The purposes of this study was : 1) to describe the theoretical background of Clean-up Time Movement managing visitors' depreciative behavior ; 2) to test the effectiveness of a mass communication program, Clean-up Time Movement in National Park. This study employed a field experimental design (Multiple time-series design) in Naejangsan National Park. This study evaluated the differential effectiveness of the self-developed Clean-up Time Movement Program to reduce littering behavior between Control groups (Those who not received Clean-up Time Program) and Treatment groups (Those who received Clean-up Time Program) by weighting trash gathered in a litter box and scattered around picnic ground. The results showed that the Clean-up Time Movement Program was more effective to reduce the total trash and the trash degree per a person in Treatment groups than Control groups. It seemed to effective in managing depreciative behavior through the mass communication program in National Park.
In the case of the remediation studies, push pull test is a more time and cost effective mettled than multi-well tracer test. It also gives Just as much or more information than the traditionally used methods. But the data analysis for the hydraulic parameters, there have been some defections such as underestimation of dispersivity, requirement for effective porosity, and calculation of recovery of center of mass to estimate linear velocity. In this research, Weibull distribution function is proposed to estimate the center of mass of breakthrough curve for Push pull test. The hydraulic parameter estimation using Weibull function showed more exact values of center of mass than those of exponential regression for field test data.
We studied the evolution of the two mass components system with NFW initial density distribution by direct integration of the Fokker-Planck equations. The low mass component is regarded the dark matter particles while the high mass component is assumed to be conglomerates of baryonic matter in order to depict the 'stars'. While the true mass ratio between these two types of particles should be extremely large, our adopted mass ratio is about 1000 beyond which the dynamical evolution and density distribution tend to converge. Since the dynamical evolution is dominated by the dynamical friction, the high mass component slowly moves toward the central part, and eventually undergoes the core collapse. The system reaches the core-collapse at about $7.1{\times}10^{-3}$$t_{fh}$ in NFW models, where $t_{fh}$is the dynamical friction time at half-mass radius. The distribution of the high mass component is well fitted by the Sersic profiles or modified Hubble profile when the mass segregation is established. From these results, the surface brightness of elliptical galaxies may be explained by the high mass component experiencing dynamical friction by the dark matter particles. In order for the mass segregation to be effective within Hubble time, the mass of the luminous component should be greater than $10^5M_{\bigodot}$.
The optimal design of multiple tuned mass dampers (multiple TMD's) to suppress multi-mode structural response of beams and floor structures was investigated. A new method using a numerical optimizer, which can effectively handle a large number of design variables, was employed to search for both optimal placement and tuning of TMD's for these structures under wide-band loading. The first design problem considered was vibration control of a simple beam using 10 TMD's. The results confirmed that for structures with widelyspaced natural frequencies, multiple TMD's can be adequately designed by treating each structural vibration mode as an equivalent SDOF system. Next, the control of a beam structure with two closely-spaced natural frequencies was investigated. The results showed that the most effective multiple TMD's have their natural frequencies distributed over a range covering the two controlled structural frequencies and have low damping ratios. Moreover, a single TMD can also be made effective in controlling two modes with closely spaced frequencies by a newly identified control mechanism, but the effectiveness can be greatly impaired when the loading position changes. Finally, a realistic problem of a large floor structure with 5 closely spaced frequencies was presented. The acceleration responses at 5 positions on the floor excited by 3 wide-band forces were simultaneously suppressed using 10 TMD's. The obtained multiple TMD's were shown to be very effective and robust.
