  • Purpose: The performance of global major airports is evaluated and several research questions are examined relative to the measures characterizing airport performance. Methods: The two-stage internal structure of airport performance is considered by decomposing it into physical operations and revenue generation. In the physical operations stage, operating costs, number of runways, terminal area and number of employees are used as inputs, while passenger throughput, cargo throughput and aircraft movements are taken as outputs. Subsequently, in the revenue generation stage, the outputs from the preceding stage are taken as inputs, while revenue is used as output. Results: Based upon this two-stage modeling of airport performance, a multiplicative two-stage network data envelopment analysis model is employed to calculate the overall and stage efficiencies of 59 airports using the recent data in the 2014 Airport Benchmarking Report published by the Air Transport Research Society. Several internal and external factors are also considered such as airport size, airport geographical location, proportion of international passengers, ownership (listed or not) and management style, and statistical analysis is performed to examine their impacts on airport performance. Conclusion: It is shown that the airports exhibit statistically significant difference across regions, and also some statistically significant factors affecting airport performance are identified.

  • In this study, the establishment strategies of Military Standardization Information System and Integrated Database(DB) based on standardization information are provided. The establishment strategies introduced here are based on the appliable common(commercial and military) classification of specifications/standards. The common(commercial and military) classification of specifications/standards adapted in this study can be constructed through mapping by 'grouping' between the MS(Military Specification/Standards) and KS(Korean industry Standards) to increase efficiency. In detail, the establishment of Integrated Database(DB) based on standardization information provides the various channel of interactive communication among specifications/standards. Additionally, standardization information systems provide the basis of the integrated specifications/standards converged between the commercial and military sector.

  • Parallel and distributed simulation is concerned with the efficient execution of large-scale discrete event simulation models on multiprocessors and distributed platforms. After the development of WWW, many efforts in the parallel and distributed simulation have been made for modeling, particularly building simulation languages and creating model libraries that can be assembled and executed over WWW. However, web-based parallel and distributed simulation is restricted by heterogeneous computing environments. Recently, the advent of XML and web services technology has made these efforts enter upon a new phase. Especially, the web services as a distributed information technology have demonstrated powerful capabilities for scalable interoperation of heterogeneous systems. This paper aims to develop and evaluate the parallel and distributed simulation using the web services technology. In particular, a prototype multi-pass simulation framework is implemented using Java-based web services technology. It focuses on the efficiency of multi-pass simulation used for optimization through the distribution of simulation replication to several simulation service providers. The development of parallel and distributed simulation using web services will help solve efficiently large-scale problems and also guarantee interoperability among heterogeneous networked systems.

  • [ $ulcorner$ ]Cost-Effectiveness Analysis$\lrcorner$ has been wifely used to evaluate economic efficiency of R&D projects, but most of cost-effectiveness evaluation systems have some problems such as systematic method for setting and evaluating cost factors, estimation of single effect on each R&D project, and estimation of cross effects among R&D projects. To solve these problems, we have designed a new evaluation indicator called a $ulcorner$Cost-Cross Effect Integration Indicator$lrcorner$ including cross effects developed in this research. The major research findings are summarized as follows : (1) $ulcorner$Coist Estimation Model$lrcorner$, which estimates the cost factors divided into two classes of assembly product and system product and then integrates the total cost values, has been designed. (2) A new method for estimating parameters of cross effects among R&D projects has been developed. (3) $ulcorner$Cross Effects Estimation Model$lrcorner$ to estimate multi-effects and cross effects by completion time among several projects has been designed. (4) $ulcorner$Integration Estimation Indicator$lrcorner$ for setting priority on a project group has been extracted by combination of total cost value and total effect value.

