최근 우리나라는 이상기후에 의한 국지성 호우의 빈도가 잦아지며 홍수피해가 증가하고 있다. 지난 2017년 7월 16일 충북지역에서 발생한 집중호우의 재현기간을 산정한 결과 괴산댐 상류지역에서 지속기간 2시간 기준 약 1,524년 빈도의 강우로 추정되었고, 당시 괴산댐 최고수위는 EL.137.60 m까지 상승하여 댐마루 높이(EL.137.65 m)까지 5 cm의 여유 밖에 없었다. 1957년 이후 62년 동안 운영된 괴산댐은 유역의 수문량 증가로 인한 대책마련이 필요하고, 단일 목적 댐인 발전전용 댐으로 개발되어 홍수조절 효과가 작으며, 별도의 홍수조절을 위한 치수시설물이 존재하고 있지 않아 상하류 지역 주민의 안전성 확보를 위한 신속한 의사결정을 위하여 효율화된 운영방안 마련이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 홍수 예보시 신속한 의사결정을 목적으로 강우 매트릭스를 구성하고 각 조건별 댐 최고 수위를 사전에 산정하여 조견표를 작성한 후 상황 발생시 신속하게 조건에 해당하는 수위를 찾는 방식의 댐 운영방안을 제시하였다.

Objectives : The aims of this study were to exploring the therapeutic effect of Imperatae Rhizoma Extract(IRE) on Asthma. Methods : To investigate biological modulation activities of IRE, we conducted the cell-based assay whether IRE could regulate T helper 2 cells activity with EL4 T cells and mouse splenocytes, and followed animal study to conform the efficacy of their therapeutic potential on OVA-induced asthmatic mouse. Results : In cell study, IRE suppress the nuclear translocation of GATA binding protein-3 protein in phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate/Ionomycin-stimulated EL4 T cells and Interleukine(IL)-4, IL-5 and IL-13 production in splenocytes at concentration dependent manner. In animal study, IRE-treated groups both 100mg/ml and 200mg/ml improve airway hypersensitibility reaction(AHR) response to methacholine about 30% and 40% with positive control group. Peritoneal blood analysis reveal that eosinophil number and ovalbumin-specific IgE is reduced by IRE treatment. Cell number of eosinophil is also reduced in bronchoalveolar lavage of IRE group like to peritoneal cell and real time-polymerase chain reaction data show that expression levels of IL-4, IL-5 and IL-13 were down regulated in lung tissue. Finally, histological analysis indicate that IRE protect the bronchial tissue damages through the accumulation of inflammatory cells and collagen, and these effect may be cause by interfering Th2 cells activity. Conclusions : Our data represent that IRE potentiates therapeutic activities to the allergic diseases such as asthma by regulating Th2 cells differentiation.

Rhomobifoline and 5,6-dehydrolupanine were isolated for the frist time from the leaves and stems of A. foetida L. indigenous to Saudil Arabia. In addition, five other alkaloids, previously identified in A, foetidia L., namely N-methylcytisine, sparteine, anagyrine, lupanine and cytisine, were isolated. The isolated alkaloids were characterized by UV, $^1-NMR,{\;}^{13}H-NMR,{\;}^{13}C-NMR{\;}and{\;}Mass{\;}spectral{\;}data.{\;}^{13}C-NMR$ data of rhombifoline and 5,6-dehydroupanine are reported for the first time.

The chemical behaviours of 4-methyl-2-oxo-2H-benzopyran-7-yl oxoacetyl hydrazine (2) towards some different reagents such as anhydride compounds, aromatic aldehydes, carb on disulphide, and nitrous acid yielded the corresponding pathalazine derivatives (3, 4, 5), hydrazone derivative (6), 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivative (7, 8, 9) and acid azide (10) respectively. Treatmen of 10 with absolute alcohols, amines and ethyl amino acid ester gave the corresponding carbamate derivative (11), substituted urea derivative (12) and ethyl substituted alkyl acetate (13) respectively. The biological activity of some synthesized compounds was evaluated.

Jaceidin, Jaceidin-7-O-methylether and quercetin were isolated from-Juniperus phoenicea L. alcoholic extract, however, Sequoiaflavone was isolated from Cupressus semperiverns L. In addition, the alcoholic extracts of both plants were found to contain also kaempferol-3-O-rhamnoside, quercetrin, myricitrin, cupressuflavone. The chemical identities of the isolated compounds were established using UV, IR, $^1H-and\;^{13}C-NMR$ spectroscopy.

In this paper we establish some new identities involving Stirling numbers of both kinds. These identities are obtained via Riodan arrays with a variable x. Some well-known identities are obtained as special cases of the new identities for the specific number x.

A number of microorganisms have been screened for growth on sunflower oil as a sale carbon source for production of useful chemicals. Rhizopus stolonifer NRRL 1478 was found to transform the lipid contents of sunflower oil into dodecyl ${\beta}$-D-glucopyranoside and dodecanedioic acid in 15 and 25% yield respectively. The produced compounds were isolated and purified by column chromatography and its chemical identity were established using MS, IR, $^1H\;and\;^{13}C\;NMR$ spectroscopy.

The aqueous ethanolic whole plant extract of Rosa arabica was found to contain the new natural dimeric phenolic compound, ellagic acid 3,3'-dimethyl ether $4-O-{\alpha}-rhamnopyranoside$, 9, along with ten known phenolic metabolites (1-8, 10 and 11). Structures of all compounds (1-11) were established by routine methods of analysis and confirmed by FAB-MS, $^1H\;and\;^{13}C$ NMR spectral analysis.

A novel chlorinated diterpene quinone methide; chlorosmaridione (7-chloro-11-hydroxy-abeita-7,9(11),13-triene-6,12-diode) was isolated from petroleum ether extract of the stems of Rosemarinus officinalis L. growing in Egypt. In addition, ${\beta}-sitosterol$, stigmasterol, lupeol acetate, ${\alpha}-amyrin,\;{\beta}-amyrin$, lupeol, acetyloleanolic acid, acetylursolic acid taxodione, horminone, and cryptotanshinone were also identified. Chemical structures of the isolated compounds have been elucidated on the bases of physical, chemical, and spectral data including IR, UV, MS, 1D-and 2D-NMR spectra.

This paper deals with the stochastic analysis of a three-states semi-Markov reliability model. Using both the maximum likelihood and Bayes procedures, the parameters included in this model are estimated. Next, assuming that the lifetime and repair time are generalized exponential random variables, the reliability function of this system is obtained. Then, the distribution of the first passage time of this system is discussed. Finally, some of the obtained results are compared with those available in the literature.
