When negative electron in x-ray tube is accelerated in to a high speed and then the currency of the electron is blocked by the target, x-ray happens by the conversion of the energy. The real area where the fast accelerated electron collides to a target area is called actual focal spot. When the string focused size is observed at the central ray side, where the direction x-ray comes out, the size seems to be reduced. This focus is called effective focal spot. According to radiation angle of x-rays tube, the degree of the negative pole side presents higher value than inclination, the amount of exposed radiation that patient receives differs by the angle of positive pole, which means effective focal spot is the variable. This paper presents the correlation between size of effective focal spot and amount of exposed radiation to the patient by it, and effective research for homogenized dose dispersion by the size of effective focal spot. In conclusion, following the focal size, effective range which was -8cm ~ 0 cm on average, was found and average dose rate was 0.019 R/min. Through this range, for patients with small radiation exposure, image with good density and resolution in aspect of diagnosing will be able to be obtained.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the mount of relief of human solar heat load and thermal comfort in outdoor environment in summer, Six different types of sites, T garden and its neighboring area in Japan, were selected as the experiment sites. The experiments were conducted from 22 to 29 August, 1994 to find the relationship between climatic conditions and human responses, Climatic conditions, subjects's thermal sensation and skin temperature were measured. Radiant heat exchange on the human body was estimated on the basis of the measured air and surface temperature and solar radiation. Thermal index Operative Temperature and New Effective Temperature was modified with the effect of the radiant heat exchange. Human thermal comfort and skin temperature is affected by the solar radiation and the sky factor in an outdoor environment. The effect of tree shade was verified on thermal comfort, The mount of relief of human solar heat load is relation to the existence of shade a solar radiation and the sky factor. The urban garden is one of the effective design element in an urban environmental planning.
Dose optimization for Radioactive Occupational Personal (ROP) is an important subject in nuclear and radiation safety field. The geometric environment of a nuclear facility is complex and the work area is radioactive, so traditional navigation model and radioactive data field cannot form an effective environment model for dose assessment and dose optimization. The environment model directly affects dose assessment and indirectly affects dose optimization, this is an urgent problem needed to be solved. Therefore, this paper focuses on an environment model used for Dose Assessment and Dose Optimization (DA&DO). We designed a multi-layer radiation field coupling modeling method, and then explored the influence of the environment model to DA&DO by virtual simulation. Then, a simulation test is done, the multi-layer radiation field coupling model for nuclear facilities is demonstrated to be effective for dose assessment and dose optimization through the experiments and analysis.

Naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORM) in building materials are main sources of external radiation exposure to the general public. The objective of this study was to assess external radiation dose in Korean dwellings due to NORM in concrete walls. Reference room model for dose assessment was made by analyzing room structure and housing scale of Korean dwellings. In addition, dose assessments were made for varying room sizes. Absorbed doses to air and effective dose rates were calculated using radiation transport code MCNPX. Assuming a reference room of $3{\times}4{\times}2.8m^3$, absorbed dose rates in air were 0.80, 0.97, 0.08 nGy $h^{-1}$ per Bq $kg^{-1}$ for uranium series, thorium series, and $^{40}K$, respectively. Effective dose rates were 0.57, 0.69, 0.058 nSv $h^{-1}$ per Bq $kg^{-1}$, respectively. Radiation dose resulting from concrete of ceiling and floor increased with room area while radiation dose from concrete of walls decreased with room area. Therefore, total radiation doses were almost the same for the varying room area from 5 to $30m^2$. Effective dose in Korean dwellings was calculated based on measurement data of NORM concentration in concrete and occupancy fraction of Korean population by location. Annual effective dose was 0.59 mSv assuming that indoor occupancy fraction was 0.89 and concentrations of uranium series, thorium series and $^{40}K$ were 26, 39, 596 Bq $kg^{-1}$, respectively. Finally, annual effective dose in Korean dwellings can be calculated by the following equation: Effective dose=indoor occupancy fraction${\times}8760\;h\;y^{-1}{\times}(0.57C_U+0.69C_{Th}+0.058C_K)$.
Background: In case of radiation emergencies, internal exposure monitoring for the members of public will be required to confirm internal contamination of each individual. In-vivo monitoring technique using portable gamma spectrometer can be easily applied for internal exposure monitoring in the vicinity of the on-site area. Materials and Methods: In this study, minimum detectable doses (MDDs) for $^{134}Cs$, $^{137}Cs$, and $^{131}I$ were calculated adjusting minimum detectable activities (MDAs) from 50 to 1,000 Bq to find out the optimal in-vivo counting condition. DCAL software was used to derive retention fraction of Cs and I isotopes in the whole body and thyroid, respectively. A minimum detect-able level was determined to set committed effective dose of 0.1 mSv for emergency response. Results and Discussion: We found that MDDs at each MDA increased along with the elapsed time. 1,000 Bq for $^{134}Cs$ and $^{137}Cs$, and 100 Bq for $^{131}I$ were suggested as optimal MDAs to provide in-vivo monitoring service in case of radiation emergencies. Conclusion: In-vivo monitoring program for emergency response should be designed to achieve the optimal MDA suggested from the present work. We expect that a reduction of counting time compared with routine monitoring program can achieve the high throughput system in case of radiation emergencies.
The radiation property of a Tonpilz transducer is influenced by the structural variables of the transducer. In this study, with respect to a single mode Tonpilz transducer, the radiation patterns were calculated for different head mass geometries of the same effective radiation area. The shapes of the head mass analyzed were the most popular circular, regular triangular, square, regular hexagonal and regular octagonal types, and radiation pattern equations were derived for each of the head mass shapes. Based on the derived equations, radiation patterns in accordance with the shape and size of the head mass were calculated and the results were compared with each other. Validity of the calculation results were confirmed by means of finite element analysis.