  • In cloud computing era, an increasing number of resource-constrained users outsource their data to cloud servers. Due to the untrustworthiness of cloud servers, it is important to ensure the integrity of outsourced data. However, most of existing solutions still have challenging issues needing to be addressed, such as the identity privacy protection of users, the traceability of users, the supporting of dynamic user operations, and the publicity of auditing. In order to tackle these issues simultaneously, in this paper, we propose a traceable dynamic public auditing scheme with identity privacy preserving for cloud storage. In the proposed scheme, a single user, including a group manager, is unable to know the signer's identity. Furthermore, our scheme realizes traceability based on a secret sharing mechanism and supports dynamic user operations. Based on the security and efficiency analysis, it is shown that our scheme is secure and efficient.

  • Since the late 1980s, an Increasing number of neural network models have been studied in the areas of financial prediction and analysis. The purpose of this study is to Investigate the possibility of building a neural network model that is able to construct a profitable trading strategy in the Korean Stock Market. This study classifies stocks into the future market winners and losers from the publicly available accounting information and builds portfolios based on this information. The performances of the winner portfolios and the loser portfolios are compared with each other and against the market index. The empirical result of this research is consistent with the traditional fundamental analysis where it is claimed that the financial statements contain firm values that may not be fully reflected In stock prices without delay. Despite the supporting empirical evidence. It is somewhat Inconclusive as to whether or not the abnormal return in excess of market return is the result of the extra knowledge obtained in the neural network models derived from the historical accounting data. This research attempts to open another avenue using neural network models for searching for evidence against market efficiency where statistics and intuition have played a major role.

  • WiBro (Wireless Broadband Internet) system is going to be commercialized before long. The high portable internet system is abie to be connected to the high-speed internet using 2.3 CHz frequency bandwidth, anytime and anywhere. An effective scheduling for UCS, rtPS. nrtPS and BE requiring different QoS, which are service types of the WiBro, is necessary to increase the efficiency of radio channels that arc the limiting resource. This paper researches an uplink scheduling that plays a role in assignment for the radio channels from subscribers to base stations. The suggested scheduling provides priorities With each service type considering QoS of them but reserves some bandwidth for lower priory services. After deciding effective amount of bandwidth for reservation, we suggest analytical result on mean delayed time of packet transmission for each terminal, transmission rate for the data, and capacity for uplink. This research can be used as basic data for the standard in the high portable internet system and as data to predict the capacity of base stations.

  • Several constraints in machine duplication cost, machining capability, cell space capacity, intercell moves and exceptional elements(EEs) are main problems that prevent achieving the goal of ideal Cellular Manufacturin System (CMS) environment. Minimizing intercell part traffics and EEs are the main objective of the cell formation problem as it's a critical point that improving production efficiency. Because the intercell moves could be changed according to the sequence of operation, it should be considered in assigning parts and machines to machine cells. This paper presents a method that eliminates EEs under the constraints of machine duplication cost and cell space capacity attaining two goals of minimizing machine duplications and minimizing intercell moves simultaneously. Developing an algorithm that calculates the machine duplications by cell-machine incidence matrix and part-machine incidence matrix, and calculates the exact intercell moves considering the sequence of operation. Based on the number of machine duplications and exact intercell moves, the goal programming model which satisfying minimum machine duplications and minimum intercell moves is developed. A linear programming model is suggested that could calculates more effectively without damaging optimal solution. A numerical example is provided to illustrate these methods.

  • Process monitoring has been emphasized for the monitoring of complex system such as chemical processing industries to achieve the efficiency enhancement, quality management, safety improvement. Recently, ICA (Independent Component Analysis) based MSPC (Multivariate Statistical Process Control) was widely used in process monitoring approaches. Moreover, DICA (Dynamic ICA) has been introduced to consider the system dynamics. However, the existing approaches show the limitation that their performances are strongly dependent on the statistical distributions of control variables. To improve the limitation, we propose a novel approach for process monitoring by integrating DICA and LOF (Local Outlier Factor). In this paper, we aim to improve the fault detection rate with the proposed method. LOF detects local outliers by using density of surrounding space so that its performance is regardless of data distribution. Therefore, the proposed method not only can consider the system dynamics but can also assure robust performance regardless of the statistical distributions of control variables. Comparison experiments were conducted on the widely used benchmark dataset, Tennessee Eastman process (TE process), and showed the improved performance than existing approaches.
