  • Various kinds of contaminant are generated from many kinds of interior construction materials, furniture and life articles. People of today living indoor most of the time are exposed to these kinds of contaminant. In this connection, people are exerting their efforts to reduce the occurrence of contaminant from the interior finish materials. And it is the actual condition that research is being actively made on the method of reducing contaminant by performing bake-out for newly constructed housings. Bake-out is the method of temporarily increasing the generation of the harmful contaminant quantity including VOCs and Formaldehyde emitting from construction materials or finish materials by increasing the interior temperature of the newly constructed buildings or improved or repaired buildings, and then removing it by mobilizing ventilation system. In this study, the researcher measured the effect of reduced concentration according to ventilation or non-ventilation of the newly constructed but not yet resident public housings during the bake-out in order to grasp the effect of reduced interior air contaminant according to the elapse of timeat the time of bake-out.

소자 구조에 따른 형광 OLED의 Impedance 특성 (Impedance Characteristics of Fluorescent OLED with Device Structure)

  • To study the impedance characteristics of a fluorescent OLED according to the device structure, we fabricated Device 1 using ITO / NPB / $Alq_3$ / Liq / Al, Device 2 using ITO / 2-TNATA / NPB / $Alq_3$ / Liq / Al, and Device 3 using ITO / 2-TNATA / NPB / SH-1:BD / $Alq_3$ / Liq / Al. The current density and luminance decreased with an increasing number of layers of the organic thin films in the order of Device 1, 2, 3, whereas the current efficiency increased. From the Cole-Cole plot at a driving voltage of 6 V, the maximum impedance values of Devices 1, 2, and 3 were respectively 51, 108, and $160{\Omega}$ just after device fabrication. An increase in the impedance maximum value is a phenomenon caused by the charge mobility and the resistance between interfaces. With the elapse of time after the device fabrication, the shape of the Cole-Cole plot changed to a form similar to 0 or a lower voltage due to the degradation of the device. As a result, we were able to see that an impedance change in an OLED reflects the characteristics of the degradation and the layer.

환기량 변화에 따른 신축공동주택의 실내공기질 개선효과 검토 (The Effect on Indoor Air Quality Improvement by Ventilation Rate in Newly Built Apartment)

  • The recent indoor air quality problem in a newly-built apartment house is resulted from the improvement of airtightness performance and the use of the building material contained harmful chemical substances. As a result, these cause indoor air quality gradually to become worse and the harmful effect on occupant health called Sick House Syndrome. The most effective solution to improve the indoor air quality is to encourage the use of green building material. However, if the house is built with general building material, ventilation with outdoor air is alternative to dilute the pollutant concentration. The purpose of this re-search is to find optimum ventilation time in a newly-built apartment house at which the ventilatoris installed. It is found that the HCHO and toluene concentrations are remarkably decreased with the elapse of ventilation time and the concentration reduction rate is increased with increment of air change rate after one hour after operating the ventilator.

절리면의 응력확대계수가 파괴인성보다 작은 암반사면의 진행성 파괴 (Progressive Failure of a Rock Slope by the Subcritical Crack Growth of Asperities Along Joints)

  • 암석파괴역학과 파괴인성 이하의 응력상태에서 균열이 발생하고 성장하는 특성을 고려하여 암반사면의 진행성 파괴를 검토하였다. 굴착이 종료된 암반사면은 응력이 거의 변하지 않은 조건이지만, 시간이 경과함에 따라 절리면 내 미소한 접점에서 파괴가 발생하고 파괴된 접점의 수효가 증가함에 따라 절리면이 파괴되고, 파괴된 절리면이 많아져 사면이 파괴되는 진행성파괴 현상을 수치해석적으로 확인하였다. 따라서 암반사면의 진행성 파괴는 파괴인성보다 낮은 응력상태에 있는 암반 절리면 내 미소한 접점에서 시간의 경과에 따라 발생한 균열이 성장하여 사면을 파괴시키는 것으로 분석되었다.

