  • The evaluation of habitability to building vibration is conducted by the values of natural frequency, amplitude displacement, damping ratio. These values can be obtained from test or analytical results. Data acquisition through test may be possible in existing building, however, to estimate the serviceability of the building, it is necessary to evaluate those values at the stage of design. The natural frequency is important and basic factor for the evaluation of the serviceability. Calculation method of the effective stiffness in RC slab is proposed. To prove the efficiency of the proposed method, sample results of the analysis and the test are compared. These results proved that the effective width proposed to calculate the effective stiffness is proper to evaluate the natural frequency.

  • The strut-tie model approach has proven to be effective in the ultimate analysis and design of structural concrete with disturbed regions. For the reliable analysis and design by the approach, however, the effective strength of concrete struts must be determined accurately. In this study, the validity of the effective strength of concrete struts, presented by the several design codes and many researchers including the author, was examined through the ultimate strength analysis of 24 reinforced concrete panels, 275 reinforced concrete deep beams, and 218 reinforced concrete corbels by using the conventional linear strut-tie model approach of current codes. The present study shows that the author's approach, resulting in an accurate and consistent evaluation of the ultimate strength of the panels, deep beams, and corbels, may reflect rationally the effects of primary variables including the types of strut-tie model and structural concrete, the conditions of load and geometry, and the strength of concrete in the strut-tie model analysis and design of structural concrete.

  • A successful, computer-aided design support system can help a process designer focus on making effective design decisions, not merely tedious routine calculations. Such a system is essential to enhance quality of design in terms of economics, environmental benignity, reliability, robustness, and operability. Such a statement is even more accepted when applied to conceptual design problems, where gross design specifications are given while a combinatorial number of design alternatives exists. This paper presents an agent-based approach as a systematic and efficient way to design a design support system for the synthesis of conceptual chemical processes. An agent-based approach allows us to handle design knowledge as an object and thus greatly improve the modularity and reusability of that knowledge. Such modularity and reusability lead to the increased productivity in the development of a design support system and the increased ease in the relaxation of design decisions and the generation of design alternatives, both of which functions are critically important in dealing with the complexity and uncertainty of conceptual design problems.

  • In order to obtain a reasonable value for the thermal load to use in designs, a bridge specimen of a full-size steel box girder (bridge) was manufactured. The temperature data were measured at 21 points in the bridge specimen and 19 points in the steel box bridge. The steel box bridge specimen was installed in a similar direction to a nearby real one. The maximum effective temperatures in the bridge specimen and bridge were calculated for air temperatures in the range of $24^{\circ}C{\sim}38^{\circ}C$. The maximum effective temperature of the bridge specimen and bridge showed correlations of approximately 93.2% and 87.4%, respectively, compared with the Euro code. The maximum effective temperature calculated in this study was very close to the Euro code and the maximum temperature of the Highway Bridge Design Criteria. When the effective temperature obtained in the study is combined with the highest temperature calculated from the Contour map for each region, the design criteria for the thermal load in domestic bridge design, taking into consideration the characteristics of each region, can be established.

  • This paper presents a methodology in which the knowledge of design intents and change requests is communicated unambiguously cross collaboration partners through features. The domain of application is focused on the plastic part design for enabling effective collaboration between the product design and plastic mold making. The methodology takes the feature-based design approach and allows design features and knowledge to be reused in plastic injection mold design. It shortens the mold design lead-time, reduces mold design efforts, and enables unambiguous and fast design change management between product and mold designers. These contribute to the reduction of product development cycle time.

  • Today, interior design industry is continuously developing in domestic and foreign, and the industry is getting more internationalized and professionalized day after day. At the same time, the interior design industry is overwhelmed by sudden changes. However, the sudden change can be regarded as a turning point requiring management paradigm shift and an understanding of fundamental concept of interior design industry management. In other word, it is the point where a design management strategy should begin. The previous management strategies are no longer effective. Only the companies providing impressive and practical designs followed from qualified market research and analysis can survive in the society. This research examined the tasks the interior design industry confronted and the factors of environmental changes, and analyzed the current status and trend of changing environments. The purpose of the research is to propose a direction to the effective management available in highly industrial national society.

  • What's the direction of INTERIOR ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN in 21 Century High Tech\ulcorner The purpose of this research is to show not only practical use of Computer Graphic(CG) as simple tool function, but offering conversation with computer and other ways of method. When we consider poor CG market, investment on the research of VR(Virtual Reality) is the most urgent. The investment on VR will solve various problems. Firstly. It will solve the problems drived from Interior design process by making spatial images like reality. Secondly, It will solve high wages and financial difficulties caused by raise cost funds. Thirdly, It prevents in a road from foreign company that will bring enormous program, caused by opening the domestic market. Also, It help interior designer check in advance the problems in constructure through showing him a supposed imagination including the system and location of equipments. But it is reality that even ordinary American can't offer VR(Virtual Reality) System. We should have noted that it is normal to spend 10 billion won for such presentation as Model House in the large corporation. We must acknowledge that it is such a waist of money nationally. Therefore, investment on CG & VR System is essential in order to save cost more effective presentation & interior design. We will see great result within a year. As we can see, there is huge area we have make develop. One of them is specific technical plan on VR System and study of flow chart. We close with simple methodological way to use VR System and will study Computer System. Which is fitting to CG that we have to solve the link of hardware and software on VR System\ulcorner We know from the cases in other countries that continuous research on this subject has great value for Interior Architectural Design and its effective use. When we try hard not only for methodological use but practical use, the purpose of CG and VR System will be a factor to contribute on this subject for better Interior design & presentation.

  • The specific web site style is the major appliance which can transmit the characteristics of the site in the fastest and the most accurate ways. The realization of the web site style related to the characteristics of the system which the web site represents typically is the very important design element, for the effective construction of the web site. The study of the methods investigation to contrive the reasonable style pattern systems is dedicated on these backgrounds, as one of the methods for the effective planning of the web design. For this purpose, the study has investigated the web design style through the internet and the books. Also, the study has analyzed the style pattern of the web site domestic and overseas. Based on the results of the study, the inquiry of the web design style pattern and the user's mental model has been prepared, surveyed and analyzed accordingly. This study has indicated one of the methods which can be utilized widely in the process of the style determination of general web site design. The efficiency of the study will be valued in the utilization of similar methods of style determination stage in various design areas.

  • To cope with the challenge from global market characterized by frequent changes in requirements, manufacturing enterprise should be able to promptly adjust its manufacturing system accordingly. Therefore, it is important to provide manufacturing system designer with an appropriate methodology to (re-)design a manufacturing system subject to requirements change. Axiomatic design theory focuses design activity mainly on functional consideration rather than physical, and has been known as effective especially in the conceptual design phase. This paper introduces an approach to apply the axiomatic design principle to manufacturing system design. It is shown that a new design solution can be reached quickly by finding design parameters for the added or revised functional requirements and thus achieving a set of functional requirements as well as design parameters that satisfy the independence axiom. Some illustrative examples are also given.

  • In order to design progressive die many processes are needed and it takes a lot of time to get a final product. In this study, we reduced design processes by using reverse engineering and studied on strip layout design which is the core part of die design. And we got a optimized strip layout design by CimatronE Die Design which is the 3D design program. In this strip layout design we obtained the more effective methode by using reverse engineering.
