Because of the limited land resources, an efficient land use management to reach the sustainable development policy has become an urgent call in Taiwan. A long-term project entitled 'National land use monitoring program-the establishment of a land use change detection system' has been jointly conducted by both National Central University and Ministry of Interior since year of 2001. The main aim of the project is to use the remote sensing images to detect the land use changes on a national scale. This plan has been put into practice and indeed provides an effective assistance for land management.

As our global population grows each day, it is apparent that we must find new ways to provide space for habitation and the services necessary to support large urban areas. It is no longer advisable nor acceptable to continue to expand our cities on the surface, encroaching on valuable agricultural land and open space. We must also find ways to be more energy efficient in every aspect of our societies. Effective use of underground space can provide the space necessary to accommodate larger populations and the services necessary for their support in existing urban areas we can also find new ways to utilize underground facilities to improve urban efficiency and function. Underground technology has improved dramatically in the last two decades and continues to evolve to meet a great variety of applications. The confluence of available technology, economic feasibility, and greater acceptance of underground solutions with recognition of the need to change the ways we build and use out urban areas and their surrounding environment indicates that we are witnessing only the beginning of appropriate and innovative use of underground space future generations will indeed 'Think deep'.

This study tries to promote an effective use of semi-public space of urban street in social point of view. The main results are follows. First, semi-public space is occupied by private users and it makes urban landscape unrecoverable. The real problem is that people do not know the space is for public use rather than pure private use. Second, the standard of semi-public space requirement should be changed from floor space to lot area. In addition, the standard should apply to buildings on an area less than a legal standard. Third, some ways of attaining the semi-public space in relation with adjacent lots should be introduced in the case of urban redevelopment nad living condition improvement projects.

효율적인 공간디자인 개념은 20세기 도시의 대규모 개발로 인해 자투리 소규모 공간이 생기는 것에서 시작된다. 그러므로 본 연구는 부산시의 자투리 소규모 공간에 대한 개발된 사례를 연구하고 결론적으로 이런 공간 효율적인 디자인 모델을 모색하려고 한다. 먼저 공간디자인과 관련한 이론 바탕으로 수집된 현장조사 데이터 분석법을 활용하여 이를 통해 수집한 도시 중 자투리 공간 디자인의 효율성에 관한 데이터를 분석하고 향후 이런 공간을 설계할 때 수준된 디자인 제안을 제시한다. 그 다음에 자투리 공간의 디자인 해결 방안에 따라, 합리적으로 공간마다 필요한 디자인을 활용해 효과적으로 해당 공간의 효율을 높이는 것이 소규모 공간디자인의 주요 목적이 되어야 한다. 최후 도시 공간디자인은 도시 시민들의 요구를 만족하게 해주어야 할 뿐만 아니라 환경과 자원, 사회와 문화의 지속 발전 역시 고려되어야 한다. 나아가 공간의 지속적인 발전을 이루어 미래도시의 구축과 개발을 위해 의미가 있는 해결 방안을 제시하고자 한다.

The purpose of this study is to use as the basic data for design method in commercial space. So, we analyzed whether any emotion was induced by finishing materials in the commercial space. And we was to suggest expression methods of finish materials to induce in the emotional space. The results of this study are as follows : First, we could know that the emotional design is needed to enhance satisfaction of consumers. The role of finishing material is very important in emotional expression in the commercial space. Second, we extracted the adjectives vocabulary(14 pairs) to evaluate the space emotion. we could educe the four kinds of space emotion by Factor Analysis. In addition, we could arrange the emotional words to represent each space type(Decoration : 5 pairs, Expand : 4 pairs, Limitation : 3 pairs, Hierarchy : 2 pairs). Third, to use finishing materials and wall is very effective to induce the emotion in the emotional space. To use the color is good among the elements of finishing materials. Fourth, We could find that the center of the types of emotional space was induced with the boundary and the decoration. If we use contrasting colors and accent colors in the commercial space, we can induce the center and the boundary together. And if we use colorful or unusual patterns, we can induce the center and the decoration together. Fifth, To induce the expand, we should finish with one color in space. And To induce the center, we should finish with one type of the color or pattern and then we should partially use the contrast color and special pattern. the case of boundary, it is good method to part emphasize by color, texture and materials. And we can induce the decoration with materials and patterns.