집중호우로 인한 OO터널 사갱 붕괴 원인 분석 및 대책에 관한 연구 (A Study of Analysis and Countermeasure of the Collapsed inclined shaft by a Heavy Rain)

  • In August 2002, side wall of OO tunnel, at the Bonghwa, Kungbuk province, Korea, was collapsed by abruptly applied heavy soil and water pressure to side wall from a inclined shaft when there was a heavy rain. These days, Inclined shaft is used for the purpose of reducing construction time, using ventilation system, using the out of carrying equipment and mucking when we construct tunnel in the world. Recently constructed tunnel has the source of inclined shafts, but the more time elapse, we lose the source of the inclined shaft such as exact position, condition, and the fact that whether inclined shaft is exist or not. Therefore, this study inspected the interior's appearance, analyzed structure to evaluate the reason of collapsing side wall and this study also performed the repairing work. Finally, we show improving maintenance method to prevent that similar accident that might be happened.

박테리아 셀룰로오스의 생산 및 개질 (Production of Bacterial Cellulose and Its Modification)

  • The bacterial celluloses are very different in its physical, chemical and morphological structures compared to wood cellulose. These fibers have many unique properties that are potentially and commercially beneficial. This study was aimed to elucidate the production of bacterial celluloses and to improve their physical properties by chemical pretreatment. Bacterial celluloses produced by static culture had gel-like pellicle structure. The pellicle thickness was increased with the increasing time, and its layer was about 1.8cm after one-month incubation. The pellicles extruded from the cells of Acetobacter had a non-crystalline structure during initial growing stages, gradually getting crystaliyzed with the incubation time elapse, and eventually fumed to the cellulose I crystals. Young's modulus of bacterial cellulose sheet was increased with increasing NaOH concentration, and resulted in the highest at 5% NaOH concentration. Similar results with NaClO3 pretreatment can be observed. Too concentrated alkali solutions induced the destruction of cellulose fibrils and changed the mechanical properties of the sheets. These alkaline pretreatment have removed non-cellulosic components(NCC) from the bacterial cellulose, and enhanced inter-abrillar bonding by direct close contact among cellulosic fibrils.

일본잎갈나무(Larix kaempferi) 조림지의 간벌 후 시간경과에 따른 서식환경과 소형 설치류 개체군 특성 (Differences in Habitat Environment and Characteristics of Small Rodent Populations with Time Elapse Among Thinned Forest Stands in Japanese larch (Larix kaempferi) Plantations)

  • 본 연구는 경상북도 봉화군 장군봉 일대의 일본잎갈나무 조림지에서 간벌 후 시간경과에 따른 서식환경과 소형 설치류 개체군 특성의 변화를 파악하기 위해 실시되었다. 간벌지와 대조구의 서식환경은 교목 수와 관목 수, 상층 피도, 중층 피도, 암석 피도, 수목잔존물 수에서 임분 간 유의한 차이를 보였다. 소형 설치류의 포획 결과, 등줄쥐와 흰넓적다리붉은쥐, 대륙밭쥐, 다람쥐 등 4종이 포획되었으며, 대조구보다 간벌지에서 더 많은 개체수가 포획되었다. 이 중 등줄쥐와 흰넓적다리붉은쥐의 성비와 연령비를 분석한 결과, 두 종 모두 수컷의 비율은 간벌 3년차 임분에서 가장 높았으며 성숙개체와 미성숙개체의 비율은 임분 간 차이가 크지 않았다. 이와 같은 차이는 간벌지와 대조구의 서식환경과 밀접한 관련이 있는 것으로 생각되며, 일본잎갈나무 조림지의 간벌은 하층 식생의 발달과 수목잔존물의 증가로 소형 설치류에 더 적합한 서식환경을 제공하는 것으로 판단된다. 따라서 간벌 이후 수목잔존물의 존치와 중층 및 하층 식생의 유도를 통한 산림관리는 소형 설치류의 다양성 유지에 필요할 것으로 생각된다.

