Material functions about effective stress, permeability, coefficient of consolidation and coefficient of volume change has important role to predict consolidation velocity and settlement of soft ground. Modified oedometer for radial drainage is adapted to find out material functions on laboratory tests. Undisturbed sample for laboratory tests were taken from construction sites of industrial complexes on southern coastal area which consists of upper dredged fill and lower original clay layer. For different drainage condition in consolidation process void ratio, effective stress, permeability, coefficient of consolidation and coefficient of volume change has been assessed with results of existing standard oedometer tests. It is worthwhile to note that consolidation material functions could be expressed as regression equation by Stark (2005), heterogeneity for permeability could be assessed from these relationships.

The response characteristics of EHA systems are sensitive to the temperature change of working fluid because the temperature of working fluid causes the variation of system parameters such as effective bulk modulus and viscous friction coefficient. In this paper, a precise position control of EHA system using the adaptive sliding mode control system is suggested. The adapted system parameters such as effective bulk modulus and viscous friction coefficient can be used for monitoring failures in the EHA system which has potential applications in the industrial fields. Not only the accuracy of adapted system parameters but also the improved performance and robustness in a given reference position of the cylinder are verified by computer simulation using AMESim software.

A study was conducted to find distribution patterns of minisprinkler without a bridge for the desing of microirrigation systems. The experiments were executed in a plastic house to minimize the effect of the wind. Data were collected at four different operation pressures and at 3 different riser heights. Sprayed water were collected by aluminium cans with 65mm diameter and 100mm height placed at 0.3m grid spacing . A schematic distribution pattern with distance from a minisprinkler was suggested for the layout design of the minisprinkler. Distribution pattern of the minisprinkler was found irregular in space. Distributin performance characteristics of the minisprinkler such as effective radius. , effective area, mean application depth, absolute maximum application depth, effective maximum application depth and coefficient of variation were determined. It was indicated that there is a trend of decrease in variation coefficient adn better water distribution by the increase in operation pressures and riser heights.

Temperature dependence of effective ionization coefficients in GaAs is formulated as a single polynomial function of temperature, which allows analytical expressions for breakdown voltage of GaAs $p^+n$ junctions as a function of temperature. At 300 K, extracted effective ionization coefficient of GaAs $p^+n$ junction especially agrees well with the published result of <111> oriented GaAs. The analytic results agree with the simulation as well as the experimental ones reported within 10% in error for the doping concentrations in the range of $10_{14}cm_{-3}~10_{17}cm_{-3}$ at 100 K, 300 K and 500 K.

In this study, the characteristics of single-component and other sealant were analyzed to provide repair methods and effective utilization of sealant due to crack generation. Humidity studies have shown that acrylic silicone is effective in many areas of fluidity and temperature change, and that polysulfide-silicon is most effective in resistance to linear expansion coefficient and external pressure. Therefore, the difference between drying shrinkage and thermal expansion coefficient between various building materials and sealant, as well as the use of sealant, is analyzed, and construction methods derived accordingly, and prevention of defects are considered to be part of the construction project.
In order to develop a Korea Positioning System (KPS) as part of key national infrastructure, independent navigation signal design is essential. The designed signal candidates must coexist with existing or planned GNSS signals within the limited frequency band. This requires a RF compatibility assessment, which can be performed using the Spectral Separation Coefficient (SSC) and Effective Carrier to Noise Density Ratio (Effective C/N0), for navigation signals. Thus, in this paper, the analysis of RF compatibility between the designed signal candidates and the existing GNSS signals is carried out based on analytical and numerical techniques.
Fire-enhanced soil hydrophobicity often increases runoff and erosion in the mountain hillslope following severe wildfires. Estimation techniques for WEPP's parameters were studied in burnt mountain slopes. In burnt mountain slopes, the model over-predicted runoff in the small runoff and under-predicted runoff in the great runoff, and in the lower sediment runoff it had a tendency to over-predict soil loss. The effective hydraulic conductivity was most sensitive in the WEPP's runoff and its sediment runoff was mainly effected by the effective hydraulic conductivity, initial saturation, rill erodibility, and interrill erodibility. To improve the applicability of the WEPP, the adjustment coefficient of effective hydraulic conductivity was defined for runoff and the adjustment coefficient of rill erodibility and interrill erodibility was presented for sediment runoff. The adjustment coefficient of effective hydraulic conductivity in wildfire mountain slopes increased with maximum rainfall intensity of single storm and the vegetation height index. The adjustment coefficients of rill erodibility depended on soil components of size distribution curve and total rainfall depths in single storm. The adjustment coefficients of interrill erodibility decreased with increases of maximum rainfall intensity and vegetation height index. These results may be used in the application of WEPP model for wildfire mountain slopes.

An equation of material number density sensitivity coefficient is derived using first-order perturbation theory. The beginning of cycle of Super-Phenix I is taken as the reference system for this study. Effective multiplication factor of the reference system is defined as system response function and fuel enrichment and fuel effective density are chosen for the variation of reference input data since they are described by material number density which is a component of Boltzmann operator. The nuclear computational code system (KAERI-26 group cross section library/1DX/2DB/PERT-V) is employed for this calculation. Sensitivity coefficient of fuel enrichment on effective multiplication factor is 4.576 and sensitivity coefficient of effective fuel density on effective multiplication factor is 0.0756. This work shows that sensitivity methodology is lesser timeconsuming and gives more informations on important design parameters in comparison with the direct iterative calulation through large computer codes.
The present study is suggested to estimate the degree of secondary consolidation caused by various changes of stress such as loading, unloading and reloading in improving poor subsoil through pre-compression loading construction method and, for this purpose, examined the characteristics of the consolidation of Kunsan clay through incremental loading test (IL) using standard consolidation tester and constant loading rate test (CLR), which were adapted from the constant rate of strain test (CRS). In addition, after CRS test, this study determined the characteristics of secondary consolidation and relationships among void ratio, effective stress and time according to the ratio of effective over-consolidation on reloading at the point of time of random expansion. Kunsan clay had larger expansion and smaller secondary consolidation settlement when the ratio of effective over-consolidation was high. In addition, when loading was applied after the load was removed at once, the secondary consolidation coefficient $C'_{\alpha}$ was smaller than that when the load was removed gradually, and when the ratio of effective over-consolidation was over 1.4 a similar value was produced. Based on the entire settlement resulting from reloading, the secondary consolidation coefficient $C"_{\alpha}$ increased non-linearly with the lapse of time but the final value was similar to that in the case of rapid removal. The strain velocity of void ratio was in a regular linear relationship with the increase of loading time regardless of the ratio of effective over-consolidation in both tests and it grew smaller with the increase of the ratio of effective over-consolidation.tion.

The notion of effective transport property of a heterogeneous medium implies that the medium is large enough that the ergodic theorem holds and local fluctuation of the property can be neglected. In case that the medium is not large enough compared to its characteristic microstructure length scale, the effective property fluctuates and differs from the value of the medium being large enough. As a representative transport phenomenon, diffusion was considered and the fluctuation of varying effective diffusion property, diffusion coarseness $C_k$, was defined as a quantifying parameter. Scaled effective diffusion property, $^*$>/k$_1$ and $C_k$ were computed for the two phase random media consisting of matrix of diffusion coefficient k$_1$ and spheres of diffusion coefficient k$_2$. Numerical simulations were performed by use of the so-called first passage time technique and data were collected for existing microstructure models of hard spheres(HS), overlapping spheres(OS) and penetrable concentric shells(PCS).
