Experiments have been performed using two-color PIV in hydrogen non-premixed flames with various conditions of coaxial air, which was classified into three cases with/without reaction. Mean velocity, turbulence intensity and Reynolds stress were analyzed using flow fields from PIV measurement First, the similarity of pure jet had a good agreement with previous results of other researchers. It was found that the decay of centerline velocity was proportional to $x^{-1}$ in coaxial air conditions. By normalizing axial distance with effective jet diameter defined by effective density, the data of centerline velocity collapsed a single line. And the radial profiles of mean velocity showed that they didn't become self-similar because the curves differed from each other as coaxial air velocity increased at fixed fuel velocity. Also, turbulence intensity became self-similar further downstream than mean velocity.

This paper presents an effective method of precise velocity control at low speed with a low resolution encoder. Multirate observer to estimate the velocity at every DSP control period is used except a constant velocity mode. The observer corrects the estimation error when detects pulse signal. Unlike the conventional methods, the multirate estimator is stable at a low speed. However, the multirate estimator shows ripples at a constant velocity. Thus, in this paper we use a velocity prediction method which uses the present velocity from the previous average velocity to reject the ripple. In a summary, at a constant speed mode, the predicted velocity is used. Otherwise, the estimated velocity by the multirate obvserver is used. The effectiveness of the multirate observer and ripple rejection at low speed is verified through various simulations.

An attempt has been made in this study to evaluate an applicability of Relative Effective Porosity Model (REPM) as a method for estimating saturated hydraulic conductivity (K$_{s}$) for homogeneous coarse, medium, and fine sands. The saturated hydraulic conductivities obtained from REPM are converted into average linear velocities using Darcy's Law and compared with the results from experimental tracer tests for homogeneous coarse, medium, and fine sand layer. Two types of tracer tests analyses, analytical solution using CXTFIT and moment methods, are performed to obtain reasonable linear velocity range for each layer. For the coarse and medium sands, the converted average linear velocity from REPM is in the velocity range obtained from tracer tests. However, small difference between the results from REPM and tracer tests is found for the fine sands. These results show that REPM gives reasonable estimates of saturated hydraulic conductivity.y.
The dispersion of an aerosol bolus in acinus is analyzed numerically. Model geometry is a straight duct surrounded by an axisymmetric semicircular annulus which is expanding or contracting with breathing. Unsteady Wavier-Stokes equation is solved by CFX-F3D, an FVM commercial code and the trajectory of massless particle Is computed by Lagrangian method. For steady flow with no wall motion, mean velocity of aerosol bolus in alveolated duct is a little smaller than that in straight duct and dispersion in alveolated duct is comparable with the dispersion in straight tube. For expanding duct mean velocity of aerosol bolus approaches half of that in straight tube and effective diffusivity is smaller than that of straight tube. For contracting duct mean velocity of aerosol bolus becomes slightly larger than that in straight tube and effective diffusivity is comparable with the case of straight tube.

