender, health condition were identified as important determinants for the types. Life satisfaction was different according to leisure participation type of the elderly. Religious oriented type showed the highest score of life satisfaction and media oriented type showed the lowest.

노인체육 활성화를 위한 노인체육지도자의 긍정심리자본에 관한 연구 (Research on Positive Psychological Capitals of the Elderly Physical Director for the Activation of the Elderly Sports)

  • 본 연구는 노인체육지도자의 긍정심리자본이 조직성과와 직무열의 및 혁신행동에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위하여 서울, 경기, 인천 지역의 스포츠센터 및 노인체육센터 5곳의 노인체육지도자 227명을 대상으로 연구하였으며, 다음과 같은 결과를 도출하였다. 첫째, 노인체육지도자의 긍정심리자본은 조직성과의 모든 하위요인에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 노인체육지도자의 긍정심리자본은 직무열의의 모든 하위요인에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 노인체육지도자의 긍정심리자본은 혁신행동에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 본 연구의 결과, 긍정심리자본은 조직원들의 조직성과와 직무열의 및 혁신행동을 높여주는 중요한 변수임을 확인하였고 긍정심리자본이 노인체육지도자의 근무환경에 긍정적인 효과가 있다는 것을 입증한 데 큰 의의가 있다.

  • 본 연구는 노인체육지도자의 감성지능이 리더-조직원 교환관계(LMX) 및 조직시민행동에 미치는 영향을 파악하여 조직원들의 감성지능 향상을 통한 근무환경을 개선하는데 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 서울, 경기, 충남 천안 지역의 스포츠센터 및 노인체육센터 5곳의 노인체육지도자 282명을 대상으로 설문지를 배포, 회수 하여 상관관계 분석과 다중회귀분석을 실시하였고, 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 첫째, 노인체육지도자의 감성지능은 리더-조직원 교환관계(LMX)에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 노인체육지도자의 감성지능은 조직시민행동에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 노인체육지도자의 리더-조직원 교환관계(LMX)는 조직시민행동에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 본 연구의 결과, 노인체육지도자의 감성지능은 리더-조직원 교환관계(LMX)와 조직시민행동을 증진시켜주는 중요한 변수임을 확인하였고, 조직원들의 감성지능을 높이는 것이 조직의 유효성에 긍정적인 효과가 있음을 입증했다는 점에서 큰 의의가 있다고 할 수 있다.

The Effect of Exercise Commitment on the Quality of Life According to Motivation for Participation in Leisure Sports

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the elderly's motivation to participate in ball games In order to clarify the purpose of this study, leisure sports participants over the age of 20 residing in the Jeonnam region in 2020 were selected as the population. In addition, 150 males, 150 females, and 300 total subjects were selected using the convenient sampling method. In addition, as a survey tool, a questionnaire was used centering on the motivation for participation in leisure sports, exercise commitment, and quality of life, and the data collected using this was processed statistically according to the purpose of analysis using SPSS 20.0 version. The results obtained through this research process are as follows. First, it was found that the motivation to participate in leisure sports has a partial effect on exercise commitment. Second, it was found that the motivation to participate in leisure sports partially affects the quality of life. Third, it was found that the commitment to exercise in leisure sports has a partial effect on the quality of life.

Development of Core Strength Training Equipment and Its Effect on the Performance and Stability of the Elderly in Activities of Daily Living

  • Objective: This study aimed, first, to develop core strength training equipment with elderly-friendly, easy-to-use features and, second, to investigate the effect of core strength training using the equipment on the performance and stability of the elderly in activities of daily living. Method: In this study, we developed training equipment with a stability ball that can be used for performing core strength exercises in the elderly. Twenty-three elderly subjects (age: $77.87{\pm}6.95years$, height: $149.78{\pm}6.95cm$, and weight: $60.57{\pm}7.21kg$) participated in this study. The subjects performed the core strength training exercise with 16 repetitions for 8 weeks (2 repetitions per week). Performance in activities of daily living was assessed by using the Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB), a test of going up and down 4 stairs, and one-leg static balance test. Stability was quantified as changes in the center of pressure (COP) and C90 area. Results: With the core strength equipment, trunk core strength exercise could be performed by pulling or pushing a rope with 2 hands on the stability ball. During the task, the tension in the rope was manipulated by a motor connected to the rope and the COP of the subject was measured by 4 load cells mounted in the equipment. Our results showed that the SPPB score was significantly higher (p < .05), the time to complete the "going up and down 4 stairs" test was significantly shorter (p < .05), and one-leg static balance statistically improved under an eyes-open condition (p < .05) after as compared with before the core strength training. The changes in the COP in the anteroposterior and mediolateral directions, and C90 area were significantly lower in the posttest (p <. 05) than in the pretest. Conclusion: The core strength training exercise using the equipment developed in the present study improved the performance and stability of the elderly in activities of daily living.

댄스스포츠가 노인의 생리적 지수, 우울, 삶의 질에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Dance Sports on Physiological Variables, Depression and Quality of Life in the Elderly)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of dance sports on physiological variables, depression and quality of life in the elderly. The study was performed on a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design for 47 elderly, who were conveniently assigned to experimental group and control group. The experimental group were selected from D-welfare facility and the control group were selected from G-elderly church club in G-city. The data were collected from April 2, 2001 to June 30, 2001, and analyzed by frequency, $x^2$-test, t-test and paired t-test using SAS/PC program. The results of this study were summarized as follows; 1. The first hypothesis, "the experimental group would have improved physiological variables than the control group.". 1-1. The hypothesis, "the experimental group would have lower blood pressure than the control group" was rejected. 1-2. The hypothesis, "the experimental group would have lower heart rate than the control group" was supported(t=-2.031, p=0.048). 1-3. The hypothesis, "the experimental group would have higher peripheral vessel $O_2$ Saturation than the control group" was rejected. 2. The second hypothesis, "the experimental group would have lower depression score than the control group" was supported(t=2.832, p=0.006). 3. The third hypothesis, "the experimental group would have higher quality of life score than the control group" was supported(t=2.604, p=0.012). After 12 weeks of dance sports program, it was shown that the program was effective to improve the physiological varibles, reduce depression and improve quality of life.

스포츠브래지어 착용실태 -40~50대 중년여성을 중심으로- (A Survey on the Wearing Conditions of Sports Brassiere -Focus on Women in Their 40s-50s-)

  • This study provides basic reference data to develop sports brassieres appropriate for women in their forties and fifties. The study focused on analyzing the exercise status, brassiere-wearing conditions, purchase conditions, preferred design and functionality by age as well as exercise strength based on 393 questionnaires. Middle-aged women favorite exercises included running, yoga and golfing; in addition the most important purpose to exercises was healthcare. The largest number of respondents exercised once to three times a week for 3 years or longer. The analysis on sports brassiere-wearing conditions by exercise strength showed that those who favor intense exercise tended to wear sports brassieres more frequently. In addition, many complained about breast-shaking and an unsatisfactory shape when they wore a sports brassiere. The analysis on purchase conditions showed that increased interest in intense sports led to more use of specialized sports shops. The analysis of the design and functionality preference showed that increased interest in intense sports increased interest in a body-wrapping sports brassiere design. The most frequently required functions also included the prevention of breast-shaking and a fixed brassiere-position.