Purpose : This study identified knowledge, attitudes and behavior for radiation safety management of dental hygiene student. And to provide basic data for the development of effective education program for safety management for radiation protection. Methods : A questionnaire survey of questionnaires was conducted on the second and third grade dental hygiene students at three - year college in 'A' area of Gyeongnam province. The questionnaire of 37 items was used to investigate knowledge and attitude about radiation protection. The collected data were analyzed using frequency analysis, mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA and pearson's correlation Analysis using the SPSS 21.0 program. Result : Results obtained from this study are as follows. 1. Knowledge level of radiation safety management by general characteristics showed statistically significant difference. 2. Radiation safety education knowledge score was higher in the case of radiation safety education(t=1.660, p<.05). 3. The radiation safety management attitude score was a statistically significant difference between the groups according to 'achievement' (F=1.660, p<.001). In the case of 'radiation protection facilities', there was a statistically significant difference between groups according to the recognition of radiation protection facilities (F=6.001, p<.001). 4. As a result of investigating the relationship between radiation safety management knowledge and attitude, the higher the knowledge level of radiation safety management, the higher the attitude(p<.001). Conclusion : Therefore, radiation safety management education should be organized systematically and it is required to improve not only safety management knowledge, attitude level but also action level.
Beta ray $(^{90}Sr+^{90}Y)$ absorbed dose at tissue surface was measured from the distance of 30cm by use of extrapolation chamber. In the measurement, following factors were considered: effective area of collecting electrode, polarity effect, ion recombination and window attenuation. The measured absorbed dose rate at tissue surface was $1.493{\mu}Gy/sec$ with ${\pm}2.9%$.
In the case of radiation workers in medical institutions, radiation exposure is made for patient protection and accurate procedures, so they have a problem of low dose exposure. Low-dose radiation exposure occurs mainly in parts of the body other than the Apron area, and the most frequent place is the skin of the back of the hand. In particular, since the medical personnel's hands require senses and fine movements during the procedure, they are defenseless in the radiation exposure area and are at risk of exposure. It can solve the problem of shielding such as lead gloves, and it is difficult to use by suggesting the activity of the hand during the procedure. To solve this problem, a shielding cream capable of obtaining a functional radiation protection effect was developed and its shielding performance was compared with lead equivalent of 0.1 mmPb. In the process of manufacturing shielding cream, the shielding performance was improved by adding a defoaming process to reduce air holes to increase the density of the cream. Therefore, the shielding cream using barium sulfate as the main material has a lower shielding rate than the lead plate, and in the realm of effective energy, it is 59%, At high effective energy, a difference of about 37% was shown, indicating that there is a functional radiation protection effect. The advantage is that it can be used directly on the skin, and it is considered that it can be used before wearing surgical gloves and has a permanent protective effect.

The application of solar energy in residential building is general and natural in today. And application methods of solar thermal energy is divided in two kind of form, single evacuated tube and flat-plate form. Then in this study, the efficiency of single evacuated tube and flat-plate system is compared by total and effective area considering the time receiving the solar radiation between 24 hours and the specific time(10:00~15:00). As a result of the experiment, single evacuated tube and flat-plate collector's efficiency is varied by the quantity of solar radiation. And especially, the flat-plate system is more affected by outdoor temperature. Therefore the application of solar thermal system should be considered the solar radiation and outdoor temperature.