A new method using RF Ids determined from measured S-parameters is proposed to extract the gate-voltage dependent effective carrier velocity of bulk MOSFETs in the saturation region without additional dc Ids measurement data suffering parasitic resistance effect that becomes larger with continuous down-scaling to sub-$0.1{\mu}m$. This method also allows us to extract the carrier velocity in the saturation region without the difficult extraction of bias-dependent parasitic gate-source capacitance and effective channel length. Using the RF technique, the electron velocity overshoot exceeding the bulk saturation velocity is observed in bulk N-MOSFETs with a polysilicon gate length of $0.065{\mu}m$.
Shear wave velocities of three selected sandy soils subject to drained triaxial compression test were continuously measured using the bender elements. The shear wave velocity during isotropic compression, as widely recognized, increased as confining pressure increased and they were correlated well. However, during drained shearing, the mean effective stress could no further provide a suitable correlation. The shear wave velocity during this stage was almost constant with respect to the mean effective stress. The vertical stress was found to be more favorable at this stage (since confining stress was kept constant). When sample was attained its peak stress, the shear wave velocity reduced and deviated from the previously existed trend line. This was probably caused by the non-uniformity induced by the formation of shear band. Subsequently, void ratios computed based on external measurements could not provide reasonable fitting to the initial stage of post-peak shear wave velocity. At very large strain levels after shear band formation, the digital images revealed that sample may internally re-arrange itself to be in a more uniform loose stage. This final stage void ratio estimated based on the proposed correlation derived during pre-peak state was close to the value of the maximum void ratio.
Background : Treadmill training has been proposed as a useful adjunct to conventional physical therapy to restore ability to walk after stroke. The purpose of this study to inform clinical practise by evaluating the research evidence for the effectiveness of treadmill training after stroke. Methods : We searched to the effectiveness of any form of intervention for effect of treadmill training by Dankook University electronic library databases of Medline, Embase, Cinahl, Amed and PEDro combined with a hand search of papers published in relevant peer-reviewed journals. Any type of study relevant to the topic published in English during time period from 1980 to 2007 was included. Results : The literature search identified 35 studies. The included studies enrolled a total of 374 subjects. 1. Treadmill retraining without partial body weight support might be more effective than no treatment at improving gait velocity, get up and go time, gait endurance and step length symmetry. 2. Treadmill retraining with partial body weight support might be more effective than no treatment in improving step length symmetry, gait velocity, gait endurance and balance. 3. Treadmill retraining might be more effective with partial body weight support than without it at improving gait velocity and motor improvement as measured by The Stroke Rehabilitation Assessment of Movement(STREAM). 4. Treadmill retraining without partial body weight support may be no different from physiotherapy and increase gait velocity to conventional gait therapy. 5. Treadmill retraining with partial body weight support may be no different from physiotherapy for gait velocity, motor recovery and balance. Conclusion The review suggests that although treadmill training of gait, especially with partial body weight support, might Improve gait parameters and functional mobility, unless treadmill training is directed at Improving gait speed it might be no more effective than conventional physical therapy at improving gait parameters.

Carrier velocity in the MOSFET channel is the main driving force for improved transistor performance with scaling. We report measurements of the drift velocity of electrons and holes in silicon inversion layers. A technique for extracting effective carrier velocity which is a more accurate extraction method based on the actual inversion charge measurement is used. This method gives more accurate result over the whole range of $V_{ds}$, because it does not assume a linear approximation to obtain the inversion charge and it does not limit the range of applicable $V_{ds}$. For a very short channel length device, the electron velocity overshoot is observed at room temperature in 37 nm MOSFETs while no hole velocity overshoot is observed down to 36 nm. The electron velocity of short channel device was found to be strongly dependent on the longitudinal field.
To evaluate the structural integrity of the NPP containment building more rigorously, the effective prestress, which is one of the most affecting elements, needs to be estimated exactly. This paper presents the results of an experimental study to determine the effective prestress force in prestressed concrete beams. It is possible to improve the effective prestress measuring method by test beam, which is being applied for the investigation of the nuclear power plant in operation. If experimentally evaluated Lift-Off method in this study can be coupled with test beam test currently being used in in-service nuclear power plant, it is possible to measure prestress loss of the tendon and the level of the effective prestress load.
The ballistic limit of Carbon/Epoxy composite laminates with the finite effective area are predicted by using the quasi-static perforation test and semi-empirical formula. The perforation energy were calculated from force-displacement curve in quasi-static perforation test. Also, the actual ballistic limit and penetration energy were obtained through the high-velocity impact test. The quasi-static perforation test and high-velocity impact test were conducted for the specimens with 3 different effective areas. In the high-velocity impact test, the air gun impact tester were used, and the ballistic and residual velocity was measured. The required inputs for the semi-empirical formula were determined by the quasi-static perforation tests and high-velocity impact tests. The comparison between semi-empirical formula and high-velocity impact test results were conducted and examined. The ballistic limits predicted by semi-empirical formula were agreed well with high-velocity impact test results.