In order to make an effective use of spatial resources in the city, detailed environmental plan strategies based on 'culture' are needed. An integral part of city spaces-'underground space' serves as one of the spatial resources with much effective usage potentials. Hence, 'underground space' needs cultural vitality. The purpose of this study is to propose an thorough indoor environmental plan guideline for the cultural vitality of 'underground space'. The methods used to conduct research include precedent study reviews and survey. Through this research, following conclusions are drawn. First, to promote cultural vitality at the 'underground space', it must be transformed into the cultural public place to be utilized for cultural activities by residents. Second, the 'underground space' requires 'concept of eco-friendly space for clean environment'. Third, 'safe environment' concept must be installed in the 'underground space' to promote the cultural vitality. Fourth, the 'underground space' requires 'complex/block level network plans between cultural spaces in addition to horizontal/vertical walking network between cultural environments in ground level and underground spaces. Fifth, the 'underground space' requires underground public cultural space plan through 'reasonable underground development with considerations of the facilities related to education, culture and history'. Sixth, 'public cultural space plan for various cultural spaces' and 'supply of space for cultural activities for residents and design plan for mutual culture exchange' are necessary.

As the predominant mode of vertical urban development in China, mixed-use complexes provide the optimal case for the research of sustainable and vertical urbanism. This paper reviews three typical mixed-use complexes with various vertical space systems in Shanghai via the combination of field observation, questionnaires and software analysis. It then proceeds to determine which vertical space system is most effective for encouraging sustainable vertical urban development from the perspective of spatial efficiency. Finally, it concludes with an evaluation of the relative capabilities of the design features of a mixed-use complex: to create external dimensional-connections, to create multiple internal connections, and to organize overall composite functions.

This study was to research and study whether the types of interaction design perform the effective functions and roles as the exhibition space that audiences want centered in the digital media exhibition space. It was to suggest effective space characteristics through analyzing how the interaction design was expressed at the exhibition space and its application. For the analysis, it completes theoretical inquiry on the classification of the space characteristics according to the concept type of interaction and design characteristics. Based on it, it directly visited the exhibition space that reflected the interaction design centered in Seoul City, experienced the given experience, and designed the analyzing frame by composing a checklist after the observation research. Through the designed analysis, it performed a site questionnaire to audiences. It induced the conclusion as follows after analyzing the case space that reflected the interaction design type. First, the program analysis of the space that has the variability is necessary through a variety of digital analysis as there is a limitation that the characteristic of digital media has. Second, in the concept type of the interaction design, it needs the interaction stage among people that can communicate with audiences and stimulate their senses through vidual factors. Third, in the characteristic of the interaction design, it should try to use effective contents to get over the limitation of the space through the interaction in the designated space in case of exhibition. In the following research, it needs to study on the variety of stage plans in detail by supplying contents to audiences and grafting to the exhibition space continuously through using the interaction design that uses digital media at there.

Fitness center which was first introduced through hotel fitness has been disseminated into country over the years and these days it becomes a public sports facility that is available even in a small city. Fitness center usually requires a space more than 500 pyeong and even in a small fitness facility at least 200-300 pyung is in need. Also, complex structure including a space for preparing exercise and other subsidiary facility is necessary as well as various service areas to perform various exercise programs. In case of domestic fitness centers, however, proper standard and data required to compute the scale of each service area is not available due to the short of piling data. Therefore computing each space totally depends on an instinct decision of a designer or client, which may cause the fail of effective use of space. This paper aims to calculate appropriate use of space, that is, the over all space, equipment size, and movement line of each area as well as preference and frequence of use among areas is estimated in order to apply those data when computing appropriate estimation of scale.

This study analyzed the electric vehicle recharging station status with recharging time limitation due to long waiting time, and figured out the user status by user interviews. And then this study verified the validity of hypothesis in terms of environmental design perspective and suggested layout of recharging station model. 21 recharging stations in Korea and station operation cases of 7 countries were examined. Except for the USA, the reality of electric vehicle recharging station today is the 1st proving stage focusing on the infrastructure construction of electric vehicle recharging station. It focuses on performance of recharging facility, use efficiency and operation environment of electric vehicle. About the effective waiting time of the user to use it should be studied. The current conditions of recharging station are as follows: Lack of independent recharging space, lack of facility that reduces external effect of recharging space, and lack of lounge for users during the waiting time. These three are essential factors constructing a suggesting model after basic layout, which needs proper measurement on the long recharging time and long waiting time. The essential factors are applied to electric vehicle recharging station layout so that users might use 'digital refresh" i.e. lounge and information contents service during the waiting time which provides convenience of recharging and emotional space with users. Such upgrade recharging station environmental model might resolve the burden of long recharging time which may contribute to the popularization of electric vehicles.