While tuned mass dampers are found to be effective in suppressing vibration in a tall building, integrating it with a semi-active control system enables it to perform more efficiently. In this paper a forty-story tall steel-frame building designed according to the Canadian standard, has been studied with and without semi-active and passive tuned mass dampers. The building is assumed to be located in the Vancouver, Canada. A magneto-rheological fluid based semi-active tuned mass damper has been optimally designed to suppress the vibration of the structure against seismic excitation, and an appropriate control procedure has been implemented to optimize the building's semi-active tuned mass system to reduce the seismic response. Furthermore, the control system parameters have been adjusted to yield the maximum reduction in the structural displacements at different floor levels. The response of the structure has been studied with a variety of ground motions with low, medium and high frequency contents to investigate the performance of the semi-active tuned mass damper in comparison to that of a passive tuned mass damper. It has been shown that the semi-active control system modifies structural response more effectively than the classic passive tuned mass damper in both mitigation of maximum displacement and reduction of the settling time of the building.
Peristaltic mass transfer of fluid in a channel with standing wall oscillations is analyzed. Averaged nonlinear Navier-Stokes equations of motion are examined for a wide range of Reynolds numbers and external pressure drops. Nonpropogating wall oscillations with relatively big amplitudes essentially increase the liquid flow. Most effective intensifying of mass transfer occurred for low Reynolds numbers.
Under the context of Stein's linear theory of stellar models, the luminosity-effective temperature relationship is derived for contracting pre-main sequence stars which are losing mass, according to the empirical formula, given by Reimers (1975). The effects of mass loss on their evolution are investigated by calculating evolutionary tracks of 1. $1.5M_{\odot}$, $5M_{\odot}$, and $10M_{\odot}$, stars. Our calculations reveal that the effects of mass loss show up in the radiative equilibrium stage of the evolution. It is found that an increase of mass loss rate leads to delay the onset of radiative equilibrium, thus resulting in under-luminous main sequence stars. It is also noted that the mass loss prolongs the pre-main sequence life time. Detailed results of the calculations are discussed.
In this paper, we propose a new method for detection of mass-type breast cancer in dense mammogram. As the proposed method analyzes texture of the breast tissue using method by fusing Homogeneity and Ranklets, improve problem of traditional method. Homogeneity gives the measure of uniform density, and Ranklets determine orientation selective property at vertical, horizontal and diagonal in mass region. The proposed method is suitable to dense mammogram with tangled normal tissue and cancer tissue. SVM(Support Vector Machine) classifier is used for effective detection of mass-type breast cancer in dense mammogram.
Recently, osteosarcopenic obesity (OSO) has been identified and notified world wide. Therefore, this study reviewed OSO related to lifestyle factors such as nutritional intake and exercise. Due to aging, OSO may be initiated by dietary factors and obesity related factors. Reduced muscle mass and increased fat mass may negatively impact bone health causing OSO. The complication of OSO development should be related to dietary imbalance combined with declined exercise and this may contribute to induce OSO by decreasing bone mass, muscle mass, and increasing obesity with aging. To prevent OSO, reaching peak bone mass and building optimal muscle and fat mass through exercise would be recommended. For treating OSO, balanced dietary intake and regular exercise through a whole life would be needed. In addition, sufficient carbohydrate and fat intake for minimizing protein catabolism would be recommended to prevent OSO. The combination of aerobic exercise and resistance training also would be an effective intervention for OSO population.
Sewage treatment plants located near to large cities emit extremely higher concentration of odorous materials. This study evaluated flux profiles of ammonia emitted from the water surface of sewage treatment plants using a dynamic flux chamber. Also, an ammonia overall mass transfer coefficient and a mass transfer model was developed in order to estimate fluxes of ammonia using environment parameters and the flux from the sewage treatment plants. The developed mass transfer model was evaluated through a fitness analysis. Comparison modeled flux applying empirical overall mass transfer coefficients of ammonia and measured ammonia flux show a high linearity with 0.977. The flux ratio of 1.282 demonstrated highly statistical fitness, also. Modeled flux using the mass transfer model was compared with measured flux. In result, it indicated that empirical overall mass transfer coefficients were similar to measured flux. The mass transfer model using the empirical overall mass transfer coefficient developed in this study was proved to be an easy and effective method to make accurate and precise predictions for ammonia flux discharged from sewage treatment plants.
