This paper proposes a specific sensor-design strategy and the possibility of improving the sensing performance, which can be obtained by replacing part of the existing plasmonic sensor based on the Kretschmann configuration method with an effective refractive-index layer. By replacing the metal layer with an effective refractive-index layer composed of gold and the material to be sensed, an improvement in the detection performance, accompanied by an increase in the sensed incident angle, is observed, and the gold-composition ratio that demonstrates the best result is presented. Subsequently, an increase in the sensed incident angle generated in the previous step can be suppressed by randomly etching a portion of the prism adjacent to the metal layer in a sub-wavelength scale. Finally, this study analyzes the optimization of the metal-layer thickness in a given sensor structure. An effective refractive thin-film surface plasmon resonance sensor design that can achieve optimal sensing performance is then proposed.

Recent three-dimensional feature-based CAD systems based on solid or non-manifold modelling functionality have been widely used for product design in manufacturing companies. When product models associated with features are used in various downstream applications such as analysis, however, simplified and abstracted models at various levels of detail (LODs) are frequently more desirable and useful than the full detailed model. To provide multi-resolution models, the features need to be rearranged according to a criterion that measures the significance of the feature. However, if the features are rearranged, the resulting shape is possibly different from the original because union and subtraction Boolean operations are not commutative. To solve this problem, in this paper, the new concept of the effective zone of a feature is defined and identified using Boolean algebra. By introducing the effective zone, an arbitrary rearrangement of features becomes possible and arbitrary LOD criteria may be selected to suit various applications. Besides, because the effective zone of a feature is independent of the data structure of the model, the multi-resolution modelling algorithm based on the effective zone can be implemented on any 3D CAD system based on conventional solid representations as well as non-manifold topological (NMT) representations.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to provide logical basis on enlargement of toilet floor space for the disabled by "ACT ON GUARANTEE OF PROMOTION OF CONVENIENCE OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES, THE AGED, PREGNANT WOMEN. ETC" Revised Enforcement regulation [Asterisk 1] (2018.2.10.) and to help with making plans, designs and establishing policies by conducting experimental study with the enhanced floor area regulations. Methods: We conduct Experimental study, field work and interview for this paper. In experimental study, verification of the effective floor area was proceeded by measuring activity space for people in manual wheelchair, electric wheel chair and electric scooter and also reviewed useable area with the space expanded 0.2m both width and depth. In filed work, conducted an observation what other things (ex. sanitary equipment, hand rail and so on) can also affect the active space as well as effective floor space. In the interview, other problems and requirements that were not revealed were experimental study and observation of field work. Results : it's expected to provide better access to toilets for the disabled with the law revision of effective floor area. But, with the usage increasement of enlarged wheel chair and electric wheel chair, expanding side areas of toilet is also highly likely to be required going forward. Implications : Additional research is required on locations of exists and internal arrangement that effect the usage of toilet. It should be led to Universal design by making additional investigation and verification of the users patterns.

The purpose of this study is in planning clothing and bag design and VMD. For this purpose, the pret-a-porter fashion collection is divided into the following sectors: brands, years, and seasons, focusing on the design elements. The results of this study are as follows: 1. It is these three ways that determine the relevance of clothing and bag design planning. first, we have analyzed design properties analogously with one design element, like Louis Vuitton. Second, we considered design properties analogously with two design elements, like Chanel, Gucci, Prada. Third, we examined design properties analogously with three design elements, like Christian dior, Fendi, Etro. 2. The comparison of clothing and bag design properties year by year shows that they were mainly designed with an analogous aspect with pattern and decoration. 3. Clothing does well to match a bag between analogous design properties of design elements to express similarity coordination and between contrast design properties of design elements to express plus one coordination or crossover coordination. 4. The aspect of coordination of clothing and bags year by year is different period. This is because of clothing and bag design's change according fashion trend. 5. S/S coordination of clothing and bags is effective to present plus one coordination or crossover coordination. And F/W coordination of clothing and bags is effective to present similarity in coordination.
We propose a new concept of transmission-tribology design based on the investigation of development and existing problem of the gear drive and tribology. The content of transmission-tribology and transmission-tribology design is probed. Some effective methods of transmission-tribology design is probed. Some effective methods of transmission-tribology design are put forward. Partial achievements in this research are introduced tersely.

The design and development of a Web-based Workflow Management System (WfMS) is described in this paper. WfMSs are employed by many organizations to manage their business processes efficiently. The goal of this research is to provide an effective management of design processes in a distributed and heterogeneous environment-an environment in which workflow participants are geographically dispersed and use different computing platforms. We identify the requirements of WfMSs for the distributed and heterogeneous environment. We present an approach to applying the Web technology to was. The developed system is composed of three main modules: Worflow Engine, Web-based clients, and Process Designer. The workflow engine is implemented in pure Java for portability to heterogeneous platforms. furthermore, the client interfaces are all programmed using applets, and thus they can be readily accessed through the Internet/intranet. The Process Designer provides a build-time function of generating process specifications. Some important functions of the developed system are explained in this paper. A prototype system has been developed and applied to design processes. The system allows effective cooperation among designers who may be geographically separated.
Effective design of a database is essential for operating application systems efficiently. This Paper discusses database design for the automatic distribution system. Database design is a complex Process for specifying the structure of information and is decomposed in three Phases: conceptual, logical, and Physical design. In this paper, we first collect and analyze the requirements for the automatic distribution system, our target application. We also perform database design for these requirements through three design Phases. We believe that our results would contribute to the effective construction of a database for the automatic distribution system.

The objectives of this study are to investigate effective stiffness of Rectangular reinforced concrete bridge columns. It is reasonable to use yielding effective stiffness of columns in seismic bridge design, especially in case that plastic hinges form at the bridge columns. In this study, the material nonlinear analysis was conducted for 3, 240 column sections of which variables were the concrete compressive stress, the steel yielding stress, the longitudinal steel location parameter, the longitudinal steel ratio, the axial load level, and the diameter of section. Based on the analytical results, an effective stiffness including two variables(longitudinal steel ratio and axial load ratio) was proposed by regression analyses, and it is compared with test results and the proposed equation for yielding effective stiffness of circular bridge columns.
This study is the developed prediction of residual effective prestress force of prestressed concrete beam bridges. Developed prediction method is based on the center camber of prestressed concrete beam, structural design. report of various PSC beams, construction reference materials of PSC beams. Evaluation of residual effective prestress force by developed method is compared with evaluation by structural design. This comparison results shows that this developed method is very effective method. Therefore prediction of residual effective prestress force by this developed method will be used for evaluation of the rating of various PSC beam bridges(road bridges and railway bridges).
Optical modeling and characterization of transparent dye-sensitized solar cells (DSC) are presented to design and estimate DSC devices numerically. In order to model the inhomogeneous active layer of DSC, the porous structure of titanium oxide ($TiO_2$) and dye mixture, we prepared films consisting of layer by layer of the DSC's basic materials sequentially, and characterized the optical parameters of the films with the effective refractive index, which was extracted from the transmittance and reflectance measurements in ultra violet to near infra-red range. By using the effective refractive index, we made the optical model for DSC, and demonstrated that the optical model based on effective refractive index can be used to design and evaluate the performance of transparent-type DSC modules.