The Spatially Closed Universe

  • The general world model for homogeneous and isotropic universe has been proposed. For this purpose, we introduce a global and fiducial system of reference (world reference frame) constructed on a (4+1)-dimensional space-time, and assume that the universe is spatially a 3-dimensional hypersurface embedded in the 4-dimensional space. The simultaneity for the entire universe has been specified by the global time coordinate. We define the line element as the separation between two neighboring events on the expanding universe that are distinct in space and time, as viewed in the world reference frame. The information that determines the kinematics of the geometry of the universe such as size and expansion rate has been included in the new metric. The Einstein's field equations with the new metric imply that closed, flat, and open universes are filled with positive, zero, and negative energy, respectively. The curvature of the universe is determined by the sign of mean energy density. We have demonstrated that the flat universe is empty and stationary, equivalent to the Minkowski space-time, and that the universe with positive energy density is always spatially closed and finite. In the closed universe, the proper time of a comoving observer does not elapse uniformly as judged in the world reference frame, in which both cosmic expansion and time-varying light speeds cannot exceed the limiting speed of the special relativity. We have also reconstructed cosmic evolution histories of the closed world models that are consistent with recent astronomical observations, and derived useful formulas such as energy-momentum relation of particles, redshift, total energy in the universe, cosmic distance and time scales, and so forth. The notable feature of the spatially closed universe is that the universe started from a non-singular point in the sense that physical quantities have finite values at the initial time as judged in the world reference frame. It has also been shown that the inflation with positive acceleration at the earliest epoch is improbable.

Effect of the recrystallization of ice on the freeze concentration process of milk in the lab-scale operation

  • This study was carried out to develop the efficient freeze concentration process of milk through controlling the recrystallisation phenomena of ice. Freeze-concentration was progressed with multi-stage freeze concentrator and there was artificial temperature control to induce recrystallisation phenomena. In each stage of freeze concentration process, the regular recrystallisation time was fixed as 1, 2, 4 and 8 hr to compare the solute increment, yield, brix and ice-crystal size among experimental conditions. Higher concentration as total solids was observed due to the elapse of recrystallisation time, and the maximum total solids in final products: 32.67% was obtained at the ripening time of 8 hr in two-stage process. This result was excessively high concentration comparing to the existing researches and presented the possibilities of milk freeze concentration in the dairy industry, The results of brix and ice-crystal size showed the direct correlation with the recrystallisation time that meant the increased processing time showed the increment of brix and ice-crystal size. Obtained results were numerically modelled to predict the progress of concentration in the industrial process and all of them had fairly high R2 of determination. Therefore, we regarded that these numerical models could be utilized for the development of efficient technology in industrial freeze concentration process.

치면열구전색제 도포 후 광중합 할 때까지의 경과시간이 전색제 침투에 미치는 영향 (EFFECT OF TIME ELAPSED FROM APPLICATION TO CURING ON THE PENETRATION OF SEALANT)

  • 치면열구전색제 도포 후 시간에 따른 열구 내 침투율을 알아보고자 발치된 소구치 192개를 이용하여 전색제 도포 후 광중합 할 때까지 경과시간 3초, 5초, 10초, 20초별로 침투율을 비교 분석하였다. 여기에 추가적으로 상악과 하악, filled sealant와 unfilled sealant군으로 나누어 시간대별로 침투율에 차이가 있는지도 비교분석하였다. 그 결과 시간이 경과할수록, filled sealant군보다 unfilled sealant군에서, 상악보다는 하악에서 전색제의 침투율이 증가하였다. 이상의 결과에서 임상에서 치면열구전색을 시행할 때 이 결과를 임상적 지침으로 적용하면 유용하리라고 여겨진다.
